Pérez-Almonacid,Ricardo; Pea-correal,Telmo Eduardo;
Suma Psicológica , 2011,
Abstract: the continuity assumption in the operant tradition, that is, to consider the behavior of all species in terms of the same processes, has induced a confusion of categories that prevents the study and understanding of proper human behavior. continuity arguments are reviewed, especially those based on scientific simplicity and phylogenetic continuity. three counterarguments are developed, showing how the possibility of different behavioral processes among species, including the human one, is defensible, without denying that the origins of different species and of the behavior of organisms respond to the same principles. in the end, a proposal is outlined about the possibility of identifying different behavioral processes, as an analysis of behavioral organization, which would allow a more fruitful study of properly human behavior from a behavioral perspective.

EFECTOS EN LA EJECUCIóN DURANTE UNA TAREA DE IGUALACIóN A LA MUESTRA SEGúN EL TIPO Y EL ORDEN DE EXPOSICIóN A LAS PRUEBAS DE TRANSFERENCIA1

Universitas Psychologica , 2007,
Abstract: this study evaluated the effects of manipulating the type and order of presentation of transference tests. twenty eight undergraduate students divided in 4 groups were exposed to a second order matching to sample procedure. the conditions of exposition were: ascending difficulty/complexity order of the tests, descending order and two randomly assigned orders. results are discussed in terms of percentages of effectiveness; additionally, the latency is proposed as an alternative measure sensitive to the level of difficulty of this kind of tasks. findings showed heterogeneity in the velocity of acquisition of the conditional discriminations during the training phase, even though the conditions of the task were equal for all the subjects. the exposition to the ascending and descending order seemed to affect negatively the effective behavioral adjustment, whereas one of the randomly assigned sequences seemed to be the best condition. the order of exposition to transference tests, in interaction with a history of early acquisition in the training phase, served to understand the findings of this study and to discuss the necessity of a systematical evaluation of the factors implied in the transference tests. it is suggested to assess the validity of different kind of transference tests and the convenience of some of them to be use in the investigation of the phenomena related to the effective and variable behavior.

IS BEHAVIORISM VIABLE IN THE XXI CENTURY?
Telmo Eduardo Pea Correal*
Liberabit , 2010,
Based on the premise that behaviorism is not a unified theory of psychology,but a philosophy of this science, some of the topics on which there is greater coincidence between the behaviourists arepresented, namely the assumption that psychology is a natural and empirical science, which attempts to generate knowledgein which subjectivistic biases (objectivity) are controlled and finally that it prefers the experimental methodology in theirempirical studies. Also are brought some topics on which there is debate among the behaviorists, such as the level ofmolecularity or molarity in the analysis, the need or not of mediating factors and the use of ideographic vs. nomoteticresearch. Work concludes by pointing out how some of the more known concepts as stimulus , response , or conditioning among others, are not essential to Behaviorism and they could eventually be replaced by others.

Modelo factorial dinámico threshold

Revista Colombiana de Estadística , 2008,
Abstract: this paper introduces a threshold dynamic factor model for the analysis of vector time series which shows non-linear behavior of threshold type. we propose an estimation procedure combining an em algorithm with a grid search procedure by the ways of the kalman filter and smoothing recursions. we estimate common latent threshold factors that may explain the dynamic relationships within the group of variables.
