Inteligência fluida: defini??o fatorial, cognitiva e neuropsicológica

Abstract: this paper reviews the construct fluid intelligence (gf) with the intent to focus on the conceptual points of convergence among them. it was discussed some relevant studies from the psychometric, cognitive and the more recent cognitive neuroscience traditions. the current trend is to link fluid intelligence to at least seven functions of central executive component of working memory: (a) the level of activation maintenance of mental representations, (b) coordination of simultaneous mental activities, (c) monitoring and supervision of mental activities (d) attention control and selective attention, (e) activation of information from long-term memory (f) rerouting or adaptive flexibility. it was also discussed how geometric inductive reasoning tasks represent the construct gf.

Abstract: abstract this article presents an overview of important issues in the area of psychological assessment for the last 25 years in brazil. it discusses the area's epistemological elements as well as their relations to science, and the integration of nomothetic and idiographic thinking in research with professional practice. it is presented a historical overview of major events and a general analysis of the publication in the area. the production of instruments and the psychological test evaluation system of the federal council of psychology are also described. later, future perspectives are highlighted in four areas: methodological and technological advances, integration of approaches and advancement of their methods, consequential validity and social relevance, and the need to encourage training and the creation of expertise in psychological assessment.

Abstract: the development of a questionnaire of career decision-making difficulties based on a model of decision making process is presented. a sample of 227 brazilian students, 52.8% from public and 47.2% from private schools, 69% with age ranging from 14 to 17 years old, attending the eighth to eleventh grades, answered the questionnaire. factor analysis indicated 17 factors hierarchically organized in four broader secondary factors: a) indecisiveness and lack of information (alpha .89); b) search for prestige and financial support (alpha .79); c) immaturity (alpha .70); and d) external conflicts with significant persons (alpha .71). an anova showed that the public school students tend to give higher importance to economical aspects and the eighth graders tend to be more immature than tenth and eleventh graders.

Abstract: A inteligência fluida (Gf) refere-se à capacidade geral de raciocínio em situa es novas pouco estruturadas. Em termos de processo cognitivo subjacentes, estudos recentes apontam que a Gf está associada á memória de trabalho, especialmente às fun es do executivo central, nomeadamente, coordena o simultanea de tarefas e aten o, seletiva/abstra o. Esse estudo verificou a estrutura fatorial de um conjunto de itens de raciocínio analógico com figuras geométricas criados sistematicamente para representarem esses dois componentes do constructo. O instrumento é informatizado e composto por: (a) Pré-teste contendo doze problemas; (b) Fase de treino na qual s o ensinados os componentes do processamento cognitivo e a estrutura geral dos problemas e (c) Pós-teste com mais doze problemas estruturalmente idênticos aos do pré-teste e com feedback, sobre a corre o da resposta e três tentativas possíveis. Participaram 343 estudanetes universitários, 56,5% homens e 43,5% mulheres de cinco cursos: Administra o (16,4%), Engenharia elétrica (17%), Engenharia mecanica (26,5%), Matemática (9,1%) e Psicologia (30,9%). Os alunos tinham entre 17 e 43 anos com média de 22,2 anos e desvio padr o 4,68. Os resultados da análise Full Information Factor Analysis indicaram a existência de três fatores, um agrupando itens do pré-teste, outro agrupando itens do pós-teste e um terceiro com itens mais difíceis destinados a medir o componente abstra o. Os resultados indicam que a constru o sistemática dos itens foi efetiva em separar os dois componentes da inteligência fluida assim como o formato dinamico da avalia o foi efetivo para avaliar diferen as individuais em rela o ao potencial de aprendizagem.
Inteligência emocional e personalidade avaliada pelo Método de Rorschach

Abstract: Inteligência emocional é um construto que vem sendo pesquisado desde 1990 e sempre rodeado de muitas críticas quanto a sua existência. Uma dessas críticas levanta a quest o se a inteligência emocional é de fato um novo construto ou por outro lado um novo nome para tra os já estudados nas teorias da personalidade. Partindo desse questionamento o objetivo deste estudo foi investigar as rela es entre esse construto e medidas de personalidade. Participaram do estudo 80 policiais do Estado de S o Paulo. Para isso, foram utilizados os seguintes instrumentos: Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) e o Método das Manchas de Tinta de Rorschach para avaliar tra os característicos de funcionamento da personalidade. Os resultados indicaram que inteligência emocional e personalidade apresentam pouquíssimas correla es, sendo todas baixas e relacionadas por conteúdos emocionais existentes nas variáveis que se associaram. Os dados sustentam evidências positivas de validade divergente para o MSCEIT.
Perfis de capacidades cognitivas na bateria de provas de raciocínio (BPR-5)

Abstract: studied the cognitive subtest profiles on the battery of reasoning tests (bpr-5) that is comprised by five subtests: abstract reasoning, verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, spatial reasoning and mechanical reasoning. the participants were 3039 students from brazil (1444) and portugal (1595) of the standardization study. these profiles were characterized and compared with the data origin (brazil x portugal), gender, age, achievement and areas of study. profiles were similar in the two countries and wer systematic related with the other criterion variables. it was concluded that the shape of the profiles can potentially bring new and systematic information about student's learning strengths and weaknesses as they are associated with age, areas of study, grade retention and gender.

Abstract: this research investigates reliability and validity of the reasoning battery tests (bpr-5), a reduced version of the battery of differential reasoning tests (bprd; almeida, 1988). it is comprised by five subtests: abstract reasoning, verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, spatial reasoning and mechanical reasoning. the participants were 1243 sixth grade to high school students from brazil (n=771) and portugal (n=472). the internal consistency coefficients varied from 0,62 to 0,84 and split-half coefficients 0,65 to 0,87. the factor analysis indicated an unidimensional solution accounting for approximately 55% of the total variance representing a composite score based on fluid intelligence, crystallized intelligence, visual processing ability, quantitative ability and practical-mechanical knowledge. the criterion validity coefficients based on the correlation with school success were around 0,54 (p < 0,01). it was concluded that the bpr-5 constitutes an efficient and fast way to assess general and specific abilities and could be a valuable instrument for professionals in their assessment needs.

Abstract: Esse estudo investiga a validade e precis o da BPR-5, vers o reduzida da Bateria de Provas de Raciocínio Diferencial (BPRD) de Almeida (1988), composta por cinco subtestes: Raciocínio Abstrato, Raciocínio Verbal, Raciocínio Numérico, Raciocínio Espacial e Raciocínio Mecanico. A BPR-5 foi aplicada em 1243 alunos brasileiros (N=771) e portugueses (N=472) da sexta série do ensino fundamental até a terceira série do ensino médio. Os coeficientes de consistência interna variaram de 0,62 a 0,84 e os de precis o pelo método das metades de 0,65 a 0,87. Encontrou-se um único fator explicando aproximadamente 55% da variancia representando uma medida composta de inteligência fluida, cristalizada, processamento visual e habilidade quantitativa e conhecimento prático de mecanica. As correla es da BPR-5 com as notas escolares foram, no geral, positivas chegando a atingir 0,54 (p < 0,01). Conclui-se que a BPR-5 constitui um instrumento eficiente e rápido para avalia o simultanea do raciocínio geral e das aptid es podendo ser útil aos profissionais em suas diversas áreas de atua o.
Desenvolvimento de um teste informatizado para avalia??o do raciocínio, da memória e da velocidade do processamento

Abstract: this study investigates the accuracy and diligence of an electronic test which purpose is the assessment of three cognitive abilities: inductive reasoning, short-term auditory memory and short-term visual memory based on cattell-horn-carroll model. the test was answered by 70 children from a municipal elementary school (2th to 4th grades), aged from 7 to 12 years old, 52,9% male. the test achieved internal consistency accurate data: .81 (inductive reasoning), 93 (short-term auditory memory) and .81 (short-term visual memory). according to the comparison between the results of this instrument and the data from students' teachers that were external and without criteria, it is possible to confirm that most of the cognitive measures presents coefficients correlated to external teachers ratings on areas such as motor skills, hyperactivity, writing, reading and math. 29 -.51.

Abstract: the use of psychological tests is a common practice among brazilian companies. these evaluations, however, are done many times without taking into account the efficiency of the instruments that are used for discriminating relevant criteria for a good performance of the employee at work. the purpose of this study was to check evidences on the validity of the bpr-5 test in an organizational context. the sample consisted of 79 employees of a brazilian electric company. the number of injuries at the workplace was used as criteria. the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analyses. the results showed that the criteria of injuries at the workplace presented significant correlations with the tests, indicating correlation with intelligence, especially for employees with less job experience (-0,39; p<0,05). the implications of these results for both research and practice are discussed.
