Flexibility analysis in an information economy: structural equation modeling
Feruccio Bilich,Ricardo DaSilva,Paulo Ramos
JISTEM - Journal of Information Systems and Technology Management , 2006,
Abstract: This paper analyzes the new concept of flexibility in organizations – of relevance both at micro and macro level. Information Economy (IE) modern function is specifically analyzed. The purpose of this paper is not limited to the study of information economy flexibility, but extends its focus to other areas of organization and economic studies, having as reference the proposed model. Although not covering all aspects regarding objectives and hypotheses, results obtained demonstrate that subsequent studies can lead to success experiences, since the models presented are: stability in relation to the deviations presented in the resulting equations; values that are very close to what is desirable for adjustment indexes, factorial loads, t-values, extracted variances and reliability; as well as other necessary aspects for the application of the technique. The approach focuses the analysis of information economy flexibility based on structural equations modeling to serve as reference for the development of adaptation phenomenon studies in relation to structures, strategies and organizational processes, against the environmental dynamics contemporary society is faced with.
Systematic review and cladistic analysis of the Hernandariinae (Opiliones: Gonyleptidae)
DaSilva, Marcio Bernardino;Pinto-da-Rocha, Ricardo;
Zoologia (Curitiba) , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-46702010000400010
Abstract: the harvestmen subfamily hernandariinae is reviewed and a new classification is proposed based on cladistic analysis using 67 morphological characters. the subfamily is composed of six genera and 23 species and occurs in south-southeastern brazil, paraguay, and northeastern argentina. fourteen new combinations are proposed: hernandaria armatifrons (roewer, 1917); h. una (mello-leit?o, 1927); acrogonyleptes granulatus (h. soares, 1966); a. pectinifemur (soares & soares, 1947); acanthogonyleptes alticola (mello-leit?o, 1922); a. editus (roewer, 1943); a. fallax (mello-leit?o, 1932); a. fulvigranulatus (mello-leit?o, 1922); a. marmoratus (mello-leit?o, 1940); a. pictus (piza, 1942); a. singularis (mello-leit?o, 1935); a. soaresi (mello-leit?o, 1944); a. variolosus (mello-leit?o, 1944). seven synonymies are proposed: proweyhia mello-leit?o, 1927 and metaxundarava mello-leit?o, 1927 = hernandaria s?rensen, 1884; apembolephaenus calcaratus soares & soares, 1945 = h. armatifrons (roewer, 1917); sphaerobunus rower, 1917 and paraproweyhia soares & soares, 1947 = acrogonyleptes roewer, 1917; paraproweyhia curitibae soares & soares, 1947 = acrogonyleptes exochus (mello-leit?o, 1931); and melloleitaniana curitibae b. soares, 1943 = acrogonyleptes spinifrons roewer, 1917. three species are revalidated: acrogonyleptes granulatus (h. soares, 1966), a. pectinifemur (soares & soares, 1947), and a. spinifrons roewer, 1917. seven new species are described: hernandaria sundermannorum sp. nov. (s?o paulo state, brazil), hernandaria anitagaribaldiae sp. nov. (santa catarina state, brazil), hernandaria zumbii sp. nov. (santa catarina state, brazil), hernandaria chicomendesi sp. nov. (santa catarina state, brazil), acrogonyleptes cheguevarai sp. nov. (rio grande do sul state, brazil), pseudotrogulus pagu sp. nov. (s?o paulo state, brazil), pseudotrogulus trotskyi sp. nov. (paraná state, brazil).
Internal Fixation for Fracture of Femoral Head Associated A-Posterior Hip Dislocation: A Case Report  [PDF]

Open Access Library Journal (OALib Journal) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/oalib.1102846
Fractures of the femoral head are rarely described. These fractures are diagnostic problems. The multiplicity of lesions associated with traumatic dislocations of the hip joint makes it difficult to establish a well-d therapeutic approach. A young biker suffers from dislocation of the hip fracture associated with a femoral head. Our approach was surgery. We use a Smith-Petersen exposure and the orthopedic table, useful for accessing and fixing fragment. There are many therapeutic options and depending on type of lesion, osteoarthritis is the most common complication.
Art, biotechnology and the culture of peace
Electronic Journal of Biotechnology , 2004,
Abstract: biotechnology, in its voyage from ancient times into the expanding frontier areas of today's world of scientific research, has revealed itself as the gene of diplomacy and international cooperation in the relationships between nations (dasilva, 2002). economic and biotechnological considerations, strong elements in themselves, drive policy implementation that draws upon the support and sustenance of the public's logic and understanding of science obtained through the avenues of art and culture. more and more scientists are teaming up with artists to harness the world of microbes and biotechnology in the pursuit of one's natural well-being, of the conservation of environmental heritage, and of human comradeship and welfare. art and culture in revealing the human face of biotechnology help engender solidarity amongst different cultures. furthermore, they nurture individual solidarity and collective commitment in especially young children ---tomorrow's architects in the quest of the culture of a sustainable peace.
Elements of a Requirements Management Tool to Improve Software Development
Rogeiro Silva,Anaima Dasilva
Revista Antioque?a de las Ciencias Computacionales y la Ingeniería de Software RACCIS , 2012,
Abstract: Developing quality software is a challenge that requires professional to use techniques and methodologies appropriate, at the same time good software engineering practices. In the industry, the challenge is to hire experienced professionals, especially having to do with requirements management and tools to do it. To help overcome these problems, this article presents a way to select a management tool that incorporates best practices, in order to investigate the elements that ensure that is suitable for specific needs. To achieve this, was conducted a comparative study among the different tools available that have these elements. The results show that, until now, there is not a specific tool that contains all, therefore, has been determined that is essential to develop one that professional can use for developing quality software.
The stability of the fractional quantum Hall effect in topological insulators
Ashley M. DaSilva
Physics , 2011, DOI: 10.1016/j.ssc.2011.07.001
Abstract: With the recent observation of graphene-like Landau levels at the surface of topological insulators, the possibility of fractional quantum Hall effect, which is a fundamental signature of strong correlations, has become of interest. Some experiments have reported intra-Landau level structure that is suggestive of fractional quantum Hall effect. This paper discusses the feasibility of fractional quantum Hall effect from a theoretical perspective, and argues that while this effect should occur, ideally, in the $n=0$ and $|n|=1$ Landau levels, it is ruled out in higher $|n|$ Landau levels. Unlike graphene, the fractional quantum Hall effect in topological insulators is predicted to show an interesting asymmetry between $n=1$ and $n=-1$ Landau levels due to spin-orbit coupling.
Medicinal Plants: A Re-emerging Health Aid
Hoareau,Lucy; DaSilva,Edgar J.;
Electronic Journal of Biotechnology , 1999,
Abstract: interest in medicinal plants as a re-emerging health aid has been fuelled by the rising costs of prescription drugs in the maintenance of personal health and well being, and the bioprospecting of new plant-derived drugs. several issues as well as a range of interests and activities in a number of countries are dealt with. based on current research and financial investments, medicinal plants will, seemingly, continue to play an important role as a health aid.
