Abstract: muscle power, speed and acceleration are generally considered important determinants of high performance in sports. thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the relationships between 10- and 30-meter sprint power and vertical jump power among young soccer players. the participants of the study were 143 male soccer players from the categories under-20 (n = 34), under-17 (n = 43) and under-15 (n = 66), which performed vertical jump test, 10-meter sprint test and 30-meter sprint test. the results indicated weak to moderate correlations when the absolute values of time and maximal height were compared (r = -.47 to .71). when the values of power obtained from tests were compared, moderate to strong correlations were found (r = .74 to .87). the results suggest that implementing these three tests would be important because they measure different motor skills. moreover, the correlation between vertical jump power and 30-meter sprint power was surprisingly strong. nevertheless, further studies are required in order to improve understanding about these power relationships.

Abstract: The Education for Health at PET Work Program (PET-Health) is focused on education as a pre-supposition. Actions are directed towards to the integration of service-learning and community. Interdisciplinary principle is directed from fusion of work of graduate students, academics and professionals of health services for the benefit of strengthening primary care and health surveillance. This work aimed to carry out educational activities with Community Health Agents (ACS) of the health facilities of PET-health, with the theme of Chagas disease. This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out from January to May 2013, and the sample consisted of 25 active ACS in six Basic Health Units in the city of Petrolina, Brazil. In spite of actuation of ACS in primary care for over 10 years, a limited knowledge has been developed about this pathology. The health education workshops developed by the PET group clarified the ACS on Chagas disease allowing them to have an expansion of knowledge about the vector, habitat Barber, transmission, clinical manifestations… After the workshop, it was found that the ACS expanded their knowledge about the disease cycle, expanding the possibilities for action in the prevention of this pathology in their respective coverage areas. This work shows an important form of integration between education, service and community that can govern the new direction of health education.

Abstract: Nine new sulfonamides derived from carvacrol were prepared through a reaction between 4-hydroxy-2-isopropyl-5-methyl benzene sulfonyl chloride with various amines in excellent yields (76% - 92%). The sulfonamides were characterized using spectrometric and spectroscopic methods. Among these compounds, three derivatives showed excellent results in antibacterial activity against resistant S. aureus strains, with MIC values ranging from 3.9 to 62.50 ppm. The sulfonamide derivative of 4-methylaniline (SULF-1) had the best performance for all tested strains of bacteria (MIC = 3.9 to 15.62 ppm). Furthermore, the sulfonamide derivative of 4-fluoro aniline (SULF-3), which also presented promising results, was found to have a synergistic effect when combined with tetracycline and partial synergistic effect when combined with ampicillin, exhibiting an FIC index between 0.50 and 0.75. The sulfonamide derivative of 4-methylaniline had a synergistic effect in combination with erythromycin exhibiting an FIC index of 0.37. Carvacrol in association with the antibiotics tested did not have a synergistic effect.

Abstract: objective: to develop and test a model of the human lumbar vertebra for training transpedicular puncture in percutaneous vertebroplasty. materials and methods: thirty lumbar vertebra models were constructed from methacrylate, plaster and ethyl-vinyl-acetate, using a rubber mold of human vertebrae. the intervertebral discs were made of silicone to provide anatomical similarity and fusion of five vertebrae. this model of spinal column segment was positioned within a manikin with an ethyl-vinyl-acetate lining so that direct visualization was not possible. a theoretical course was given to six trainees in radiology and neuroradiology who have tested the models with respect to parameters of similarity with the reality, performing 30 transpedicular punctures in three series of ten punctures a day, with one-week interval between the series. results: each student performed 30 transpedicular punctures; however, eight of these punctures were disregarded because of manufacturing defects of the dummies observed during the procedures. similarity data forms were filled in by all of the trainees following the procedures, with 100% of positive answers as regards the models similarity with the human body. conclusion: it was possible to develop a training model for transpedicular puncture with a satisfactory degree of similarity with the human body, constituting an appropriate tool for training in vertebroplasty.

Abstract: Intrauterine device (IUD) is a common contraceptive method, due to its cost-effectiveness and low complication rates. Uterine perforation is a possible complication and IUD migration to the bladder is a rare and morbid condition. The present report describes an interesting case in which the urinary manifestations started 13 years after insertion, and the main clinical finding was exercise-induced hematuria. 1. Introduction Intrauterine device (IUD) is a widely used reversible contraceptive method, due to its cost-effectiveness and low complication rates [1]. Serious complications are rare; however migration to adjacent pelvic organs is described [2], including the bladder with stone formation and lower urinary tract symptoms [3]. We describe a case of intravesical IUD migration with urologic manifestations started 13 years after insertion, and the main clinical finding was exercise-induced hematuria. 2. Case Report A previously healthy 39-year-old woman presented with recurrent episodes of gross hematuria after middle distance running (5 to 10?km) that ceased some hours after sports activity, rest, and hydration. Moreover, she reported dysuria, urge to urinate, and suprapubic pain, which also worsened with physical activity. Those symptoms were present for the past 4 months and worsened progressively, becoming more intense in recent weeks. In her previous medical and gynecologic anamnesis, she informed that 13 years ago she underwent implantation of IUD, few weeks after cesarean delivery. After the IUD implant, she complained of suprapubic pain and vaginal bleeding treated with rest and analgesics, with remission of symptoms after approximately 1 month. She was assessed by vaginal ultrasound and informed that IUD was not visualized; twelve years after the implantation of IUD she became pregnant again and had a second cesarean. Gynecologic examination was normal, urinalysis revealed microhematuria, and leukocyturia and urine culture demonstrated the presence of Escherichia coli. She was treated with antibiotics, with remission of symptoms only for 4 weeks. Due to recurrence of the symptoms, she was referred to the urologic department for further evaluation. Ultrasonography demonstrated a 20?mm calculus in the bladder dome (Figure 1) and pelvic helical computed tomography revealed a metallic foreign body partially located intravesically with adjacent calcification (Figure 2). Cystoscopy, performed under anesthesia, confirmed the intravesical IUD (partial), complicated by stone that was grasped by forceps, and extracted completely through the endoscopy
