A PTS Optimization Scheme with Superimposed Training for PAPR Reduction in OFDM System  [PDF]

Abstract:

Partial Transmit Sequences (PTS) is an efficient scheme for Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. It does not bring any signal distortion. However, its remarkable drawback is the high computational complexity. In order to reduce the computational complexity, currently many PTS methods have been proposed but with the cost of the loss of PAPR performance of the system. In this paper, we introduce an improved PTS optimization method with superimposed training. Simulation results show that, compared with conventional PTS, improved PTS scheme can achieve better PAPR performance while be implemented with lower computation complexity of the system.

Abstract:


At present, mud pulse transmission systems are widely used in downhole data transmission. But the systems are very low in transmission efficiency, only 5-10 bits/s, with very large anti-inter-symbol-interference (ISI). It cannot meet high requirements for high-speed transmission of modern logging system. The development of communication technology has laid some foundation for this requirement. For this purpose, the Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) Wireless Downhole Transmission Systems are proposed for the first time because of their high transmission rate, anti-inter-symbol-interference (ISI), and high spectral efficiency, etc. Due to non-linear power amplifier (PA) of logging systems with limited dynamic range, the drawbacks of high peak-average power ratio (PAPR) may outweigh all the potential benefits of OFDM wireless downhole transmission systems. Selective mapping (SLM) method can reduce the PAPR of OFDM logging signals without distortion. But at the receiver, the conventional SLM method needs exact bits of side information (SI) to recover the data signal. The probability of erroneous SI detection has a significant influence on the error performance of the system. And individual transmissions of SI result in the reduction of bandwidth efficiency. To restore the exact data signal, our scheme codes the SI bits by linear block codes (LBC), and is easily decoded by syndrome decoding. And then the coding SI bits are superimposed onto the logging signals to omit SI bits transmission. The theory and simulation results show that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional one. Accordingly, the OFDM wireless downhole transmission systems can tackle the high PAPR problem, and highten the transmission rate of logging signals.

Abstract: In LTE system, the QoS should be satisfied by packet scheduling algorithm. To improve the fairness between users in the algorithm of modified large weighted delay first (M-LWDF), two novel packet scheduling algorithms are proposed in this paper, linear and non linear priority adjusting scheme respectively. Results show that the performance of user fairness and packet loss ratio can be improved effectively; moreover, only very little network resources will be consumed.

Abstract: Scanning mechanisms and recognizing process of remote electrical tilt antenna are analyzed, and property and type of remote electrical tilt antenna device searching algorithm is concluded, and 4 feedback states of devices in a scan cycle are summarized and the coping methods are presented, so to provide theoretical basis for an algorithm to improve and optimize the device searching efficiency. Layered analysis method to the various searching depth is taken in the algorithm realization and the impacts on the total scanning time with different number of the devices and mask shift bits are researched, and design method of more optimized algorithm is achieved, and device searching algorithm based on repeated scanning and the hybrid mask shift bits on AISG2.0 protocol is put forward. Simulation and practice show that the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce RET device recognition time and increase device search efficiency.

Abstract: An investigation was carried out on the premature "pop-in" events of rail or wheel steels. It was shown that these are caused by the segregation of elements such as Si, Mn, S, etc. in steels used. The probability of the premature "pop-in" event, p, may be: p=10.08-4.8534lg K_(Q1) where K_(Q1) donotes the specified fracture toughness. The proposal seems to be made that (1-p) is available for the reference of their safety inspection.

Abstract: The availability of genome-wide expression analysis tools allows one to investigate the details of transcriptional regulation during development. Clustering methods can be used to group genes whose expression varies in a similar way in response to developmental changes. Such clustering methods can reveal two major trends. First, they can reveal groups of genes that are co-regulated, and therefore suggest which genes function together during a given developmental process. Second, clustering methods can reveal which conditions resemble each other, pointing out similarities - or dissimilarities - in developmental states that might not be obvious otherwise. Two major developmental parameters for analysis by gene-expression profiling are progression in time ('developmental stage') and tissue, region or cell-type specificity. Previous studies of gene expression during the development of multicellular organisms have mostly emphasized either the developmental stage or the cell-type aspect. For example, clusters of genes co-expressed during the entire life cycle have been defined in Caenorhabditis elegans [1], and changes at the transition from cell proliferation to cell differentiation have been described for the Drosophila eye [2]. Another C. elegans study emphasized cell-type-specific gene-expression programs [3]. Both temporal and spatial aspects of gene expression have been analyzed by transcript profiling of the slime mold Dictyostelium discoideum, an organism in which cell aggregation leads to a multicellular structure with two different mature cell types [4]. Recently, Birnbaum et al. Abstract: Trust-region methods are popular for nonlinear optimization problems. How to determine the predicted reduction of the trust-region subproblem is a key issue for trust-region methods. Powell gave an estimation of the lower bound of the trust-region subproblem by considering the negative gradient direction. In this article, we give an alternate way to estimate the same lower bound of the trust-region subproblem.
