A Study of Rooting Characteristics and Anatomical Structure of Feijoa Cuttings

Abstract: Softwood and 1-year-old hardwood from 4-year-old mother trees of feijoa cultivar ‘Unique’ were used to study the rooting capacity of cuttings during their development. The result showed that the rooting of softwood cuttings was better than that of hardwood cuttings. The secondary structure of stems and the development process of adventitious root were observed by means of paraffin section and microscopy on feijoa cuttings. The result of the observation showed that the adventitious root primordium of feijoa cuttings is a type of induced root primordium. This adventitious root primordium originated from the junction of the vascular cambium and pith rays. There were cyclical and sequential sclerenchyma cells in the phloem and no root primordium in the stems. The adventitious roots of cuttings generated from the edge of the cut section to 0.1-2 cm above the cut. These structural features may be one of the main reasons that our feijoa cuttings showed a low rooting rate.
Effects of Feijoa Cutting Diameter on Seedling Quality

Abstract: In order to understand the effect of feijoa cutting quality on seedling plants, different diameter cutting of cultivar Unique was used as materials for cutting propagation. The results showed that cutting diameter has a remarkable influence on the rooting rate, rooting traits (sum of adventitious roots and average length of roots), germination rate and growth quantity of shoot of Feijoa sellowiana; the rooting rate, traits, germination rate and growth quantity of shoot obtained from using the diameter from 2.5-3.0 mm are significantly greater than those using the diameter 2.0-2.5 and 1.5-2.0 mm; thus the cutting slips of >3.0 mm in diameter are the best choice for seedling growth.
Genetic Relationship of Sweet Cherry (Prunus avium L.) Based on SSR Markers

Abstract: Eleven cultivars of sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.), planted in Sichuan of China, were analyzed to assess the genetic relationship among them with SSR markers. Among 15 pairs of SSR primers, the result shows 10 of them could be amplified 3-7 alleles with an average of 5.2. Locus heterozygosity was 0.6584-0.8413 and the genetic diversity index was 0.7695. The genetic similarity coefficient among the 11 cultivars ranges from 0.5625-0.8636 with an average of 0.7339. Furthermore, according to the results of UPGMA cluster, the 11 sweet cherry cultivars can be divided into 3 groups. For the unknown parents of the sweet cherries, the Cv Summit is possibly the filial generation of Governor wood as female parent and Napoleon as male parent, the Black Tartarian might be related to Napoleon and the Mogami Nishiki might be related to Bing or Xiang Jiao. The direct cross and reciprocal cross will get different crossing progeny in sweet cherry. Thus, the SSR markers are the effective methods for the identification of sweet cherry parents especially, the female parent.
Isolation, Identification of 17α-Ethynylestradiol-Degrading Strain and Its Degradation Characteristics

Abstract: A bacterial strain that degrades 17alpha-ethynylestradiol (EE2) was isolated from activated sludge of wastewater treatment plant treating wastewater from pharmacy factory mainly producing contraceptive medicine in Beijing, China. Based on its morphology, physiological and biochemical characters, as well as 16S rDNA sequence analysis, this strain was identified as Sphingobacterium sp. JCR5. Strain JCR5 can use EE2 as sole carbon and energy source for growth. The optimal temperature and pH for strain JCR5 utilizing EE2 was 25 approximately 40 degrees C and 7 approximately 9, respectively. Metal ions such as Ni2+, Mn2+, Cu2+ and Fe3+ promote growth of strain JCR5, and some metal ions such as Zn2+, Ag+, Pb2+, Ca2+ and Al3+ inhibit its growth. The degradation process for EE2 with initial concentration of 30mg x L(-1) indicated that the degradation rate of EE2 by strain JCR5 within 10 days was 87%.

Method: We reviewed PubMed for articles regarding ixekizumab and the epidemiology and management of plaque psoriasis. Results: In a Phase I clinical trial, treatment with ixekizumab resulted in both clinical and histopathologic improvement of psoriasis, which suggests that IL-17 may be a key driver in the pathogenesis of psoriasis. In a Phase II clinical trial, treatment with ixekizumab resulted in rapid clinical improvement of psoriasis, which lends further support to its role as an effective treatment for patients with chronic moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. Reductions in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score are comparable to those associated with currently marketed biologics. Conclusion: Literature concerning the effects of ixekizumab on chronic moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis is currently limited to two clinical trials. Results suggest that ixekizumab shows great therapeutic promise. However, more large-scale and long-term trials are needed to establish safety and efficacy.

Abstract: In order to meet the requirement of reliably running which is by Electric Vehicle for motor controller, the paper is focused on a sensorless brushless DC motor controller design and a commutation point method. By utilizing the saturation effect of stator iron core, six short voltage pulses are employed to estimate the initial rotor position. After that a series of voltage pulses are used to accelerate the motor. When the motor reaches a certain speed at which the back-electromotive force (EMF) method can be applied, the running state of the motor is smoothly switched at the moment determined by the relationship between the terminal voltage waveform and the commutation phases. “Lagging 90?-α commutation” is bring forward to overcome the shortages existing in the traditional method. The experimental results verify the feasibility and validity of the proposed method.

Abstract: The paper extracts the principal component of China’s?expenditure per capita of local government based on the factor and cluster analysis method, to determine the structure of fiscal expenditure by category of basic services, senior services, economics, resource protection factor, etc. Then the paper analyzes the regional differences in the distribution of fiscal expenditure structure based on the systematic cluster analysis method. The conclusion is that Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai are the advanced service category of expenditure growth pole, which drives around cities’ technology as well as education spending, and promotes regional economic growth.
Dynamics of Brans-Dicke cosmology with varying mass fermions

Abstract: In this paper, the cosmological dynamics of Brans-Dicke theory in which there are fermions with a coupling to BD scalar field as well as a self-interaction potential is investigated. The conditions that there exists a solution which is stable and represents a late-time accelerated expansion of the universe are found. The variable mass of fermions can not vanish exactly during the evolution of the universe once it exists initially. It is shown that the late-time acceleration depends completely on the self-interaction of the fermionic field if our investigation is restricted to the theory with positive BD parameter $\omega$. Provided a negative $\omega$ is allowed, there will be another two class of stable solutions describing late-time accelerated expansion of the universe.
