Di Ciommo, Regina Célia;
Ambiente & Sociedade , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-753X2007000100010
Abstract: the marine extractive reserve of corumbau is located in a region of rich biodiversity, in the south of bahia, in brazil. it was created on demand of the artisanal fishworkers in the area and as a means to promote sustainability of its fishing resources and local economy, besides protecting the area and imposing limits to the predatory industrial fishing. through the participative appraisal with gender focus we have investigated how the work division takes place, as well as the use, access and control of resources and benefits, and also the conditions that limit women's participation and mobility. inducing women participation in the management plan may contribute to the planning of social and environmental policies which take into account gender equity to guarantee conservation and sustainability.

Revista Estudos Feministas , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-026X2003000200005
Abstract: we use the theory of complexity to analise gender questions, showing that those are built by society in an exchange of interactions between nature and culture. the bioanthropological rootsand and the sociocultural characteristics contain different experiences, knowledge and wisdom, in a complex organization in which oposition does notmean extinction, and difference does not imply hierarchy. we can apply morin's "tetralogical ring" concept, which admits disorder, organization, order and interaction to the understanding of the impasse between masculine and feminine, humans and non-humans, towards a paradigmatic change in the social and environmental relations.

Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2010.14032
Abstract: Hexavalent chromium-based passivation treatments have been successfully used as promoters of conversion coatings for many years. Their effectiveness is without question although there are many problems with regard to their environmental suitability. Hexavalent chromium compounds are carcinogenic and toxic. These problems have lead researchers to evaluate other potential systems, with lower toxicity, to ascertain if they can replace chromates as effective passivators. Researchers have proposed several alternative passivation treatments; these are processes based on molybdates, permanganates, titanates, rare earth metal and Cr3+ (considered to be non-carcinogenic) compounds. In this work, zinc coatings obtained from free-cyanide alkaline bath and submitted to a Cr3+ based passivation treatment with different colors were studied. The corrosion behavior was studied by polarization measurements and mainly by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy in 0.6 N NaCl solution. Morphological observations on the coatings surface were also performed. The results indicate that the green-colored Cr3+ passivated coatings have a good corrosion resistance followed by yellow and blue-colored passivation respectively. They could be a less polluting alternative to the traditional chromated coatings.

Abstract: The clinical presentation of celiac disease in children is very variable and differs with age. The prevalence of atypical presentations of celiac disease has increased over the past 2 decades. Several studies in adults and children with celiac disease indicate that obesity/overweight at disease onset is not unusual. In addition, there is a trend towards the development of overweight/obesity in celiac patients who strictly comply with a gluten-free diet. However, the pathogenesis and clinical implications of the coexistence of classic malabsorption (e.g., celiac disease) and overweight/obesity remain unclear. This review investigated the causes and main clinical factors associated with overweight/obesity at the diagnosis of celiac disease and clarified whether gluten withdrawal affects the current trends of the nutritional status of celiac disease patients.
Forces in Struggle in the Country and the City Today in Brazil: Beyond a Dualistic Understanding  [PDF]
Célia Regina Vendramini
Current Urban Studies (CUS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/cus.2015.31006
Abstract: Is it still possible to distinguish the line that separates the country and the city? How do rural and urban workers produce their life today? What are the characteristics that distinguish or approximate them? What movements of resistance have been observed? These questions guide our reflections about the relationship between urban and rural space. Based on a study in the urban pe-riphery and in encampments and settlements of the Landless Rural Workers Movements in Brazil, we seek to understand alternative forms of occupation of space today.
