Integración social del anciano institucionalizado Social integration of institutionalized elderly
Rebeca Osta Samanes,Antonio García Tejedor,Carmen Muro
Gerokomos , 2012,
Objetive is to describe the clinical and dependency characteristics of a group of institutionalised elderly persons suffering from mental diseases, in order to determine the feasibility of their integration into local residential homes. A descriptive, transversal and quantitative study conducted at the Centro Psiquiátrico de Rehabilitación de Sádaba (Psychiatric Rehabilitation Centre of Sádaba) with people aged 65 years or over. Data was collected through medical records, interviews which assessed the current behaviour of the person, the Barthel Index, and the Evolution Scales HoNOS and Chronicity. According to this study, there is a clinical and performance profile in ADL that allows for patients with serious and chronic mental illness to be referred to standard resources within the local community.
Relationships between Hydraulic Parameters of the Nubian Aquifer and Wells in El Shab Area, South Western Desert, Egypt (A Case Study)  [PDF]
Maged El Osta
International Journal of Geosciences (IJG) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ijg.2012.35112
Abstract: For proper water management in the new reclaimed areas, hydraulic parameters of both aquifer and wells related to transmissivity, specific capacity, well loss, formation loss, and water entrance velocity, as well as the relationship between these parameters are the main target after construction of production wells. In El Shab area, the Nubian Sandstone aquifer has a large range of transmissivity (from 483.12 to 1489.24 m2/day) and, also, specific capacity (from 203 to 486.32 m2/day). Relationship of specific capacity and transmissivity is constructed and the established empirical equations can be used to predict the transmissivity of the Nubian aquifer in all new proposed sites for well drilling at which the specific capacity measured without performing pumping tests. On the other hand, the drilled wells in El Shab area exhibit relatively high well losses (25%). The causes for high well losses (entrance velocity (Vn) through water well screen and the distance from the point of water entrance in the well to the point of intake in the pump) are discussed and the relationships are constructed, which seem a positive linear correlation. Relationships between well losses constant for 30 wells with transmissivity and specific capacity, are constructed. These relationships are useful for estimating hydraulic characteristics that are needed for the designs of wells and well fields and for preliminary water-resources management.
An Index of Socio-Economic Well-Being of U.S. Farm Households  [PDF]
Hisham S. El-Osta
Modern Economy (ME) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/me.2014.512104
Abstract: The primary purpose of the paper is to construct a combined index of quality-of-life and economic wellbeing based on national data from the 2004 Agricultural Resource Management Survey. Additional objective is to assess the role of increased utilization of various types of Federal farm programs in the context of the life-cycle on socioeconomic wellbeing. A central finding, which has implication for rural development and the continuity of the family farm, shows a positive relationship between increased intensity of farm program participation and higher likelihoods of socioeconomic wellbeing, particularly among elderly farmers.
Intensity of Off-Farm Employment and Its Impact on Wage Distribution: Does the Source of Health Insurance Coverage Matter?  [PDF]
Hisham S. El-Osta
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2017.76116
Abstract: The determinants of off-farm wages, with emphasis on the role of working full-time off the farm, are examined using data from the 2015 Agricultural Resource Management Survey and quantile regression. The targeted groups of farm operators for the analysis are based on whether health insurance coverage is obtained from the off-farm employer, and whether it is obtained from other sources. Findings indicate a negative association between full-time off-farm work and off-farm wages among farm operators in both categories who are at the higher portions of their respective off-farm wage distributions, which is in accordance with the compensating differential prediction.
Desempleo e informalidad en América Latina: Definiendo políticas públicas para Venezuela
Osta Trestini,Karelys Mercedes;
Revista Venezolana de Gerencia , 2007,
Abstract: abstract this article presents a general view of unemployment and informal economy in latin america, and their evolution en argentina, brazil, chile and venezuela, between 1990 and 2004. the study includes the policies and programs related to this matter, using documentary, descriptive research. what was learned through the experiences of these countries served as a basis for defining public policies for venezuela, directed to providing human and financial capital for the unemployed, workers and employers in the informal economy that would allow them to have access to jobs and the creation of their own micro or small businesses with greater productivity and added value, counting on the support of an adequate legal framework and an institutionality capable of giving an effective, efficient and opportune response to their needs
The e ects of ownership structure on corporate value in the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE)
Sohrab Osta,Hossein Naderi
Management Science Letters , 2012,
Abstract: In the present study, the separate and simultaneous role of concentration and type of ownership on corporate value is investigated. In this study, the ownership structure is classi ed into four classes: the institutional ownership, the corporate ownership, the management ownership and the foreign ownership. In addition, di erent attitudes regarding the above ownership are also tested, that is, active monitoring hypothesis and interest convergence hypothesis. Since, in the sample research no information was found about foreign ownership, this type of ownership was not examined. However, in the case of the other ownerships, a separated hypothesis was developed based on various techniques and their in uence on the corporate value was examined. For each hypothesis, a multiple linear regression model is de ned based on the dependent variables. Companies listed in securities exchange commission of Iran makes up the statistical community of present study and the sample consists of 90 companies during 2002-2008. Two types of tests, including correlation test and cross multiple regression test are implemented to examine the hypothesis. Generally, the results reflect no signi cant relationship between the concentration of ownership and the corporate value. The results of the study show that, while there is no relationship between the institutional ownership and management ownership and the corporate value, there is a signi cant relationship between the corporate ownership and the corporate value.

Desempleo e informalidad en América Latina: Definiendo políticas públicas para Venezuela
Karelys Mercedes Osta Trestini
