The Effect of Bankruptcy on U.S. Air Fares
Ray R. Sturm,Drew B. Winters
Research in Applied Economics , 2010, DOI: 10.5296/rae.v2i2.485
Abstract: Borenstein and Rose (1995) find that bankruptcy filing per se does not substantially affect the pricing behavior of the bankrupt carrier. In September 2005, Delta entered bankruptcy and USAir emerged from bankruptcy. We follow Borenstein and Rose (1995) by collecting daily data on air fares for Delta, Southwest and USAir airlines around these events. We find that financially healthy airlines (Southwest in this study) apparently do not respond to bankruptcy events, which is counter to the findings in Borenstein and Rose (1995). We also find that airlines entering bankruptcy (Delta in this study) do not change their pricing strategy in the near-term around the bankruptcy filing and airlines exiting bankruptcy (USAir in this study) price their tickets aggressively.
Raynaud-Ph nomen
Sturm W,Kirchmair R

Food and Nutrition Sciences (FNS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/fns.2014.522229
Abstract: Evidence for benefits of anti-oxidative power of polyphenols in cardiovascular diseases has been established. In the present study, effect of polyphenol rich green tea on selected metabolic biomarkers among Asian Indian women with metabolic syndrome in normal free living condition has been recorded. Thirty three Asian Indian women (>30 y) confirmed as having metabolic syndrome, were enrolled for the present study based on written informed consent. Subjects were asked to consume three cups of green tea daily for a period of four months. Regular telephonic contact and periodic visit to supply the tea were made to ensure compliance with the intervention and maintenance of lifestyle and dietary pattern, as followed before the experimental period. Parameters analyzed at baseline have been used as control data to eliminate individual variation. Double-blind analysis of selected metabolic markers was done at baseline, 2 months and 4 months of the intervention period. At four months, a significant reduction from baseline was observed in weight (2%), waist circumference (4.5%), blood sugar (4%), glycosylated hemoglobin (4%), total cholesterol (11%) and LDL cholesterol (13%) (p < 0.01). The effect of green tea consumption on BMI, fasting insulin, HDL cholesterol, triglyceride, VLDL, C-reactive protein and homocysteine levels was either inconsistent or non significant. The present study showed that green tea consumption by free living subjects with metabolic syndrome resulted in significant improvements in some of the cardiovascular risk factors including visceral fat, blood sugar and cholesterol level.

Abstract: creativity and innovation drive competitiveness in the 21st century enterprises. dynamic hyper-intensive competitive markets demand widespread innovations from all employees in most global enterprises. leaders influence and set the contextual environments under which their employees express creativity. this paper will examine how different leadership models relate with individual creativity. it is noted that the mindful consciousness of individuals, including their leaders, play significant roles in the individuals' creativity. this exploratory research study first defines creativity and individual creativity, and then examines the five different orientations of leaders' influences on the individuals' creativity. in conclusion, selected managerial and educational implications are suggested.
Technology Roadmapping for Commercializing Strategic Innovations
Ray R. Gehani
Journal of technology management & innovation , 2007,
Abstract: In the increasingly globalized world economies, a variety of drivers define the market and regulatory contexts for commercializing the strategic innovations that provide significant competitive advantage in the near-term and long-term future. In this study we examine how technological roadmapping integrates these strategic contextual factors with the organizational capabilities and resources of the firm to commercialize strategic innovations. This is done by first examining four roadmapping case-studies: (1) at Motorola, (2) at Sandia National laboratories, (3) the National and International Roadmaps for Semiconductors, and (3) nanotechnologies. A five stage process is proposed for commercializing strategic innovations. Finally, managerial implications and potential future research are discussed.

Finite Temperature and Density Effects in Planar Q.E.D
G. Gat,R. Ray
Physics , 1994, DOI: 10.1006/aphy.1995.1020
Abstract: The behavior of finite temperature planar electrodynamics is investigated. We calculate the static as well as dynamic characteristic functions using real time formalism. The temperature and density dependence of dielectric and permeability functions, plasmon frequencies and their relation to the screening length is determined. The radiative correction to the fermion mass is also calculated. We also calculate the temperature dependence of the electron (anyon) magnetic moment. Our results for the gyromagnetic ratio go smoothly to the known result at zero temperature, $g=2$, in accordance with the general expectation.
Phenomenological analysis of angular correlations in 7 TeV proton-proton collisions from the CMS experiment
R. L. Ray
Physics , 2011, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.84.034020
Abstract: A phenomenological analysis is presented of recent two-particle angular correlation data on relative pseudorapidity ($\eta$) and azimuth reported by the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Collaboration for $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV proton-proton collisions. The data are described with an empirical jet-like model developed for similar angular correlation measurements obtained from heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The same-side (small relative azimuth), $\eta$-extended correlation structure, referred to as the {\em ridge}, is compared with three phenomenological correlation structures suggested by theoretical analysis. These include additional angular correlations due to soft gluon radiation in $2 \rightarrow 3$ partonic processes, a one-dimensional same-side correlation ridge on azimuth motivated for example by color-glass condensate models, and an azimuth quadrupole similar to that required to describe heavy ion angular correlations. The quadrupole model provides the best overall description of the CMS data, including the ridge, based on $\chi^2$ minimization in agreement with previous studies. Implications of these results with respect to possible mechanisms for producing the CMS same-side correlation ridge are discussed.
