Raposo,Henrique;
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2009,
Abstract: in this essay, we are mostly interested in islamism as a phenomenon that affects the european epistemic community dealing with security issues. as raymond aron often remarked, the work of the political scientist is about destroying the myths that surround both politicians and intellectuals. according to this, we aim to clarify the language and the narratives used in the current debate on european islamism. hence, we will divide our essay into three parts: codification of the general characteristics of islamism as an ideology; description of how european islamism acts among european societies; and finally we develop an analytical perspective on the issue, by refusing the dominant paradigm, which we believe too biased by an excess of communitarian and religious identity.
Raposo,Henrique;
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2008,
Abstract: the bush era was marked by two analytical mistakes. in 2003, america was seen as the "empire". in 2008, conventional wisdom established that we live in a multipolar world. these two mistakes share a common cause: a misunderstanding of the concepts of "unipolarity" and "constitutional order". we aim to demonstrate the following points: (1) the interstate system remains unipolar; (2) a key change has happened not at the level of structural unipolarity, but at the level of the constitutional order (namely in the american system of alliances). we can assert that the unipolar moment has not ended. what has come to an end is the eurocentric moment at the constitutional order.
O novo Ocidente político
Raposo,Henrique;
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2010,
Abstract: western values have been expanded to asia. however, this western expansion leads to a problem when we look at the concept of west. the expansion of the west to the indic and pacific oceans, whereas it formerly comprised just the north atlantic region, demands that we create a new concept with the analytical capacity to capture this enlarged western world. as a matter of fact, barack obama speaks about a ?global system of democracies?. this democratic global system is a new political west that goes well beyond the old west, geographically confined to the north atlantic.

O novo Ocidente político The new political West
Henrique Raposo
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2010,
Western values have been expanded to Asia. However, this Western expansion leads to a problem when we look at the concept of West. The expansion of the West to the Indic and Pacific Oceans, whereas it formerly comprised just the North Atlantic region, demands that we create a new concept with the analytical capacity to capture this enlarged Western world. As a matter of fact, Barack Obama speaks about a “Global System of Democracies”. This democratic global system is a new political West that goes well beyond the old West, geographically confined to the North Atlantic.
O islamismo nas sociedades europeias: Os mitos da comunidade mu ulmana , do diálogo de civiliza es e do isl o moderado Islamism in the European societies: the myths of Muslim community, civilizations’ dialogue and moderate Islam
Henrique Raposo
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2009,
Henrique Raposo
Rela??es Internacionais (R:I) , 2008,
The Bush Era was marked by two analytical mistakes.
