SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION OF SOME NOVEL PYRAZOLES AND THEIR GROWTH PROMOTING ACTIVITY ON SOME FLOWERING PLANTS

Abstract: A series of chlorosubstituted 4-aroylpyrazoles have been synthesized by refluxing of chlorosubstituted-3-aroylflavones and 3-alkoylchromone with phenylhydrazine hydrochloride in dioxane medium with 0.5 ml of piperidine. Chlorosubstituted-3-aroylflavones and chlorosubstituted-3-alkoylchromone were prepared by refluxing them separately with iodine crystal in ethanol. Initially chlorosubstituted-3-aroylflavanones and 3-alkoylchromanone have been prepared separately by the interaction of different aldehydes with 1(2-hydroxy-3,5-dichlorophenyl)-3-phenyl-1,3-propanedione. Constitutions of synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis, molecular weight determination, UV-Visible, I.R. and 1H-NMR spectral data. The titled compounds were evaluated for their growth promoting activity on some flowering plants viz. Papaver rhoeas, Dianthus chinensis, Candy tuft, Calendula officinalise, Gladiola tristis, Gaillardia.
Telegraph Equations and Complementary Dirac Equation from Brownian Movement  [PDF]

Abstract: Telegraph equations describing the particle densities in Brownian movement on a lattice site have been derived and it has been shown that the complementary classical Dirac equation appears naturally as the consequence of correlations in particle trajectories in Brownian movement. It has also been demonstrated that Heisenberg uncertainty relation between energy and time is the necessary and sufficient condition to transform this classical equation into usual Dirac’s relativistic quantum equation.

Abstract: In a competitive business landscape, large organizations such as insurance companies and banks are under high pres-sure to innovate, improvise and distinguish their products and services while continuing to reduce the time-to market for new product introductions. Traditional approaches to software reliability modeling for such software are black box-based. Bad structure or model again can lead us to lower down these non functional properties. The basic constructs of the model are objects. We will not deal about the identification of the objects, as may be referred in many books, but how to model those objects. The objective of this paper is to provide a philosophical approach, using Goal-Question-Metric paradigm, to structure or model the identified objects of software system, in better way to improve the quality of the software.
Fuzzy Inventory Model for Deteriorating Items with Time Dependent Demand and Partial Backlogging  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper we developed a fuzzy inventory model for deteriorating items with time dependent demand rate. Shortages are allowed and completely backlogged. The backlogging rate of unsatisfied demand is assumed to be a decreasing exponential function of waiting time. The demand rate, deterioration rate and backlogging rate are assumed as a triangular fuzzy numbers. The purpose of our study is to defuzzify the total profit function by signed distance method and centroid method. Further a numerical example is also given to demonstrate the developed crisp and fuzzy models. A sensitivity analysis is also given to show the effect of change of the parameters.
An Inventory Model for Perishable Items with Time Varying Stock Dependent Demand and Trade Credit under Inflation  [PDF]

Abstract: In the classical inventory models, it is assumed that the retailer pays to the supplier as soon as he received the items and in such cases the supplier offers a cash discount or credit period (permis-sible delay) to the retailer. In this paper we presented an inventory model for perishable items with time varying stock dependent demand under inflation. It is assumed that the supplier offers a credit period to the retailer and the length of credit period is dependent on the order quantity. The purpose of our study is to minimize the present value of retailer’s total cost. Numerical examples are also given to demonstrate the presented mode.

Abstract: The ultimate aim of lipid-modifying therapy is cardiovascular risk reduction for most patients, while patients with severe hypertriglyceridaemia are primarily treated to reduce the risk of acute pancreatitis. Patients and doctors are pleased to see improved lipid parameters, but without accompanying risk reduction this would be a somewhat hollow victory. Treatment decisions are therefore based on an assessment of risk, rather than on lipid levels alone. The article titled ‘A clinical approach to dyslipidaemia’ (p. 108) provides more information on risk assessment and indications for lipid-modifying therapy.
Comparative Study of Length-Weight Relationship of Puntius, Inhabiting Nainital and Bhimtal Lakes, India

Abstract: Length-weight relationships of Puntis was calculated, collected from lake Nainital and Bhimtal. Total 50 samples (pooled) of fish from Nainital and 65 samples (pooled) from Bhimtal were calculated. Results reveal that that there is a close relationship between the length and weight of fish. The value n of length-weight relationship in Lake Bhimtal was 3.759 and 3.695 in lake Nainital from pooled data.

Abstract: Present research has been designed to study the length-weight relationship of Tor tor of Lake Bhimtal in relation with fluoride concentration. Present study concentrated on the purpose to measure the variation in condition from expected weight for length as an indicator of pollution. The Total length (TL) and Total Weight (TW) were measured for hundred fish samples. Least square regression of log 10 W x log 10 TL produced the over all equation log W = -1.2714 + 2.5113 TL with the value of R2 = 0.4781.

Abstract: Patients with hair loss are seeking treatment at a younger age and during earlier stages. Not all need hair transplants. Because of the lack of assured management and the fear of side-effects, patients are turning to ineffective alternative remedies from self-claimed experts. In this report, we discuss the available treatment options and how best they can be used in combination to produce satisfactory results. The traditional approach consists of administration of drugs such as minoxidil and finasteride. We propose a hypothesis that nutritional supplements, 2% ketoconazole shampoo and low-level laser therapy along with finasteride 1 mg used once in 3 days with 2% minoxidil used everyday, given in a cyclical medicine program may be useful to manage hair loss and achieve new hair growth. The scientific rationale for such an approach is explained. The need for further studies to establish the efficacy of the regime is stressed upon.
THEORY OF PLASTICO ML IN γ–IRRADIATED ALKALI HALIDE CRYSTALS

Abstract: The present paper reports the results of some theoretical approach made to the studies of mechanoluminescence (ML) in coloured alkali halide crystals. It is shown that moving dislocations produced during plastic deformation of crystalline materials cause light emission due to several processes like mechanical or electrostatic interaction of dislocations with defect centres, the dielectric breakdown of adsorbed gaseous molecules by the surface accumulated dislocation charges, the generation of holes during decay of mobile dislocations on the surfaces of crystals, etc. On the basis of rate equations, expressions are derived for the rise and decay of ML intensity at a given strain rate. The estimated values of ML intensities for different crystals are found to be comparable with the experimentally observed values. The expression derived are able to explain the dependence of ML intensity on several parameters like strain-rate, defect centre density, temperature, applied stress, crystal- size etc.
