Software Selection in Manufacturing Industries Using a Fuzzy Multiple Criteria Decision Making Method, PROMETHEE  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper presents an effective decision making framework for software selection in manufacturing industries using a multiple criteria decision making method, Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE). The method is improved in the present work by integrating with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is introduced to handle the imprecision of the human decision making process. The proposed decision making framework is practical for ranking competing software products in terms of their overall performance with respect to multiple criteria. An example is included to illustrate the approach.
Simultaneous Design of T-S Fuzzy Controllers and Observers Using GA

Abstract: Fuzzy control can be used to improve existing controller systems by adding an extra layer of intelligence to the current control method. But most of the cases it is very difficult to measure the state variables. Various design methods are available to design fuzzy observers which can be used to estimate the state variables. But simultaneous design of fuzzy controllers and observers using genetic algorithm is not reported so far. This study presents the Simultaneous Design of Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Controllers and Observers using Genetic Algorithm. Benchmarking control problem, namely the inverted pendulum system is simulated with the designed fuzzy controller and observer and the results are promising.

Abstract: The “Software Package for Aerosol Size Distribution” is a novel graphical user interface application software used for the study of atmospheric aerosol size distribution from various aerosol models (Continental clean, Continental average, Continental polluted, Urban, Desert, Maritime clean, Maritime polluted, Maritime tropical, Arctic, Antarctic) and/or with different aerosol components (insoluble, water soluble, soot, sea salt (accumulation mode), sea salt (coarse mode), mineral (nucleation mode), mineral (accumulation mode), mineral (coarse mode), mineral (transported), sulfate), as a function of radius. This article discussed about the atmospheric aerosol, aerosol size distribution and the software description. Application case studies to generate the aerosol size distribution for an urban aerosol model and with different components have also been presented in this note.

Abstract: The aim of this article is to study the asymptotic behaviour of some low-cost control problems. These problems motivate the study of H-convergence with weakly convergingdata. An improved lower bound for the limit of energy functionals correspondingto weak data is established, in the periodic case. This fact is used to prove the Gamma-convergence of a low-cost problem with Dirichlet-type integral. Finally, we study the asymptotic behaviour of a low-cost problem with controls converging to measures.
4D Model Through GIS for Planning and Scheduling of Residential Construction Projects

Abstract: Construction industry requires a highly accurate planning, scheduling and management of the process of the project which can facilitate the overall optimization of the cost, time and resources. The traditional system of using of AutoCAD drawings, MS Project and Primavera for scheduling does not satisfy the clients in making them understanding the project status and also find time consuming. Hence, an efficient method is proposed in this study implementing Geographical Information System (GIS) as a platform to link the plan of building and its corresponding schedule of executing the construction of building. GIS is relatively an emerging field for managing the spatial and the non-spatial data. The aim of the study is intended to demonstrate methodology of creating the GIS based 4D Model for optimization and real time monitoring of the project. The plan of the building drafted using the drafting software (AutoCAD) and the corresponding schedule of the building generated by Project Management Software (MS Project) were interlinked using GIS platform. This enables the planner to get a clear picture in the planning stage and better control for the progress of the work in the most appropriate manner rather than the conventional methods of controlling the progress of the work with the help of management software. GIS based enclosure also paves the way to include the non-spatial information like bill of quantities, labour requirement, safety recommendations, etc. and can be stored as a tabular form for the corresponding drawing. A case study of one storey residential building at Thangam nagar in Erode, Tamilnadu, India has been selected for the study.
Breaking Barriers to an AIDS Model with Macaque-Tropic HIV-1 Derivatives

Abstract: The development of an animal model of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1)/AIDS that is suitable for preclinical testing of antiretroviral therapy, vaccines, curative strategies, and studies of pathogenesis has been hampered by the human-specific tropism of HIV-1. Although simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) or HIV-1/SIV chimeric viruses (SHIVs)-rhesus macaque models are excellent surrogates for AIDS research, the genetic differences between SIV or SHIV and HIV-1 limit their utility as model systems. The identification of innate retroviral restriction factors has increased our understanding about blockades to HIV-1 replication in macaques and provided a guide for the construction of macaque-tropic HIV-1 clones. However, while these viruses replicate in macaque cells in vitro, they are easily controlled and have not caused AIDS in host animals, indicating that we may not fully understand the restrictive barriers of innate immunity. In this review, we discuss recent findings regarding HIV-1 restriction factors, particularly as they apply to cross-species transmission of primate lentiviruses and the development of a macaque model of HIV-1/AIDS.
Assessment of Rockfall Hazard along the Road Cut Slopes of State Highway-72, Maharashtra, India  [PDF]

Abstract:

Rockfall is a major problem in high hill slopes and rocky mountainous regions and construction of highways at these rockfall prone areas often require stable slopes. The causes of rockfall are presence of discontinuities, high angle cut slopes, heavy rainfall, and unplanned slope geometry etc. Slope geometry is one of the most triggering parameters for rockfall, when there are variations in slope angle along the profile of slope. The Present study involves rockfall hazard assessment of road cut slopes for 15 km distance starting from Mahabaleshwar town along State Highway-72 (SH-72). The vertical to subvertical cut slopes are prone to instability due to unfavorable orientation of discontinuities in slope face of weathered and altered basaltic rockmass. The predominant type of instability has been found as wedge type failure involving medium to large size blocks. In order to investigate the existing stability conditions, analyses were carried out at two locations under different slope conditions. The kinematic analysis was performed using stereographic projection method. RockFall 4.0 numerical simulator software was used to calculate the maximum bounce heights, total kinetic energies and translational velocities of the falling rockmass blocks, and a comparative analysis is presented with increasing the mass of blocks and height of the slope. The result of numerical analysis shows that varying slope angle geometry creates more problems as compared to the mass of blocks in the scenario of rockfall.

SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF ROSIGLITAZONE AND GLICLAZIDE IN PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS BY HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY

Abstract: a simple reverse phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous determination of rosiglitazone (rgl) and gliclazide (glc) in puré and pharmaceutical dosage forms. aphenomenex gemini reverse phase c column (150x4.6mm i.d., 5μ) was used with a mobile phase containing a mixture of acetonitrile and water (ph 3 adjusted with ortho phosphoric acid) in the ratio of 70: 30. the flow rate was 0.6ml/min. and effluents were monitored at 250nm and eluted at 2.41min. (rgl) and 5.22min. (glc). calibration curve was plotted with a range from 0.025-2.5μg/ml for rgl and 0.08 to 8μg/ml for glc. the assay was validated for the parameters like accuracy (>97.87% recovery), precision (intra-day and inter-day with %rsd < 2), robustness and system suitability parameters. henee the method was found to suitable for the routine quality control of the drugs in puré and pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Abstract: The primary factor of information mining is to gain understanding of the information, and pull knowledge (inter-relational patterns) from the data. Applying data mining techniques in diabetic information can enhance systematic analysis. We propose a changed equal distance binning interval approach to discretizing continuous valued attributes. The approximate distance of the desired intervals is preferred based throughout the thoughts of healthcare expert and is offered as an input parameter to the model. First we have converted numeric attributes into categorical form based on above proficiency. Modified Apriori algorithm was utilized to come up with rules on Hospital diabetes information. We discover that the usually forgotten pre-processing methods in knowledge discovery are the most important elements in determining the achievements of a information mining application. Lastly we have produced the association regulations which have been useful to identify general associations within the information, to understand the union involving the calculated areas whether or not the patient goes on to cultivate diabetes or otherwise not. Multilevel based association rules are implemented on Diabetes data for analysis.

Abstract: Photograph sear reconstructmethods usually fail to capture the user’s intention when the query termism ambiguous. Therefore, reconstruct with user interactions, or active reconstruct, is highly demanded to effect veryimprove the search performance. The essential problem in active reconstruct is how to target the user’s intention. To complete this goal, this paper presents a structural information based sample selection strategy to reduce the user’s labeling efforts. Furthermore, to localize the user’s intention in the visual feature e space, a novel local-global discriminative dimension reduction algorithmic proposed. In this algorithm, a sub manifold is leer need by transferring the local geometry and the discriminate vet information from the labeled photographs to the whole (global) photographdatabase. Experiments on both synthetic datasets and a real Network photograph sear chdatasetdemenstruate he effectiveness of the proposed active reconstruct scheme, including both the structural information based active sample selection strategy and the local-global discriminative dimension reduction algorithm.
