Abstract: the growth performance of rhizophora apiculata blume (mangrove) seedlings in the presence and absence of exogenous gibberellic acid (ga3 ) under different combinations of salinity and light was analyzed. root and shoot growth responses of 75-day old seedlings in liquid-culture, were measured. it was concluded that light exhibited a significant inhibitory effect on all the growth parameters-number of primary roots, primary root length, shoot elongation, number of leaves, total leaf area; and, the ga3 treatment singly or in combinations with light, showed a significant influence on the total leaf area and primary root length

Abstract: exposure of mangrove seedlings to electric current was studied at an intensity of 10, 20 and 30 ma to 0.5, 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 h in different combinations, either to plumule or radicle or both parts of the propagules of rhizophora mucronata poir (sample size = 30). the electric current-treated propagules and untreated control were cultured hydroponically in sea water for 75 days, and root and shoot growth parameters measured. the root elongation was significantly influenced by duration of exposure, site of propagule treated and combined effects of current intensity x site of propagule treated. leaf number and area were significantly influenced by intensity of electric current and duration of exposure; whereas shoot elongation was affected by the duration of exposure. the root number was significantly affected by duration of exposure. in general, the electric impulse improved the growth characteristics of shoot and root.
Simulation and Implementation of a High Performance Torque Control Scheme of IM Utilizing FPGA

Abstract: Thi paper presents a novel approach to design and implementation of a high perfromane torque control scheme i.e. direct torque control with space vector modulation(DTC-SVM) of three phase induction motor using Field Programmable gate array (FPGA). The conventional direct torque control (DTC) is one of control scheme that is used commonly in induction motor control system. This method supports a very quick and precise torque response. However, the conventional DTC is not perfect and has some disadvantages. To minimize the ripples of the electromagnetic torque and flux linkage and to fix the variable switching frequency produced in the conventional DTC, this paper proposes improved DTC-SVM concept. Both simulation and experimental results show that the proposed scheme can dramatically improve the steady state performance while preserving the dynamic performance of the conventional DTC.

Se midió crecimiento de la raíz y el brote en plántulas de 75 días de germinación en medio de cultivo líquido. Se concluye que la luz presenta un efecto inhibitorio significativo respecto a todos los parámetros de crecimiento - número de raíces primarias, longitud de la raíz primaria, elongación de la plántula, número de hojas, área total de las hojas; y el tratamiento de GA3 solo o en combinaciones con luz, mostró una influencia significativa sobre el área total de las hojas y longitud de la raíz primaria

Abstract: The present study was aimed to develop an extended release tablet of Metoprolol Succinate for the treatment of hypertension. Four extended release formulations F1-F4 were developed using varying proportions of Hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose K100M, Sodium carboxy methyl cellulose and Eudragit L30 D55 by wet granulation. Five extended release formulations F5-F9 containing HPMC K100M and HPMC 5cps in varying concentration were developed by direct compression. The physico-chemical and in-vitro release characteristics of all the formulations were investigated and compared. Two formulations, F7 and F8 have shown not more 25% drug release in 1st h, 20-40% drug release at 4th h, 40-60% drug release at 8th h and not less than 80% at 20th h and the release pattern conform with USP specification for 24 h extended release formulation. It can be conclusively stated that optimum concentration of HPMC K100M (58-65%) by direct compression method can yield an extended release of Metoprolol succinate for 24 hours.

Abstract: Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) are a suitable hardware platform for the industrial control systems. These dynamically reconfigurable FPGAs can be used as an alternative digital solution to conventional microcontrollers and DSPs to ensure fast operation. This paper presents the feasibility of embedding the Direct Torque Control with Space Vector Modulation (DTC-SVM) of an induction motor into FPGA.The DTC-SVM of induction motor drives is simulated in a Matlab/Simulink environment using a Xilinx System Generator.
Ultrasonic characterisation of calcium phosphate glasses and glass-ceramics with addition of TiO2

Abstract: Calcium phosphate based glasses with different concentrations of TiO2 (0 to 2.5 mol%) were prepared and their corresponding glass-ceramics were obtained by controlled heat treatments. The amorphous nature of glasses and the presence of crystalline phases in glass-ceramics were studied through XRD studies. Density, molar volume, ultrasonic velocities, attenuation, elastic constants and microhardness of glass and glass-ceramics were used to study structural and mechanical properties. The results indicate that the added TiO2 increases the cross link density of phosphate glasses and thus results in higher network stability. The glass-ceramics exhibits higher mechanicalstrength when compared with its corresponding glasses.

Abstract: A 36-year-old male alleged to have consumed carbamate pesticide liquid ([email protected]) developed toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) within twenty-four hours of intake. Though drugs have been commonly incriminated as offending agents for TEN, carbamate pesticide was found to be the causative agent in our case.
