International Journal of Electrical, Electronics and Data Communication , 2013,
Abstract: Power line systems use the standard electrical power lines to transmit data. For many years, power lines have been used for low speed (<30kbps) data communication in application like power distribution, automation and remote meter reading. The objective of this work is to have a quantitative assessment of the important physiological variables of the patients during critical periods of their biological functions from a distance. The distance may be realized within a hospital and more specific from ICU room to nursing or monitoring room. Patient monitoring equipment includes; acute care physiologic monitoring system continuously measures and displays data on vital signs, such as heart rate, body temperature and respiration rate. In this work, system consists of embedded systems and communication channel has been designed for transmitting real data mentioned above. Two main topologies have been implemented; Firstly two wires has been used as a channel for basic embedded system and secondly power line was used as a transmission channel for the same purpose; in other hand GSM is used for sending SMS to doctor’s mobile.

Jurnalul de Chirurgie , 2008,
Abstract: Among the postoperative complications in esophageal surgery, the partial or total substitut necrosis is one of the most challenging and frightening to life complication. The causes which ultimately lead to a partial or total substitut necrosis are multiple such as anastomotic tension, superior thoracal inlet compressions etc. Jejunum free flap is known in surgical literature as a viable method of reconstruction after extensive cervical cancer resections. We present a clinical case where this method was used for reconstruction after a partial esophageal substitut necrosis.
The Effects of Yaji Extract On Liver Enzymes of Carbon Tetrachloride Induced Hepatotoxicity In Adult Wistar Rats
1 Ezejindu D.N
American Journal of Engineering Research , 2013,
Abstract: Effects of yaji extract on liver enzymes of carbon tetrachloride induced hepatotoxicity were studied. Twenty wistar rats weighing between 155-220g were used. They were allocated into four groups of five animals each. Group A animals served as the control and received 0.6ml of distilled water. Group B received 0.5ml of yaji extract, group C received 0.5ml of yaji extract plus 0.3ml of carbon tetrachloride while group D received 0.3ml of carbon tetrachloride. The oral administration lasted for twenty-eight days. Twenty-four hours after the last administration, the animals were weighed and sacrificed using chloroform. The Liver weight were recorded. The evaluation of the liver enzymes (AST, ALP,ALT) were carried out using randox kit method. The mean alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine amino transferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) levels of group D animals were significantly higher than the control.
“Invading Your Hearts and Minds”: Call of Duty and the (Re)Writing of Militarism in U.S. Digital Games and Popular Culture
Frédérick Gagnon 1
European Journal of American Studies , 2010, DOI: 10.4000/ejas.8831
Abstract: The goal of this article is to discuss how digital war games such as the Call of Duty series elicit consent for the U.S. military, militarism and the wars waged by the U.S. and its allies abroad. Building bridges between the humanities approach to Game Studies, American Studies, International Relations and Critical Geopolitics, we start from the assumption that digital games are more than “kid’s games”; they are sophisticated vehicles inhabiting and disseminating specific ideologies (Leonard 2004). Accordingly, our goal is to conduct a content analysis (Sisler 2008) of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to show how these games contain images and narratives that (1) resonate with and reinforce a tabloid imaginary of post-9/11 geopolitics (Debrix 2008); (2) glorify military power and elicit consent for the idea that state violence and wars are inevitable; and (3) encourage our myopia by depicting a sanitized vision of war and downplaying the negative consequences of state violence (Stahl 2006). The conclusion invites players to think about ways to criticize the way games like Call of Duty employ and deploy values that (re)write the militarist mindset that has often pervaded the post-9/11 U.S. national security debate.

Pakistan Veterinary Journal , 2007,
Abstract: Outer membrane proteins (OMPs) play a significant role in the pathogenesis of Pasteurellosis. OMPs of Pasteurella multocida (P. multocida) B:2 strain were characterized by using sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) technique. Molecular weights of OMPs were determined by plotting graph between Rf value and log of molecular weight. A total of 6 polypeptides ranging from 15 kDa to 91 kDa were observed which included two intense bands of 39 and 32 kDa, and four less intense bands of 91, 72, 44 and 15 kDa. OMPs, therefore, can be used to identify strain specific markers that would form a useful basis to differentiate them from field isolates of P. multocida of same serotype i.e., B:2. However, this was a preliminary type of work and further research using various field isolates as well as vaccinal strains are needed.

Jurnal Teknologi dan Industri Pangan , 2007,
Abstract: In the present study, several different rice were evaluated for their physicochemical properties and glycemic index. They were IR 36, Batang Piaman, Mekongga, X rice (unidentified varieties), Taj Mahal, parboiled rice of Batang Piaman and X rice. IR 36 Batang Piaman and x rice showed comparable milling quality. Parboiling process increased milling quality of rice. Batang Piaman and Taj Mahal were classified as high amylase, while Mekongga and X rice were classified as medium amylase. Parboiling process changed the pasting properties of rice from the initial type B (for IR 36 and Mekongga) and type C (for Batang Piaman, and X rice) to type D. IR 36 and Taj Mahal showed low and medium glycemic index (Gl), respectively. Varied responses were observed with glycemic index (Gl) of rice due to parboiling process. Parboiling decreased the Gl of Batang Piaman from 86 to 59. however, similar response was not observed on the other rice. The result, emphasized that it is possible to find out the naturally domestic rice with low Gl.
