The sustainable management of the landscape
Jean-David Gerber,Raimund Rodewald,Peter Knoepfel
The landscape is increasingly perceived as a resource. For this reason, it is necessary to find legal, political and economic instruments that will succeed in managing this "resource landscape" in the long term. The Swiss government recently introduced the instrument of regional nature parks into the legislation governing nature and landscape preservation; the proposed parks are organized on the basis of the French model. The examination of the new parks from the perspective of much older management structures, i.e. the civic municipalities (bourgeoisies) and corporations, makes it possible to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of each of these instruments in their contribution to the resolution of use rivalries between actors who use or influence the resource landscape. This comparison also enables the formulation of practical recommendations regarding the management of this resource.

Trust Management for Mobile Media Distribution  [PDF]
Raimund K. Ege
Engineering (ENG) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2013.512112
Abstract:

Multimedia content delivery to capable smart phones with high-speed next-generation Internet connectivity is becoming commonplace. However, the openness of delivery demands adaptive and robust management of intellectual property rights. The purpose of this article is to describe a framework to address the central issues in content delivery: a scalable peer-to-peer-based content delivery model. Our method pairs the delivery with a secure access control model that enables data providers to secure a return from making their original content available. Our work resulted in a prototype implementation written in Java that includes a client for the Android mobile platform. Adding robust trust management to scalable peer-to-peer content delivery is the major significance of our work.

Compact and user-friendly ultrasound acquisition systems optimized for field recording
Specht, Raimund;
Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0001-37652004000200040
Abstract: a compact and rugged hardware interface for laptop-based ultrasound recording in the field has been developed. the versatile devices overcome the limitations and drawbacks of previously available solutions. the accompanying recording software enables flexible hard disk recording for both manual and automated operation.

Archaeological Excavations in Disappeared Diplomacy. The Relations of the GDR with Latin America
Raimund Kramer
Revista CIDOB d'Afers Internacionals , 1995,
Abstract: The German Democratic Republic (GDR), as a failed political system, has been converted into a historical phenomenon for researchers and columnists. With the opening of the archives of the German Unified Socialist Party and the various parties and organizations of the GDR,the author of this article analyses the international relations of this disappeared country and more specifically its foreign policy regarding Latin America. For this purpose he divides the study into two periods: from 1949 to 1955, the year in which the GDR was bestowed its sovereignty, although not its real independence from the USSR, and from 1955 until its disappearance. The GDR’s foreign relations with Latin America were of little importance in comparisonwith those ties it maintained with Europe and Africa. Of these, 75% were centred on relations with Cuba, Nicaragua and Chile (especially during the period of the Unidad Popular). The object of the study is examined from a triple perspective: its strategic role and political relations, its economic weight and the ideological dimension.

Towards Preserving Model Coverage and Structural Code Coverage
Kirner Raimund
EURASIP Journal on Embedded Systems , 2009,
Abstract: Embedded systems are often used in safety-critical environments. Thus, thorough testing of them is mandatory. To achieve a required structural code-coverage criteria it is beneficial to derive the test data at a higher program-representation level than machine code. Higher program-representation levels include, beside the source-code level, languages of domain-specific modeling environments with automatic code generation. For a testing framework with automatic generation of test data this will enable high retargetability of the framework. In this article we address the challenge of ensuring that the structural code coverage achieved at a higher program representation level is preserved during the code generations and code transformations down to machine code. We define the formal properties that have to be fullfilled by a code transformation to guarantee preservation of structural code coverage. Based on these properties we discuss how to preserve code coverage achieved at source-code level. Additionally, we discuss how structural code coverage at model level could be preserved. The results presented in this article are aimed toward the integration of support for preserving structural code coverage into compilers and code generators.
