MEDISAN , 2010,
Thirty patients needing exodontias of the lower molars, assisted in the Stomatological Department of "Dr. Joaquín Castillo Duany" Teaching Provincial Hospital from Santiago de Cuba, during February to March, 2008 were evaluated in order to specify the effectiveness of the application of the anesthetic techniques: conventional conductive technique and the variant technique of Dr. Mandado Bertod. Two stomatologists of wide experience and good performance in the procedures and 15 patients for each technique were selected, as well as the variables that allowed to determine and to measure the effectiveness for each of these techniques. The variant technique of Dr. Mandado turned out to be more effective to block the inferior alveolar nerve, with the administration of less than a carpule for each molar extraction carried out, however, the conventional one required 1,3 carpules as average and its effectiveness was unsatisfactory.

MEDISAN , 2009,
A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in 100 stomatologists surveyed in Santiago de Cuba municipality during November - December, 2007 in order to specify some of their approaches to the application and effectiveness of the conventional conductive technique in the practice of their occupation. It revealed that 63,0% was in favor of the use of the procedure for its advantages in most of the cases, but the remaining ones pointed out certain difficulties in its use, as well as anesthetic complications, deducing from this that in spite of its simple use it is often not so effective; it also increases the use of anesthetics and prevents patients from achieving their complete satisfaction due to pain clinical manifestations and other adverse effects.

‘Thieving perspectives’: Eavan Boland’s “Suburban Woman” poems
Pascale AMIOT
Emmanuel Amiot
Mathematics , 2006,
Abstract: This paper, in french, gives a new approach to the concept of Maximally Even Sets based on discrete Fourier transform, with several elementary but interesting and previously unpublished results. Maximally Even Sets have been invented by musicologists but have been found to bear deep relationships to other areas of science, such as the Ising model in Physics. They describe economically and characterise many famous 'scales' or subsets of the cyclic group as modelised here.
Cluster categories for algebras of global dimension 2 and quivers with potential
Claire Amiot
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: Let $k$ be a field and $A$ a finite-dimensional $k$-algebra of global dimension $\leq 2$. We construct a triangulated category $\Cc_A$ associated to $A$ which, if $A$ is hereditary, is triangle equivalent to the cluster category of $A$. When $\Cc_A$ is $\Hom$-finite, we prove that it is 2-CY and endowed with a canonical cluster-tilting object. This new class of categories contains some of the stable categories of modules over a preprojective algebra studied by Geiss-Leclerc-Schr{\"o}er and by Buan-Iyama-Reiten-Scott. Our results also apply to quivers with potential. Namely, we introduce a cluster category $\Cc_{(Q,W)}$ associated to a quiver with potential $(Q,W)$. When it is Jacobi-finite we prove that it is endowed with a cluster-tilting object whose endomorphism algebra is isomorphic to the Jacobian algebra $\Jj(Q,W)$.
On the group of rational spectral units with finite order
Emmanuel Amiot
Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: The problem of phase retrieval is a difficult one which remains far from solved. Two homometric sets are always connected by way of a convolution product by some spectral unit, though not necessarily in a unique way. Here we elucidate one small aspect, the subgroup of spectral units with finite order. Its elements are completely characterized by relations between their eigenvalues. This sheds some light on the beltway problem.
On Generalized Cluster Categories
Claire Amiot
Mathematics , 2011,
Abstract: Cluster categories have been introduced by Buan, Marsh, Reineke, Reiten and Todorov in order to categorify Fomin-Zelevinsky cluster algebras. This survey motivates and outlines the construction of a generalization of cluster categories, and explains different applications of these new categories in representation theory.
The Torii of phases
Emmanuel Amiot
Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: The import of the magnitude of fourier coefficients of a pitch class set is fairly well known. This paper deals with the angular component of these compelx numbers, the phase. It enables to shed new light on triads, the Tonnetz, and continuous gestures between diverse pc-sets, even those with different cardinalities.
