La pista médica del desastre de la expedición de Sarmiento de Gamboa al Estrecho de Magallanes
DOMíNGUEZ MOLINOS,RAFAEL;
Magallania (Punta Arenas) , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-22442011000200001
Abstract: the aim of this paper is to examine the possible causes of the rapid physical and moral collapse of sarmiento de gamboa′s expedition to the magellan strait. for this, we will take into account a little-known epidemiological antecedent -in particular the great cold of 1580-, as an explanatory factor of extreme weakness that the settlers displayed since their landing. finally, we suggest checking the physical impact of great cold through the analysis of the traces of the disease that were found in king philip′s human bone remains.
La pista médica del desastre de la expedición de Sarmiento de Gamboa al Estrecho de Magallanes The disaster of Sarmiento de Gamboa's expedition to the Magellan Strait: A medical Clue

Magallania , 2011,
Chávez-Domínguez, Rafael;
Archivos de cardiología de México , 2010,
Abstract: the heart care is the biggest challenge of cardiovascular disease, a problem of humanity and not just of the individual. holistic approach offers the opportunity to learn about it, by far the determinants, and look forward at the possible solutions. the issue is open to the contribution of everybody. the world heart day is good opportunity to communicate and nurture the spirit for cooperation, with the interest of the heart health. health care, life care and heart care are complementary and comply as an indissoluble unity.
Tabaquismo. La naturaleza causal pide respeto
Chávez-Domínguez, Rafael César;
Archivos de cardiología de México , 2010,
Abstract: smoking is responsible for atherosclerosis-mediated cardiovascular pandemic. change and accelerate reactions in structures and functions. form factors and stimulates tumor atheroma. induces thrombosis and occludes arteries. the sinister intrusion attacks the cardiovascular system. the damage occurs in their genetic foundations and bimolecular intimacy. the remedy is abstinence, solves everything and it is just behavior. addiction feeds dissent that is based on fallacies and irrelevant controversies. much is ignorance, misjudgments, bad experiences which originates controversies. why are things this way? it is not understood as it should. public opinion is manipulated information, reductionism and negative manichaeism. the solutions are provided through interdisciplinary and holistic reasoning. they suggest sticking to education based on universal values from early ages. also abstinence promotion and self-control culture, for the sake of oneself and towards neighborhood. the new paradigm should pursue a doctrine of conversion, which nobody is exempt from benefit. interpreting the alternative posed by nature of stating phyisiodulia or physiopathology is equivalent to: respect, or illness and death.
Educational data mining: a sample of review and study case
Alejandro Pena, Rafael Domínguez, Jose de Jesus Medel
World Journal on Educational Technology , 2009,
Abstract: The aim of this work is to encourage the research in a novel merged field: Educational data mining (EDM). Thereby, twosubjects are outlined: The first one corresponds to a review of data mining (DM) methods and EDM applications. Thesecond topic represents an EDM study case. As a result of the application of DM in Web-based Education Systems (WBES),stratified groups of students were found during a trial. Such groups reveal key attributes of volunteers that deserted orremained during a WBES experiment. This kind of discovered knowledge inspires the statement of correlational hypothesisto set relations between attributes and behavioral patterns of WBES users. We concluded that: When EDM findings aretaken into account for designing and managing WBES, the learning objectives are improved
Genetic Programming and Standardization in Water Temperature Modelling
Maritza Arganis,Rafael Val,Jordi Prats,Katya Rodríguez,Ramón Domínguez,Josep Dolz
Advances in Civil Engineering , 2009, DOI: 10.1155/2009/353960
Abstract: An application of Genetic Programming (an evolutionary computational tool) without and with standardization data is presented with the aim of modeling the behavior of the water temperature in a river in terms of meteorological variables that are easily measured, to explore their explanatory power and to emphasize the utility of the standardization of variables in order to reduce the effect of those with large variance. Recorded data corresponding to the water temperature behavior at the Ebro River, Spain, are used as analysis case, showing a performance improvement on the developed model when data are standardized. This improvement is reflected in a reduction of the mean square error. Finally, the models obtained in this document were applied to estimate the water temperature in 2004, in order to provide evidence about their applicability to forecasting purposes.
