Abstract: O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar a concep o adorniana de racionaliza o da música, tratando-a como um setor privilegiado da raz o. Desta forma, pretendemos mostrar como os processos que o autor descreve em rela o aos progressos da raz o ocorrem de maneira semelhante na música, permitindo-nos ent o perceber que ela passa pelos momentos de desencantamento em rela o ao mundo – abandono da teoria dos afetos – e encantamento do conceito – consolida o do sistema tonal como segunda natureza. Para tanto ser o utilizados tratados musicais e textos menores escritos entre os séculos XVI e XVIII.

Abstract: Transgene insert location in the genome through different methods is random. Thus, alterations in the expression of desired trait may occur, as well as alterations in the expression of other characteristics of receptor plant. The purpose of this study was to compare Bt transgenic maize hybrids and the respective conventional isogenic hybrid in relation to adaptability and phenotypic stability. Field trails were set up in four locations of Minas Gerais, Brazil (Campo do Meio, Lavras, Madre de Deus and Paragua?u). A randomized complete block design was used, with three replications, and the treatment structure was a factorial 6 × 2, with six hybrids in the transgenic and conventional versions. Plant and ear height and grain yield were evaluated. To estimate stability, the Anicchiarico, Wricke and AMMI methodologies were used. Grain yield and ear height of the transgenic hybrids and their respective conventional isogenic hybrid did not differ. There are differences in the phenotypic stability between transgenic hybrids with Bt technology and their counterpart conventional isogenic hybrid.

Effect of liver ischemic preconditioning in cirrhotic rats submitted to hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury

Abstract: purpose: the main aim of this study was to determine the influence of ischemic preconditioning (ipc) on rat liver cirrhosis. methods: cirrhosis was induced in wistar rats by occlusion of the hepatic duct. the animals were divided into four groups of six animals each: non-cirrhotic group (simulated operation only), cirrhotic control group (simulated operation in cirrhotic rats), i/r group (40-minute ischemia without ipc), and ipc group (cirrhotic rats with ischemia, previously submitted to ipc). the ipc procedure consisted of partial hepatic ischemia for five minutes, followed by 10 minutes of reperfusion. in the case of the ipc group, the animals were submitted to liver ischemia for 40 minutes after the preconditioning procedure, followed by 2 hours of reperfusion. blood samples were collected for measurement of serum aminotransferases (alt and ast). the respiratory control ratio (rcr), the mitochondrial membrane potential (mmp), and malondialdehyde (mda) values in the hepatic tissue were analyzed. nonparametric statistical analysis was used and a value of p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. results: ischemia did not induce significant increase in alt and ast levels. mda values were significantly higher in cirrhotic animals. mmp did not significantly change in cirrhosis and liver ischemia. mitochondrial rcr decreased in liver cirrhosis, accentuated upon liver ischemia, and did not significantly change with ipc. conclusion: ischemic preconditioning does not protect the liver from hepatic injury induced by the ischemia/ reperfusion process.
In vitro Analysis of Morphology of Human Enamel Submitted to Excessive Use of External Bleaching Agents Análisis in vitro de la Morfología del Esmalte Humano Sometido a un Uso Excesivo de Agentes Blanqueadores Externos

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of external bleaching agents on morphology of human enamel after excessive homemade dental bleaching. 20 intact human third molars were submitted to mesio-distal crosscut and embedded in polystyrene resin. The specimens were submitted to finish and a half of enamel surface of each specimen was covered with cosmetic varnish, meaning control group (G0). The specimens were randomly divided into four groups (n=10): G1 - 1 bleaching session by 16% carbamide peroxide; G2 - 3 bleaching sessions by 16% carbamide peroxide; G3 - 1 bleaching session by 22% carbamide peroxide; G4 - 3 bleaching sessions by 22% carbamide peroxide. Each session lasted 8 hours a day, during two weeks, with 45 days of interval between sessions. In this period, the specimens were kept in artificial saliva at 37°C. The specimens were observed by scanning electron microscopy and the results showed depression areas, irregularities, erosion, and enamel prisms exposition, which was more evident in G4. It can be concluded that the excess of bleaching produced many alterations on enamel surface, mainly when was used carbamide peroxide in higher concentration. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar los efectos en la morfología externa del esmalte humano al utilizar excesivamente agentes blanqueadores dentales de uso casero. Se cortaron 20 intactos terceros molares humanos en sentido mesiodistal, luego fueron sumergidas las porciones radiculares en resina de poliestireno. Las muestras fueron pulidas, cubriendo la mitad de la superficie del esmalte con barniz cosmético, representando así al grupo control (G0). Las muestras fueron distribuidas aleatoriamente en cuatro grupos (n=10): G1-Una sesión de blanqueamiento con peróxido de carbamida al 16%, G2. Tres sesiones de blanqueamiento con peróxido de carbamida al 16%, G3-Una sesión de blanqueamiento con peróxido de carbamida al 22%, G4- Tres sesiones de blanqueamiento con peróxido de carbamida al 22%. Cada sesión tuvo una duración de 8 horas diarias durante dos semanas con 45 días de intervalo entre sesiones. Durante ese periodo las muestras fueron mantenidas en saliva artificial a 37°C. Las muestras fueron observadas al microscopio electrónico de barrido, mostrando aéreas de depresión, irregularidades, erosiones y exposición de prismas del esmalte. Esto fue más evidente en G4. Se puede concluir que el exceso de blanqueamiento producido muchas alteraciones en la superficie del esmalte, sobre todo cuando se utilizó peróxido de carbamida en alta concentración.
Effect of the Preparation Method on Co/Al2O3 Catalyst Applied to Ethanol Steam Reforming Reaction Production of Hydrogen  [PDF]

Abstract: Alumina supported cobalt catalysts were prepared, characterized and applied in ethanol steam reforming for hydrogen production. The support and the supported catalysts were prepared, respectively, by the solvothermal and precipitation, impregnation and deposition-precipitation methods. The cobalt was added by impregnation and deposition-precipitation in the Al2O3 supports using a Co(NO3)2·6H2O solution. The solids were characterized, Temperature-Programmed Re-duction with H2 (RTP-H2), X-Ray Diffraction (DRX), BET Nitrogen Adsorption and Temperature Programmed Oxida-tion (TPO). The results indicated that the preparation method and the treatment conditions of samples were appropriate for obtaining the wanted compounds. Co3O4 phase was verified for all catalysts through analyses of DRX and RTP-H2 results. Catalytic tests were performed by varying the temperature from 450?C to 600?C, with water: ethanol molar ratio of 3:1. The ethanol conversion was superior of 99%, with greater hydrogen yield at 600℃. The lower carbon deposition was observed in catalysts prepared with solvothermal/deposition-precipitation methods at 450℃.

Abstract: Work Internship Placements (WIP) is a new and transversal enterprise internships programme, which is focused on quality improvement, academic control and satisfaction of collaborating enterprises. This programme is addressed to the engineering students of the Polytechnic School at the University of Girona (UdG) in Spain. The fundamental WIP infrastructure combines a web-based intranet platform, that provides a complete set of WIP tools, with a protocol of procedures and tasks that are observed and followed at all internship stages by every participating agent, i.e. enterprises, students, coaching professors and administrative staff. Our new programme is centered on a broader, more holistic internship placement procedure than the traditional “career and academic goals” approach. The WIP programme has been found to be a valuable asset in addressing enterprise and student needs in the experiential project.

Abstract: As said by Sir A. Eddington in 1925: Our telescopes may probe farther and farther into the depths of space. At first sight it would seem that the deep interior of the sun and stars is less accessible to scientific investigation than any other region of the universe. What appliance can pierce through the outer layers of a star and test the conditions within? Eddington (1926). Nowadays, asteroseismology has proven its ability to pierce below stellar pho- tospheres and allow us to see inside the interior of thousands of stars down to the stellar cores, answering the question asked by Eddington ninety years ago. In this chapter we review the general properties of the spectral analysis which is the base of any asteroseismic investigation. After describing the stellar power spectrum, we will describe in details the characterization of the modal spec- trum. This chapter will end by a brief description of the instrumentation in both helio and asteroseismology.
