Abstract: The experiment was carried out to evaluate the intake and the digestibility of nutrients of elephantgrass silage with levels (0,0; 10,0; 20,0 and 30,0%, natural matter basis) of coffee hulls, fed to sheep. Sixteen crossbreed castrated sheep, with 48.5 kg average live weight, were used in a randomized blocks design with four replicates. The intake of dry matter was influenced by coffee hulls which showed a quadratic effect, estimating maximum intake of 991.5 g/day (2.04% of live weight) with 7.2% of coffee hulls added. The intake of organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), total carbohydrates (TC), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and total digestible nutrients (TDN), in g/day, showed a quadratic effect, estimating maximum intake of 907.0, 118.2, 773.5, 727.7 and 591.0 g/day with 7.2, 5.6, 6.2, 4.7 and 2.9% of coffee hulls added, respectively. The digestibility of DM, OM, CP, TC and NDF decreased as the levels of coffee hulls in the silages were increased. The ether extract digestibility was not affected. In conclusion, the level of 7.0% of coffee hulls promoted maximum nutrient intake. However, nutrient digestibility was reduced.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to evaluate forage yield and performance of beef cattle grazing understory of a silvopastoral system with eucalyptus, fertilized with nitrogen and two forage offers. treatments consisted of three doses of nitrogen fertilizer (0, 75 and 150 kg.ha-1n as urea) and two forage offers (10 and 15% of bw). the study was carried out in a complete randomized design with four replications and three evaluation periods. it was observed an increment in weight gain only the first period of evaluation as doses of nitrogen fertilizer were increased. variation on forage offer did not influence individual average gains. values of gain per area unit increased as increasing doses of nitrogen fertilizer were added. forage offer of 15% is more properly when lower doses of n were used in pastures. for higher doses, intensification of use results in greater gains per area unit. understory fertilization is efficient and necessary for intensification of the use of eucalyptus-pasture integrated systems.

Abstract: the experiment was carried out to evaluate the effects of processing (whole or ground) and including coffee hulls in elephant grass silage on the effluent production and composition. a randomized complete design in a 2 × 5 factorial design with two processes (whole or ground) and five coffee hull levels (0; 6; 12; 18 and 24 %) each with three replications. a split-plot design was used to assess the effluent composition, where the main plot consisted of a 2 × 3 factorial with two processes and three coffee hull levels (0, 6, 12%) and the split-plot consisted of the effluent collection days, with three replications. the total effluent production was 243.1 l/t silage for silage without hulls, 196.8; 93.2; 30.8; 3.1 and 149.1; 52.3; 30.8; 0.0 l/t for the silages with whole and ground hulls at levels of 6, 12, 18 and 24%, respectively. the hull processing and inclusion levels had a quadratic effect, according to the days, on the total solids and total nitrogen contents. a quadratic effect of the processing and days and the hull levels and days, respectively, on the composition in calcium and magnesium. the hull levels and the coffee hull processing had a linear effect on the phosphorus content in the effluent. there were effects of processing, hull levels and of the days on the contents of chemical and biochemical demands for oxygen. coffee hulls were efficient in reducing effluent production in the elephantgrass silage, especially when ground, because they had more effect than when whole. the effluent composition is influenced by the day of collection and inclusion and processing of coffee hull levels.

Abstract: the objective of this trial was to investigate the effects of replacing corn by coffee hulls on intake, apparent digestibility, and milk production and composition of lactating dairy cows. treatments contained one of the following four levels of coffee hulls: 0, 5, 10 or 15% of the total dietary dm. twelve holstein dairy cows were blocked by days in milk and randomly assigned to three replicated 4 x 4 latin squares. diets were isonitrogenous averaging 15.5% of cp and composed by 60% of corn silage and 40% of concentrate on dm basis. replacing corn with coffee hulls did not affect the intake of ee. however, intakes of dm, om, cp, tc, and nfc as well as dietary tdn all decreased linearly with the inclusion of coffee hulls in the diet. apparent total tract digestibilities of dm, om, cp, tc, ndf, and nfc also reduced linearly by increasing the proportion of dietary coffee hulls. conversely, ndf intake increased linearly when coffee hulls replaced corn in the diet. no significant differences on milk yield as well as yields and contents of fat, protein, total solids, and solids nonfat were observed by including coffee hulls in the diet. feeding balances (milk yield gross income - feeding costs) per cow and per liter of milk both increased linearly by partially replacing corn with coffee hulls. it can be concluded that coffee hulls can replace up to 15% of the corn in the diet with no detrimental effects on production.

Abstract: language, the result of social practice among human beings, is regarded by psychology as a major element in the study of subjectivity. this article aims at arguing the relevance of this theme on the basis of the work of french philosopher maurice merleau-ponty. the text is divided into two parts. the first one includes reflections on the body's expressive potency and its relevance to the dissolution of the opposition between res cogitans and res extensa as for the constitution of meaning to words. the second one investigates the relation between phenomenology of language and body expressivity, allowing for understanding why subjectivity and language are rooted in the structure of the being-in-the-world.

Abstract: Monitoring in the Ca?apava do Sul campus, Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA), intends to provide the development in academical activities and techniques inside the Geoscience field, in subjects offered in the curricula of Geophysics, Geology and Environmental and Sanitary Engineering programs. It is a student activity in which helping the teacher to intensify and assure the cooperation between the students and the monitor into the classroom and also in the basic activities on the University related to Teaching, Research and Extension is the main purpose. Therefore, it is possible to intensify the awareness of group importance in knowledge in general, as well as the familiarity with the differences, with conceptual contents, behaviour and proposed activities that are offered to develop in each student the responsibilities itself and with everybody else, always emphasizing the importance of working in a group. Teaching is inseparably related to learning. The goals are the development of conceptual abilities and classroom and laboratory techniques, as well as in extracurricular activities, in order to arouse in the students their interests about the subjects addressed. The main objective of monitoring work is to learn, not only learning about the subject, but also contents related to some procedures, preparing, experiment and, in the matter of fact, everything that is related to the knowledge about living and discussing in a group. Therefore, it is believed that the student/ monitor should live this experience provided by teaching and integrate the practical experiences in his formation, in addition and as an improvement of his program.
