Abstract: In this paper, we study the existence of solutions for the semilinear equation \"\", where A is a \"\", \"\", \"\" and \"\" is a nonlinear continuous function. Assuming that the Moore-Penrose inverse AT(AAT)-1?exists (A denotes the transposed matrix of A) which is true whenever the determinant of the \"\" matrix AAT is different than zero, and the following condition on the nonlinear term \"\" satisfied \"\". We prove that the semilinear equation has solutions for all\"\". Moreover, these solutions can be found from the following fixed point relation \"\".
Interactions between a Root Knot Nematode (Meloidogyne exigua) and Arbuscular Mycorrhizae in Coffee Plant Development (Coffea arabica)  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper focuses on parasitic root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne exigua) and how to decrease their pathogenic effect on coffee plants (Coffea arabica), by examining the behaviour of and the interactions between nematodes, coffee plant and arbuscular mycorrhizae (AM). The experiment was carried out at the seedling stage, with six (6) treatments (plants with M. exigua, plants with arbuscular mycorrhizae, plants with both organisms, and the same time, first mycorrhizae plants, then nematodes were inoculated and vice versa). After 5 months the measured variables were: dry biomass (roots and shoot), nematode knots caused by M. exigua in root, nematode juvenile (J2) found in 100.0 g of soil, and mycorrhizal percentage. Plant nutrients (P and N) contents were analysed. Significant differences were found in all the variables, but concentration N content in plants. Plants with mycorrhizae and plants with mycorrhizae and then inoculated with nematodes have the same behaviour. Control plants and plants with nematode and then inoculated with mycorrhizae behave similarly. It is thought that arbuscular mycorrhizae are formed before the nematode infestation, allowing coffee plants to regain the energy lost by the parasitic interaction. AM may help coffee plants with lignifications of the plant cell wall cuticle. As the cuticle thickens it is more difficult for nematodes to penetrate and enter into plant roots. Therefore, arbuscular mycorrhizae help coffee plants to uptake and transport nutrients, improving its nutritional status and stabilizing nematode attacks. It is suggested that symbiotic interactions help neutralize parasitic interactions.

Abstract: Meteorological inputs are of great importance when implementing an air quality prediction system. In this contribution, the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF-ARW) model was used to compare the performance of the different cumulus, microphysics and Planet Boundary Layer parameterizations over Bogotá, Colombia. Surface observations were used for comparison and the evaluated meteorological variables include temperature, wind speed and direction and relative humidity. Differences between parameterizations were observed in meteorological variables and Betts-Miller-Janjic, Morrison 2-moment and BouLac schemes proved to be the best parameterizations for cumulus, microphysics and PBL, respectively. As a complement to this study, a WRF-Large Eddy Simulation was conducted in order to evaluate model results with finer horizontal resolution for air quality purposes.

Abstract: The dust generated in arid areas of the planet is a very important source of particulate matter in the air, especially favoured by the presence of winds that can raise erodible material from the surface. These particles have an important influence when making an assessment of the air quality, due to its direct and indirect impact on public health. In this work, we reproduce episodes of aeolian dusts in the desert areas of Peru and Chile, where high dust concentration events are common and many mining industries are located. The differentiation of the contribution of particulate matter from Aeolian dusts and mining activities of the area is an important issue, as well as trying to forecast these events. For this purpose, we have calculated an erodibility factor at high resolution that, combined with WRF meteorological output and the GOCART dust scheme, gives the emission of particulate matter. We have introduced the emissions in the photochemical model CMAQ, which determines the concentrations in the different domains, and we have observed that the natural dust contributes greatly to pollution in the area, exceeding permissible limit values in the area of Paracas in Peru, and with contributions of up to 23% of the total particulate matter in the city of Calama in Chile, resulting non-negligible values for the evaluation of air quality.

Abstract: The applications of ferrimagnetic oxides, or ferrites, in the last 10 years are reviewed, including thin films and nanoparticles. The general features of the three basic crystal systems and their magnetic structures are briefly discussed, followed by the most interesting applications in electronic circuits as inductors, in high-frequency systems, in power delivering devices, in electromagnetic interference suppression, and in biotechnology. As the field is considerably large, an effort has been made to include the original references discussing each particular application on a more detailed manner.

Abstract: junto a la creación de instituciones investigadoras nacionales, la labor de mecenazgo de la junta para ampliación de estudios (jae) mediante becas (pensiones) y reconocimiento como pensionados de los científicos espa?oles del primer tercio del siglo xx fue la clave para llegar a la edad de plata de la ciencia espa?ola. en el caso de las ciencias morfológicas, la anatomía macroscópica era una ciencia casi cerrada y en crisis en favor de las ciencias microscópicas y la embriología. a pesar de este contexto, la jae optó por promocionar esta ciencia, tanto para importar la pedagogía anatómica europea, como las técnicas y filosofía de la nueva "anatomía dinámica" que se gestaba en el continente. en este estudio analizamos a los pensionados en esta materia a través del archivo de la jae y de los trabajos publicados por éstos. concluimos que el aprovechamiento de éstas fue determinante para el intercambio internacional necesario para la reforma del paradigma una ciencia en "crisis", siendo la pedagogía y la técnica anatómicas las grandes protagonistas de esta renovación.

Abstract: counting and contextualizing some data on mexican communication research published academic production over five decades, extracted from the website ccdoc. the objective is to analyze the scientific production of the communication area. some evidences interpreted by the author emerge to sustain a hypothesis concerning the "concentrated stagnation" which seems to characterize the field, and which leads to the recognition of a combination of structural factors, that suggest further research efforts, especially in comparative projects with other scientific-social fields and with other countries.
