HAYATI Journal of Biosciences , 2012,
Abstract: In Indonesia, avocado leaves have been used as traditional medicines for diureticum to cure urolithiasis. This research was to determine anti lithiasis activity of avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill) extract on white male rats nefrolithiasis model induced by ethylene glycol. Ethanol extraction method was used to get extract of avogadro leaves. Twenty adult male white rats were divided into 4 different induction treatments i.e. aquadest, ethylene glycol 0.75% and ammonium chloride 2%, and extract of avocado leaves with different levels of 100 and 300 mg/kg bw respectively. Their body weight was measured daily to determine their growth ratio. And at the end of the trial, the kidney was analyzed its calcium level and inhibitory activity to formation of calcium oxalate crystals. The results showed that the amount of calcium level in the kidney of rats treated with extract of avogadro leaves was significantly decreased than that of rats treated with ethylene glycol 0.75% and ammonium chloride 2% (P < 0.05). The extract avocado leaves as a herbal remedy can be recommended as a phytotherapeutic agent especially for preventive action for urolithiasis diseases.

Cultura e interazioni sociali: riflessioni sulla storia, sulla geografia e sulla lingua italiana per una didattica contemporanea interculturale
Giorgio Rini
Narrare i Gruppi , 2013,
Parole chiave: interculturalità, interazione, storia, didattica, contesto locale, scuolaCultures and social interactions: reflections on history, geography and Italian lan-guage for a contemporary intercultural didactics AbstractIf you look towards the current social complexity we certainly feel the need to make some reflections concerning contacts with other cultures both in terms of teaching in the school, and on a social level. From this point of view, an in-depth reflection seems urgent which hits the values expressed by many cultures, even if only to better understand the local context we live in, and the necessary changes for a new structure intercultural learning. With this intent, we want to start from far away in time and we start from the concept of myth and the narratives contained in it. In our opinion, the concepts expressed by myth apply very well to the construction of a path that this work aims at developing and that will closely touch some reflections on the Italian language, history and geography. It is to build on the implications mythological events undertake to make a pedagogical, psychological and anthropological re-reading.Key word: intercultural interaction, history, education, local context, school
On the Capacity of a General Multiple-Access Channel and of a Cognitive Network in the Very Strong Interference Regime
Stefano Rini
Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: The capacity of the multiple-access channel with any distribution of messages among the transmitting nodes was determined by Han in 1979 and the expression of the capacity region contains a number of rate bounds and that grows exponentially with the number of messages. We derive a more compact expression for the capacity region of this channel in which the number of rate bounds depends on the distribution of the messages at the encoders. Using this expression we prove capacity for a class of general cognitive network that we denote as "very strong interference" regime. In this regime there is no rate loss in having all the receivers decode all the messages and the capacity region reduces to the capacity of the compound multiple-access channel. This result generalizes the "very strong interference" capacity results for the interference channel, the cognitive interference channel, the interference channel with a cognitive relay and many others.
A New Random Coding Technique that Generalizes Superposition Coding and Binning
Stefano Rini
Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: Proving capacity for networks without feedback or cooperation usually involves two fundamental random coding techniques: superposition coding and binning. Although conceptually very different, these two techniques often achieve the same performance, suggesting an underlying similarity. In this correspondence we propose a new random coding technique that generalizes superposition coding and binning and provides new insight on relationship among the two With this new theoretical tool, we derive new achievable regions for three classical information theoretical models: multi-access channel, broadcast channel, the interference channel, and show that, unfortunately, it does not improve over the largest known achievable regions for these cases.
An Achievable Region for a General Multi-terminal Network and the corresponding Chain Graph Representation
Stefano Rini
Mathematics , 2011,
Abstract: Random coding, along with various standard techniques such as coded time-sharing, rate-splitting, superposition coding, and binning, are traditionally used in obtaining achievable rate regions for multi-terminal networks. The error analysis of such an achievable scheme relies heavily on the properties of strongly joint typical sequences and on bounds of the cardinality of typical sets. In this work, we obtain an achievable rate region for a general (i.e. an arbitrary set of messages shared amongst encoding nodes, which transmit to arbitrary decoding nodes) memoryless, single-hop, multi-terminal network without feedback or cooperation by introducing a general framework and notation, and carefully generalizing the derivation of the error analysis. We show that this general inner bound may be obtained from a chain graph representation of the encoding operations. This graph representation captures the statistical relationship among codewords and allows one to readily obtain the rate bounds that define the achievable rate region. The proposed graph representation naturally leads to the derivation of all the achievable schemes that can be generated by combining classic random coding techniques for any memoryless network used without feedback or cooperation. We also re-derive a few achievable regions for classic multi-terminal networks, such as the multi-access channel, the broadcast channel, and the interference channel, to show how this new representation allows one to quickly consider the possible choices of encoding/decoding strategies for any given network and the distribution of messages among the encoders and decoders.

Intelligent Control and Automation (ICA) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ica.2012.33030
Abstract: In this paper, a systematic robust control design and analysis for a single axis precise positioner is presented. The effects of uncertainties on closed-loop stability and performance are considered in the H∞ robust controllers design. v-gap metric is utilized to validate the intelligently estimated uncertainty. The robust controllers are formulated within the frame- work of the standard H mixed sensitivity optimization problem. Furthermore, a specially designed integral-H∞ and two-degree-of-freedom 2 DOF H controllers are developed to provide improved robust performance and resolution properties. It is shown that the proposed design schemes are very effective for robust control and precise tracking performance of the servo positioning system.
FRAMEWORK FOR IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT PORTFOLIO SELECTION DECISION IN SHIPPING COMPANY
Rini Oktavera,Rahaju Saraswati
Academic Research International , 2012,
Abstract: Project portfolio selection is an activity to select proposal of projects either for a new project or project underway in order to accomplish the organization’s objective without taking theexisting restrictions. This paper focuses on the decision making process for project proposal selection currently applied by Shipping Company. First step is to identify the criterion used by the management team for project selection. Next step is to evaluate projects by means of scoring model. Further step is to do risk and financial analysis by using financial model and Monte Carlo simulation. Then, for selecting optimum portfolio, method 0-1 integer linear programming is used. Analysis result of this paper shows that the optimum evaluation steps taken in selecting a project portfolio are the decision to select project B and project C.
