Petroianu, Andy;Cabezas-Andrade, Marco Antonio;Berindoague Neto, René;
ABCD. Arquivos Brasileiros de Cirurgia Digestiva (S?o Paulo) , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-67202007000100004
Abstract: background: since 1979 this group of authors is doing conservative splenic surgical procedures by mean of subtotal splenectomy and splenic autotransplantation. these procedures were used in over 300 patients to treat different pathological conditions. aim: to present for the first time in the world subtotal splenectomy and splenic autotransplantation by laparoscopic means, as a new treatment for severe pain due to ischemic spleen. methods: three patients presented left abdominal severe pain due to diffuse ischemia of the spleen. this symptom was resistant to all conservative treatment. laparoscopic subtotal splenectomy, with preservation of the upper splenic pole was indicated in two cases because this was the only part of the spleen without signs of ischemia. in a third patient ischemia was diffuse and total splenectomy with 20 implants of the splenic tissue on the greater was carried out. results: these procedures were safely conducted with minor bleeding and no technical difficulties or complications. the postoperative follow-up has been uneventful and hematological, immunological, tomographic and scintigraphic exams confirmed the vitality and functionality of the splenic remnants. the pain disappeared since the first post-operative day in the three patients. conclusion: it is feasible and safe to perform subtotal splenectomy and splenic autotransplants by laparoscopy and these procedures seem to be a good treatment for pain due to ischemic spleen.

Boletín de la Sociedad Chilena de Química , 2001,
Abstract: Two new benzodihydrofurans have been isolated from the resinous exudate of Diplostephium cinereum. Their structures were elucidated by high-resolution spectroscopic methods as 13-(2-methylpropanoyloxy)toxol (2) and 13-[(R)-3-hydroxy-3-phenylpropanoyloxy]toxol (3) Del exudado resinoso de Diplostephium cinereum, se han aislado dos benzodihidrofuranos. Sus estructuras fueron determinadas por espectroscopía de alta resolución como: 13-(2-metilpropanoiloxi)toxol (2) y 13[(R)-3-hidroxi-3-fenilpropanoiloxi]toxol (3)
A System on a Programmable Chip Architecture for Data-Dependent Superimposed Training Channel Estimation
Fernando Martín del Campo,René Cumplido,Roberto Perez-Andrade,A. G. Orozco-Lugo
International Journal of Reconfigurable Computing , 2009, DOI: 10.1155/2009/912301
Abstract: Channel estimation in wireless communication systems is usually accomplished by inserting, along with the information, a series of known symbols, whose analysis is used to define the parameters of the filters that remove the distortion of the data. Nevertheless, a part of the available bandwidth has to be destined to these symbols. Until now, no alternative solution has demonstrated to be fully satisfying for commercial use, but one technique that looks promising is superimposed training (ST). This work describes a hybrid software-hardware FPGA implementation of a recent algorithm that belongs to the ST family, known as Data-dependent Superimposed Training (DDST), which does not need extra bandwidth for its training sequences (TS) as it adds them arithmetically to the data. DDST also adds a third sequence known as data-dependent sequence, that destroys the interference caused by the data over the TS. As DDST's computational burden is too high for the commercial processors used in mobile systems, a System on a Programmable Chip (SOPC) approach is used in order to solve the problem.
Toxicidade de inseticidas utilizados na cultura do tomateiro a Trichogramma pretiosum
Moura, Alexandre Pinho;Carvalho, Geraldo Andrade;Rigitano, Renê Luís de Oliveira;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2005000300002
Abstract: the aim of this work was to evaluate the toxicity of the insecticides acetamiprid (0.05 g l-1 a.i.), chlorfenapyr (0.12 g l-1 a.i.), imidacloprid (1.16 g l-1 a.i.), thiacloprid (0.48 g l-1 a.i.) and thiamethoxam (0.05 g l-1 a.i.) to trichogramma pretiosum, in different immature stages. eggs of anagasta kuehniella glued in blue paper cards were offered to females of t. pretiosum for 48 hours. after the parasitization, the eggs were treated by dipping the cards into the chemical solutions or in water for five seconds after they reached the egg-larval, prepupal and pupal stages. the bioassays were carried out under controlled conditions, at 24±1oc, rh of 70±10% and 12 hours of photophase. both chlorfenapyr and imidacloprid reduced in 76.0% and 64.4%, respectively, the emergence of individuals of the f1 generation of t. pretiosum. no insecticide affected the sex ratio of the f1 generation of this parasitoid. chlorfenapyr reduced in approximately 50% the parasitization rate of individuals of the f1 generation. both acetamiprid and thiamethoxam were harmless to t. pretiosum, so that they can be used for the control of pests in tomato crop with this parasitoid.
O modelamento estatístico de misturas: experimento tutorial usando voltametria de redissolu??o anódica
Coscione, Aline Renée;Andrade, Jo?o Carlos de;May, Gyda Marie;
Química Nova , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-40422005000600029
Abstract: this work illustrates the modeling procedure for a solvent mixture using the simplex- centroid approach. the selected experiment was the optimization of the peak current observed in the direct determination of nickel by anodic stripping voltammetry (asv) in a solvent mixture composed of n,n-dimethylformamide, ethanol and water. the text is presented in a tutorial way, showing in detail the several steps which must be followed in such a process. since not all possible mixtures lead to a measurable instrumental response, pseudocomponents had to be used to rescale the experimental design. this also allows to show how to apply this tool, usually troublesome for non-specialists in mixture modeling procedures.

Abstract: adsorptive stripping voltammetry carried out in a homogeneous ternary solvent composed of n,n-dimethylformamide, water and ethanol, with a-benzoinoxime (abo) as the complexing agent for mo(vi) and a 0.5 mol l-1 acetic acid - sodium acetate buffer as supporting electrolyte was successfully used for the determination of molybdenum in polyvitamin-polymineral tablets. tablet samples were analyzed and the results were compared with those obtained both by graphite furnace atomic absorption and by recovery tests, with good correlations, indicating that this may be considered as an alternative procedure for routine determination of mo(vi) in pharmaceutical samples.

Abstract: Adsorptive stripping voltammetry carried out in a homogeneous ternary solvent composed of N,N-dimethylformamide, water and ethanol, with alpha-benzoinoxime (alphaBO) as the complexing agent for Mo(VI) and a 0.5 mol L-1 acetic acid - sodium acetate buffer as supporting electrolyte was successfully used for the determination of molybdenum in polyvitamin-polymineral tablets. Tablet samples were analyzed and the results were compared with those obtained both by graphite furnace atomic absorption and by recovery tests, with good correlations, indicating that this may be considered as an alternative procedure for routine determination of Mo(VI) in pharmaceutical samples.
Fibonacci Congruences and Applications  [PDF]
René Blacher
Open Journal of Statistics (OJS) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ojs.2011.12015
Abstract: When we study a congruence T(x) ≡ ax modulo m as pseudo random number generator, there are several means of ensuring the independence of two successive numbers. In this report, we show that the dependence depends on the continued fraction expansion of m/a. We deduce that the congruences such that m and a are two successive elements of Fibonacci sequences are those having the weakest dependence. We will use this result to obtain truly random number sequences xn. For that purpose, we will use non-deterministic sequences yn. They are transformed using Fibonacci congruences and we will get by this way sequences xn. These sequences xn admit the IID model for correct model.
