The Design of Efficient Viterbi Decoder and Realization by FPGA

Abstract: Convolution code is a kind of widely used error-correcting codes in the error control field, in order to solve the Viterbi decoding of higher complex degree and lower speed etc. problem, a kind of efficient and reliable Viterbi decode method has been put forward specially. Firstly, the principle of Viterbi decode has been introduced by detail; Secondly, in order to improve the parallel decoding speed, Viterbi decoding algorithm is improved; And then, according to the improved algorithm to achieve high speed and parallel Viterbi decoding method, which is realized easily by FPGA; Finally, the function simulation and test for (2, 1, 7) convolution code has been carried out. The experimental results show that: when the system clock is 64 MHz, eventually the decoding rate of not less than 16 Mbps, improved Viterbi decoding algorithm has lower complexity, improved Viterbi decoding efficiency.
The densification mechanism of squeeze casting

Abstract: The solidification process during squeeze casting is analyzed based on the classical solidification and plastic deformation theory. The linear relationship between punch velocity and the solidification rate is established if the density change of molten meals is neglected. To obtain defect-free castings, the punch velocity should be larger than the solidification rate. The densification mechanism is also discussed. The plastic deformation will result in the radical movement of the central molten metals, which reduces the temperature gradient from the center to the mold wall, which provides the condition to obtain defect-free castings: simultaneous nucleation.
Alveolar Type II Cells Escape Stress Failure Caused by Tonic Stretch through Transient Focal Adhesion Disassembly

Abstract: Mechanical ventilation-induced excessive stretch of alveoli is reported to induce cellular stress failure and subsequent lung injury, and is therefore an injurious factor to the lung. Avoiding cellular stress failure is crucial to ventilator-induced lung injury (VILI) treatment. In the present study, primary rat alveolar type II (ATII) cells were isolated to evaluate their viability and the mechanism of their survival under tonic stretch. By the annexin V/ PI staining and flow cytometry assay, we demonstrated that tonic stretch-induced cell death is an immediate injury of mechanical stress. In addition, immunofluorescence and immunoblots assay showed that the cells experienced an expansion-contraction-reexpansion process, accompanied by partial focal adhesion (FA) disassembly during contraction. Manipulation of integrin adherent affinity by altering bivalent cation levels in the culture medium and applying an integrin neutralizing antibody showed that facilitated adhesion affinity promoted cell death under tonic stretch, while lower level of adhesion protected the cells from stretch-induced stress failure. Finally, a simplified numerical model was established to reveal that adequate disassembly of FAs reduced the forces transmitting throughout the cell. Taken together, these results indicate that ATII cells escape stress failure caused by tonic stretch via active cell morphological remodeling, during which cells transiently disassemble FAs to unload mechanical forces.

Abstract: An equivalent circuit for a novel RF integrated inductor with ferrite thin-film is derived.The enhancement of the magnetic ferrite thin-film on the inductance (L) and quality factor (Q) of the inductor is analyzed.Circuit element parameters are extracted from RF measurements.Compared with the reference air-core inductor without magnetic film,L and Q of the ferrite thin-film inductor are 17% and 40% higher at 2GHz,respectively.Both the equivalent circuit analysis and test results demonstrate significant enhancement of the performance of RF integration inductors by ferrite thin-film integration.

Abstract: Relevant reports of population-based surveys conducted from 1980 to 2006 were retrieved. Studies using the World Health Organization-International League of Associations for Rheumatology COPCORD (Community Oriented Program for Control of Rheumatic Diseases) protocol and those that did not employ this protocol but were published in recognized journals were identified and analyzed.Thirty-eight surveys including 241,169 adults from 25 provinces/cities were pooled for analysis. The prevalence of rheumatic complaints ranged from 11.6% to 46.4%, varying by locality, study protocol and age of the people surveyed. Prevalence of symptomatic osteoarthritis (OA) varied from 5.1% to 20.8%, with common sites of involvement being the lumbar spine, knee joint and cervical spine. Compared with rates of radiographic and symptomatic knee OA in the USA, elderly men in Beijing exhibited similar prevalence rates and elderly women exhibited a higher prevalence. The prevalence of hip OA and hand OA was much lower in Chinese than in Caucasian populations, but both kinds of OA were more common in coal miners. The prevalence of ankylosing spondylitis ranged from 0.2% to 0.54% among Han ethnic Chinese and were lower among mixed ethnic populations. The prevalence of psoriatic arthritis ranged from 0.01% to 0.1%, and that of reactive arthritis was 0.02%; undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy was identified in 0.64% to 1.2% of the individuals included in the surveys. The prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) ranged from 0.2% to 0.93%, with the highest rate being reported from a Taiwan urban area. In mainland China there were no significant differences in prevalence of RA between the northern and southern parts of China, or between different ethnic groups. Predicting Residue-Residue Contacts and Helix-Helix Interactions in Transmembrane Proteins Using an Integrative Feature-Based Random Forest Approach

Abstract: Integral membrane proteins constitute 25–30% of genomes and play crucial roles in many biological processes. However, less than 1% of membrane protein structures are in the Protein Data Bank. In this context, it is important to develop reliable computational methods for predicting the structures of membrane proteins. Here, we present the first application of random forest (RF) for residue-residue contact prediction in transmembrane proteins, which we term as TMhhcp. Rigorous cross-validation tests indicate that the built RF models provide a more favorable prediction performance compared with two state-of-the-art methods, i.e., TMHcon and MEMPACK. Using a strict leave-one-protein-out jackknifing procedure, they were capable of reaching the top L/5 prediction accuracies of 49.5% and 48.8% for two different residue contact definitions, respectively. The predicted residue contacts were further employed to predict interacting helical pairs and achieved the Matthew's correlation coefficients of 0.430 and 0.424, according to two different residue contact definitions, respectively. Comparative research on three types of coaxial slow wave structures

Abstract: This paper studies three types of coaxial slow wave structures (SWSs): (1) with ripples on both the inner and outer conductors; (2) with ripples on the outer conductor and smooth on the inner one; and (3) with ripples on the inner conductor and smooth on the outer one. The frequencies, coupling impedances, time growth rates and beam-wave interaction efficiencies of the three types of coaxial SWSs are obtained by theoretical analysis. Moreover, the relativistic Cerenkov generators (RCGs) with the three types of coaxial SWSs are simulated with a fully electromagnetic particle-in-cell code, and the results verify the theoretical analysis. It is proved that the RCG with double-rippled coaxial SWS has the highest conversion efficiency and the shortest starting time.

Simplification and Aggregation of Polygon Object Supported by Delaunay Triangulation Structure

Abstract: Polygon simplification and aggregation play an important role in automatic cartographic generalization. Design of this kind of operator algorithm requires to consider geometric and topological characteristics, and needs to find a spatial data model to support extraction of interesting adjacent area, such as bend feature, gap region between polygons, neighbor area between islands within polygon. In this process, detection of neighbor relation is a key step. Delaunay triangulation structure is a powerful tool of spatial neighbor analysis due to its circumcircle principle and closest to equilateral properties. Applying Delaunay triangulation principles, this paper presents a spatial data model and constructs formal selection strategies. On the basis of constructed model, the study systematically investigates the problem of polygon bend simplification, exaggeration as well as neighbor polygon aggregation. The paper divides polygon simplification into steps: islands selection, concave part fill, shallow area skeletonizing, concave part exaggeration and convex part clip. As for polygon aggregation, it is classified as three cases: absorbing, enclosing and separating and three methods are discussed respectively. Some of operator algorithms are presented in the paper and corresponding experiment results are illustrated.

Firstly, query trees existing in distributed DSMS matched with the new query tree created by the distributed DSMS and calculated reusing proceeds. Secondly, reused the overlapped query operators between the existing query trees and the new query tree based on the reusing proceeds.
