Diagnosis Of Inherited Neurometabolic Disorders : A Biochemical Approach
Christopher R,Shetty K T
Annals of Indian Academy of Neurology , 1999,
Abstract: The past two decades have witnessed a rapid increase in the knowledge of the inherited neurometabolic disorders. The precise diagnosis of these disorders which is a challenge to the physician can be best accomplished by biochemical methods. Screening of clinically selected patients with simple chemical urine tests and routine blood chemistry investigations followed by measurement of specific metabolites and assay of the relevant enzymes confirms the diagnosis in most cases. Biochemical diagnosis of inherited neurometabolic disorders although expensive is rapid and confirmatory and therefore aids in treatment and further prevention of these rare disorders.
Frontal convexity primary lymphoma masquerading meningioma: A case report and review of literature
Agrawal A,Makannavar J,Shetty J,Shetty R
Indian Journal of Cancer , 2007,
Abstract: Primary non-Hodgkin′s lymphoma of the skull with extra- and intracranial extension without systemic or skeletal manifestation in a nonimmunocompromised patient is extremely rare. These lesions often cause difficulty in diagnosis because they mimic other conditions. We report a case of primary lymphoma involving scalp, skull vault, meninges and invading the brain parenchyma and masquerading clinically and radiologically as a meningioma.
OVERVIEW OF IN-OFFICE BLEACHING OF VITAL TEETH
Hegde Mithra N.,Shetty Krishna R.,Shetty Shishir
International Research Journal of Pharmacy , 2012,
Abstract: The importance of tooth whitening for patients has shown a dramatic increase in the number of products and procedures over recent years. Vital tooth bleaching refers to chair-side clinical application of a chemical solution to a tooth surface in order to achieve whitening effect of the teeth. Vital bleaching have found to be very effective but they also have their the drawbacks. The current article gives knowledge of vital tooth whitening with respect to external bleaching methods. the external bleaching of vital teeth focuses on patient selection, mechanisms, bleaching procedure and various in-office bleaching systems and techniques and their disadvantages.
Abnormal Branching Pattern of the Axillary Artery and its Clinical Significance

International Journal of Morphology , 2008, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-95022008000200022
Abstract: the increasing use of invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures in cardiovascular diseases makes it important that the type and frequency of vascular variations are well documented and understood. sound knowledge of neurovascular variations is important for surgeons who remove axillary lymph nodes, to anesthesiologists, and orthopedic surgeons, considering the frequency of procedures done in this region. an unusual variation in the branching pattern of axillary artery was observed on the left side of a 60 year old female cadaver. in the present case the course and distribution of the first and second part of the axillary artery were normal. but a rare case of unusual origin of subscapular, anterior and posterior circumflex humeral, profunda brachii artery and ulnar collateral arteries from a common trunk were found on the left side during routine dissection. this common trunk was found arising from the third part of the axillary artery and at its commencement it was found passing between the two roots of the median nerve. cases with this kind of variations should be examined or operated carefully during surgical or electrophysiological procedures.
Tribological studies on discontinuously reinforced aluminum composites based on the orthogonal arrays
Raviraj Shetty,R. Pai,S. S. Rao
Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences , 2008,
Abstract: The development of metal matrix composites with reinforced Aluminum composites (DRACs) represents a well-established method for improving the strength and stiffness of a material. When DRACs are being chosen for high volume and machine-intensive components, it is crucial that the tribological conditions during machining of the DRACs be understood since it is greatly different from aluminum alloys. The machinability of DRACs has been investigated actively worldwide since the 1980s, and most researchers have found that polycrystalline diamond (PCD) or cubic boron nitride tools can be used to machine DRACs effectively. Driven by the high cost of these tools, it is still desirable to optimize the cutting conditions, such as the effect of cutting fluid, since there has been no comprehensive study undertaken in this area. This paper reports on the experimental investigations carried out under dry, oil water emulsion and steam lubricated conditions in turning of DRACs. The experiments were planned on orthogonal arrays, made with prefixed cutting parameters and different lubricated conditions. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) was carried out to check the validity of the proposed parameters and also their percentage contributions. The results of the tests show that with proper selection of the range of cutting parameters, it is possible to obtain better performance under steam lubricated condition.
Abnormal Branching Pattern of the Axillary Artery and its Clinical Significance Patrón de Ramificación Anormal de la Arteria Axilar y su Significado Clínico

Abstract: The increasing use of invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures in cardiovascular diseases makes it important that the type and frequency of vascular variations are well documented and understood. This common trunk was found arising from the third part of the axillary artery and at its commencement it was found passing between the two roots of the median nerve. Cases with this kind of variations should be examined or operated carefully during surgical or electrophysiological procedures.

Unicystic plexiform ameloblastoma: An insight for pediatric dentists
Yavagal C,Anegundi R,Shetty S
Journal of the Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry , 2009,
Abstract: Ameloblastomas have been categorized broadly into three biologic variants: cystic (unicystic), solid, and peripheral. The term plexiform unicystic ameloblastoma refers to a pattern of epithelial proliferation that has been described in cystic lesions of the jaws. Although the histology suggests that cystic ameloblastomas follow a biologically low-grade course, recent evidence suggests that they may often behave clinically as biologically aggressive tumors. This is supported by the high incidence of cortical perforation, tooth resorption, lesion size, bony destruction, and a high rate of recurrence after simple enucleation. This article tries to provide an insight for pediatric dentists regarding this biologically distinct entity. A literature review on the topic has been added along with a case report highlighting the state-of-the-art approach and management of such ameloblastomas, in pediatric patients.
Breast reconstruction with free anterolateral thigh flap
Raje R,Chepauk R,Shetty K,Prasad R
Indian Journal of Plastic Surgery , 2003,
Abstract: The most common methods of breast reconstruction involve harvest of flaps from the lower abdomen. However it has certain limitations, including its use in patients who desire pregnancy in the future. Here, the anterolateral thigh flap, though an unconventional donor site, has been used with good results in four of our patients.
