Neural Network Parameterizations of Electromagnetic Nucleon Form Factors

Abstract: The electromagnetic nucleon form-factors data are studied with artificial feed forward neural networks. As a result the unbiased model-independent form-factor parametrizations are evaluated together with uncertainties. The Bayesian approach for the neural networks is adapted for chi2 error-like function and applied to the data analysis. The sequence of the feed forward neural networks with one hidden layer of units is considered. The given neural network represents a particular form-factor parametrization. The so-called evidence (the measure of how much the data favor given statistical model) is computed with the Bayesian framework and it is used to determine the best form factor parametrization.
Study of Pion Production in ν_μCC Interactions on O16 Using Different MC Generators

Abstract: In this report we present simulated event numbers, for various MC generators, for pion production in $\nu_{\mu}$ CC reactions on $\nucl{16}{O}$. For the simulation we used four different neutrino interaction generators: GENIE, FLUKA, NEUT, and NuWro, as proposed during the 45th Karpacz Winter School on neutrino interactions. First we give a brief outline of the theoretical models relevant to pion production. We then present results, in the form of tables showing the occupancy of primary and final state pion topologies, for all the generated samples. Finally we compare the results from the different generators and draw conclusions about the similarities and differences. For some of the generators we explore the effect of varying the axial mass parameter or the use of a different nuclear model.
Contamination of Runoff Water at Gdańsk Airport (Poland) by Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs)

Abstract: Airport runoff can contain high concentrations of various pollutants, in particular polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), the environmental levels of which have to be monitored. Airport runoff water samples, collected at the Gdańsk-R?biechowo Airport from 2008 to 2009, were analysed for PAHs and PCBs by gas chromatography. The aromatic fractions were separated by liquid-liquid extraction and analysed by GC/MS. Total PAH concentrations were 295–6,758 ng/L in 2008 and 180–1,924 ng/L in 2009, while total PCB levels in 2008 ranged from 0.14 to 0.44 μg/L and in 2009 from 0.06 to 0.23 μg/L. The PAH and PCB compositions in airport runoff waters were examined over a range of spatial and temporal scales to determine distributions, trends and possible sources. This pollution is mainly pyrolytic and related to anthropogenic activity. There were significant differences between the samples collected in the two seasons. An understanding of the magnitude of contamination due to airport runoff water is important for the effective management of airport infrastructure.

Abstract: Celem pracy by o porównanie wyników oznaczeń przeciwcia przeciwko transglutaminazie tkankowej -IgAtTGAb, przeciwcia przeciwko endomysium mi ni g adkich - EMA oraz oceny morfologicznej kosm-ków u pacjentów na ró nych etapach diagnostyki i leczenia celiakii. W latach 2000-2002 badaniom poddano 150 osób. W ród badanych wyró niono grup z podejrzeniem celiakii, w trakcie jej leczenia, po reprowokacji glutenem oraz grup krewnych I stopnia chorych na celiaki . Stwierdzono, e zgodno wyników oceny morfologicznej wycinków jelita cienkiego i przeciwcia EMA z wynikami IgAtTGAb uzyskano w 87,5% badanych w grupie z podejrzeniem celiakii. U pacjentów poddanych reprowokacji zgodno ta wynios a 80%. Wysokim mianom IgAEmA i znacznym zanikom kosmków towarzysz wysokie warto ci IgAtTGAb.

Materia i metody: Przedmiotem retrospektywnej analizy by o 6 kobiet w wieku od 30 do 50 lat, u których w latach 1990-2001 w Klinice Pediatrii ambulatoryjnie rozpoznano celiaki . Pacjentki te przed rozpoznaniem by y wielokrotnie hospitalizowane i diagnozowane bez efektu w o rodkach internistycznych, ginekologicznych i psychiatrycznych. W wywiadzie pacjentki zg asza y objawy depresji, spadku masy cia a, przewlek e biegunki, poronienia, bóle kostno-mi niowe. Rozpoznanie celiakii oparto na stwierdzeniu obecno ci przeciwcia IgAEmA w klasie IgA i IgG oraz zaniku kosmków b ony luzowej jelita w pobranych endoskopowo bioptatach jelita. Wyniki: Zastosowana dieta przynios a szybkie ust pienie objawów chorobowych. Wnioski: Celiakia u doros ych mo e przebiega nietypowo pod mask wielu chorób.
Image Segmentation in Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber Detector

Abstract: The Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (LAr-TPC) detectors provide excellent imaging and particle identification ability for studying neutrinos. An efficient and automatic reconstruction procedures are required to exploit potential of this imaging technology. Herein, a novel method for segmentation of images from LAr-TPC detectors is presented. The proposed approach computes a feature descriptor for each pixel in the image, which characterizes amplitude distribution in pixel and its neighbourhood. The supervised classifier is employed to distinguish between pixels representing particle's track and noise. The classifier is trained and evaluated on the hand-labeled dataset. The proposed approach can be a preprocessing step for reconstructing algorithms working directly on detector images.
Electron Neutrino Classification in Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber Detector

Abstract: Neutrinos are one of the least known elementary particles. The detection of neutrinos is an extremely difficult task since they are affected only by weak sub-atomic force or gravity. Therefore large detectors are constructed to reveal neutrino's properties. Among them the Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (LAr-TPC) detectors provide excellent imaging and particle identification ability for studying neutrinos. The computerized methods for automatic reconstruction and identification of particles are needed to fully exploit the potential of the LAr-TPC technique. Herein, the novel method for electron neutrino classification is presented. The method constructs a feature descriptor from images of observed event. It characterizes the signal distribution propagated from vertex of interest, where the particle interacts with the detector medium. The classifier is learned with a constructed feature descriptor to decide whether the images represent the electron neutrino or cascade produced by photons. The proposed approach assumes that the position of primary interaction vertex is known. The method's performance in dependency to the noise in a primary vertex position and deposited energy of particles is studied.
