Simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of amlodipine besylate and atorvastatin calcium in binary mixture

Abstract: A rapid, simple, accurate and precise UV Spectrophotometric method using simultaneous equation was developed for the simultaneous determination of amlodipine besylate and atorvastatin calcium in a binary mixture. In the proposed method, the signals were measured at 238.2 and 246.6 nm corresponding to the absorbance maxima of amlodipine besylate and atorvastatin calcium in methanol, respectively. Linearity was observed in the concentration range of 5-30 μg/ml for both the drugs. Concentration of each drug was obtained by using the absorptivity values calculated for both the drugs at two wavelengths, 238.2 and 246.6 nm and solving the simultaneous equations. The method was validated statistically and recovery study was performed to confirm the accuracy of the method. Laboratory prepared synthetic mixture was successfully analyzed using the developed method.

Abstract: Rapid, precise, accurate, and specific ratiospectra derivative spectrophotometry and a simple UV spectrophotometry using simultaneous equation methods are developed for the simultaneous determination of bisoprolol fumarate and hydrochlorothiazide from combined pharmaceutical dosage forms. For ratiospectra derivative spectrophotometry, the amplitudes were measured at 202.6 nm for bisoprolol fumarate and the difference in amplitudes at 212.6 and 230 nm were measured for the determination of hydrochlorothiazide. In the simultaneous equation method, the signals were measured at 223 nm and 271.6 nm. Concentration of each drug was obtained by using the absorptivity values calculated for the drugs at two wavelengths, 223 and 271.6 nm. Commercial tablet formulations were successfully analyzed using the developed methods.

Abstract: Kantowski-Sachs plane symmetric models are investigated in bimetric theory of gravitation proposed by Rosen [1] in the context of bulk viscous fluid. Taking conservation law and the equation of state, two different models of the universe are obtained. It is observed that Kantowski-Sachs vacuum model obtained in first case and bulk viscous fluid model obtained in second case. It is also observed that the bulk viscous cosmological model always represents an accelerated universe and consistent with the recent observations of type-1a supernovae. Some physical and geometrical features of the viscous fluid model are studied.
Field theoretic study of light hypernuclei

Abstract: A nonperturbative field theoretic calculation has been made for the $s$-shell hypernuclei. Here we dress the $\Lambda$- and $\Sigma$- hypernuclei with off-mass shell pion pairs. The analysis replaces the scalar isoscalar potential by quantum coherent states. The binding energies of $^{4+n\Lambda}$He $(n=0,1,2)$ agree quite well with the RMF result of Greiner. The experimental binding energies of $^4$He and $^3$He are reasonably well reproduced in our calculation. A satisfactory description of the relevant experimental $\Lambda$- and $\Sigma$- separation energies has been obtained.
Performance of QAM Schemes with Dual-Hop DF Relaying Systems over Mixed $η$-$μ$ and $κ$-$μ$ Fading Channels

Abstract: Performance of quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) schemes is analyzed with dual-hop decode-and-forward (DF) relaying systems over mixed $\eta$-$\mu$ and $\kappa$-$\mu$ fading channels. Closed-form expressions are obtained for the average symbol error rate (ASER) for general order rectangular QAM and cross QAM schemes using moment generating function based approach. Derived expressions are in the form of Lauricella's $(F_D^{(n)}(\cdot), \Phi_1^{(n)}(\cdot))$ hypergeometric functions which can be numerically evaluated using either integral or series representation. The obtained ASER expressions include other mixed fading channel cases addressed in the literature as special cases such as mixed Hoyt, and Rice fading, mixed Nakagami-$m$, and Rice fading. We further obtain a simple expression for the asymptotic ASER, which is useful to determine a factor governing the system performance at high SNRs, i.e., the diversity order. Additionally, we analyze the optimal power allocation, which provides a practical design rule to optimally distribute the total transmission power between the source and the relay to minimize the ASER. Extensive numerical and computer simulation results are presented that confirm the accuracy of presented mathematical analysis.

Abstract: Dice rolling (Emeric,1997) is a useful pedagogical tool (Arthur & Ian,2012; Todd, Clifton, Ingrid, Zdravko,2006)) to introduce students to the concepts and essential features of radioactivity. It can be extended to explain radioactive branching. In the process, the students learn about half life, decay constant and activity of a radioactive substance. Terms like stochastic processes, probability of decay, statistical fluctuations, and mutually exclusive processes; becomes clear in this process.

Prevalence of antibodies to aspergilli in bronchial asthmatics.

Abstract: Sputum and bleed samples were analysed from 330 cases of bronchial asthmatics and 50 normal persons without features of bronchial asthma. The prevalence of aspergilli and antibodies to different Aspergillus species were detected using cultural methods and serological technique like agar gel double diffusion (DD), counter-immuno-electrophoresis (CIEP) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Out of total 6.06% yielded Aspergillus species in sputum specimens repeatedly. Precipitins against Aspergillus species were detected in 7.88% of cases by DD and CIEP. ELISA test showed 20% of cases to be having antibodies to A. fumigatus. Allergic broncho-pulmonary aspergillosis can be detected in the early course of the disease in bronchial asthmatics using highly sensitive technique like ELISA.
