NATION AS IDENTITY IN AMITAV GHOSH’S THE SHADOW LINES

Abstract: Amitav Ghosh is a Bengali Indian author, a pioneer of English literature in India, best known for his works in the English language. Amitav Ghosh occupies a rather curious place in the landscape of contemporary English language authors from the Indian subcontinent. Freedom from political colonialism came as a refreshing wind to write and historical nationalist issues such as diaspora, migration, refugees, colonial hegemony; socio-economic and cultural issues like east-west encounter, caste and class etc. become the main concerns of Amitav Ghosh. The present paper is proposed to examine Nation as identity in “The Shadow Lines” which as a memory novel, sketches few historical events like the freedom movement in Bengal, the Second World War and the Partition of India in 1947 and the communal riots in Bangladesh and India. In this novel, Ghosh problematizes nation in his search for identity. Further, the text subverts notions of truth-notions that are rooted in cultural, sociological and historical realities while it exposes the arbitrariness of many kinds of lines, borders both personal and political. Although the personal and political are intertwined “Nation” presents itself as a crucial strand on the reader’s sensibilities.
Simultaneous RP-HPLC estimation of cefpodoxime proxetil and clavulanic acid in tablets

Abstract: A new, simple, precise, rapid and accurate RP-HPLC method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of cefpodoxime proxetil and clavulanic acid from pharmaceutical dosage forms. The method was carried out on a Zorbax Eclipse XDB 5 μ C 18 (150x4.6 mm) column with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile:50 mM potassium dihydrogen phosphate buffer (pH 3.0, 70:30 v/v) at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. Detection was carried out at 228 nm. Aspirin was used as an internal standard. The retention time of clavulanic acid, cefpodoxime proxetil and aspirin was 4.43, 6.44 and 5.6 min, respectively. The developed method was validated in terms of accuracy, precision, linearity, limit of detection, limit of quantification and solution stability. The proposed method can be used for the estimation of these drugs in combined dosage forms.
Reduction of Bus Transition for Compressed Code Systems

Abstract: Low power VLSI circuit design is one of the most important issues in present day technology. One of theways of reducing power is to reduce the number of transitions on the bus. The main focus here is to presenta method for reducing the power consumption of compressed-code systems by inverting the bits that aretransmitted on the bus. Compression will generallyincrease bit-toggling, as it removes redundancies fromthe code transmitted on the bus. Arithmetic codingtechnique is used for compression /decompression andbit-toggling reduction is done by using shift invert coding technique. Therefore, there is also an additionalchallenge, to find the right balance between compression ratio and the bit-toggling reduction. Thistechnique requires only 2 extra bits for the low Power coding, irrespective of the bit-width of the bus forcompressed data
Expression of Leptin (Ob Gene Product) in Reproductive System with Special Reference to Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Abstract: Purpose: To determine serum leptin and its ob mRNA expression both in the PCOS and non-PCOS ovary, endometrium and adipose tissue in normal or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in South Indian population. PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and non-PCOS subject’s endometrium, ovary and adipose tissue were investigated using a reverse transcription-competitive polymerase chain reaction method to quantify the mRNA levels of leptin and compared with normal weight control adipose tissue. Results: Endometrium, ovary and adipose tissue ob mRNA levels were highly correlated with serum leptin, BMI and body fat distribution of 80 subjects (10 normal weight, 8 thin PCOS, 8 thin non-PCOS, 7 overweight PCOS, 7 overweight non-PCOS, 10 obese PCOS, 10 obese non-PCOS, 10 morbidly obese PCOS and 10 morbidly obese non-PCOS). Ob mRNA levels were positively correlated with serum levels of dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate, free testosterone, luteinizing hormone, and prolactin. Ob mRNA level was inversely correlated with SHBG and androstenedione. Conclusion: Here, we report for the first time in Indian population, that endometrium, ovary, adipose tissue ob mRNA levels and serum leptin are highly correlated and are different in expression levels in thin, obese, morbidly obese PCOS and non-PCOS, when compared to individuals with normal weight. The leptin could be a novel, independent risk factor for PCOS.
Arithmetic Operations on Symmetric Trapezoidal Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers

Abstract: In this paper, Symmetric Trapezoidal Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers (STIFNs) have been introduced and their desirable properties are also studied. A new type of intuitionistic fuzzy arithmetic operations for STIFN have been proposed based on -cuts. A numerical example is considered to elaborate the proposed arithmetic operations. These operations find applications in solving linear programming problems in intuitionistic fuzzy environment and also to find regression coefficient in intuitionistic fuzzy environment.
Salivary Diagnostics: A Brief Review

Abstract: Early detection of disease plays a crucial role for treatment planning and prognosis. Saliva has great potential as a diagnostic fluid and offers advantage over serum and other biological fluids by an economic and noninvasive collection method for monitoring of systemic health and disease progression. The plethora of components in this fluid can act as biomarkers for diagnosis of various systemic and local diseases. In this review paper, we have emphasized the role of salivary biomarkers as diagnostic tools. 1. Introduction Human diseases having global impact include cancer, cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurological diseases. Diagnosing these disease conditions is becoming challenging and thus requires supplementing clinical evaluation with laboratory testing [1]. Salivary diagnostics holds great promise as an effective modality for the early diagnosis, prognostication, and monitoring posttherapy status. Whole saliva is a mixture of the secretions of the major and minor salivary glands, mucosal transudations, gingival crevicular fluid, serum and blood derivatives from oral wounds, desquamated epithelial cells, expectorated bronchial and nasal secretions, bacteria and bacterial products, viruses and fungi,other cellular components, and food debris. It is a complex fluid containing an entire library of hormones, proteins, enzymes, antibodies, antimicrobial constituents, and cytokines [2]. The mechanism of entry of these constituents from the blood into the saliva is by transcellular, passive intracellular diffusion and active transport, or paracellular routes by extracellular ultrafiltration within the salivary glands or through the gingival crevice [3, 4]. The many advantages of saliva as a clinical tool over serum and tissues are noninvasive collection of sample, smaller sample aliquots, good cooperation with patients, cost effectiveness, easy storage and transportation, greater sensitivity, and correlation with levels in blood. Promising new technologies have unveiled large numbers of medically valuable salivary biomarkers for different disease conditions including cancer, autoimmune, viral, bacterial, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases [2]. 2. Potential Biomarkers in Saliva The wide spectrum of molecules present in saliva provides valuable information for clinical diagnostic applications (Figure 1). Whole saliva is most frequently used for diagnosis of systemic diseases, because it can be easily collected and it contains most of the serum constituents. Abstract: Math is the backbone of any field. Still its a night mare for many. Recent survey proves that many students become dropouts from their higher education due to math courses. ICT is an enchanted word in the contemporary educational environment. It made the learning process more entertaining and almost made the knowledge loss negligible. Adopting the ICT in math courses are still in the infant level. Hence its a challenge placed in front of the IT and academic professionals teaching math to make a suitable ICT tools for math courses to make the learning an amusing experience. In this paper we have highlighted three main concepts which make the math classes in a fascinating way. The first method is introducing revolutionary hybrid ebooks which make the reading with both audio and video facilities. The second method is facilitating the flip class room so that student may have anywhere-anytime learning experience. Finally the recent trends in m-learning are using apps for math courses. We have highlighted the improvement showed by the students based on the survey conducted with two groups of students with m-learning tools and without m-learning tools. Even though there are good improvements showed by the students, we the researchers feel that few more improvements are required in these methodologies. The suggestions for the same are made in the recommendations and conclusion section.

Abstract: The world is heading towards renewable energy, but the two key disputes that stop its well-known adoption are the power production level and the price of the production. Distributed generation (DG), and hybrid systems with battery backup are the solution for uninterrupted power supply. It is obtained using the Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (NSGA II). Techno-economic methodology is used in this proposed system for the size optimization. The result is based on the system cost, in order to meet the load requirements. The effect of temporal sampling is optimized using low-rate temporal data. It is compared with hybrid DC microgrid, which has been optimized using high temporal resolution data.
