Abstract: the simple bony cyst is an intraosseous cavity without epithelial lining, being considered a pseudocyst. clinically, the lesion is usually asymptomatic and discovered by accident in a routine radiological examination. its etiology and patogenesis are not yet definitely established. the traditional treatment consists of realizing a surgical exploration and curettage of the bony wall. this article presents a case of simple bony cyst located in the mandibular symphysis, of median dimension of a masculine patient of 14 years of age, describing clinical, diagnostic aspect, imaging, as well as the treatment.

Ameloblastoma is a benign odontogenic tumor, locally invasive and recurrent, representing approximately 10% of odontogenic tumors. The majority of cases occur in the mandible with slow and asymptomatic growth that can lead to facial deformities. The treatment of choice is based upon on the type, location and size of the tumor, as well as the age of the patient. A case of multicystic ameloblastoma of the mandible affecting a 57 years old female patient is presented discussing the diagnostic, histological, and less invasive treatment used in the case.

Natal and neonatal teeth are rare anomalies in newborns that can cause feed disturbances, tongue ulceration (Riga-Fede disease) and risk of aspiration of them. The difference between natal and neonatal teeth is based on time of eruption. The natal teeth are those that are already present in the oral cavity since birth, and neonatal teeth are those that appear in the oral cavity in the first month of life. The aim of this paper is to present a case of neonatal tooth as well as to discuss, with literature basis, the most relevant aspects concerning the diagnosis and treatment employed.

The nasolabial cyst is a rare nonodontogenic cyst with its embryological origin little clear. They are extraosseous lesions with growth that appears like a swelling that lifts the nasal wing, painless, sliding and fluctuating. It is located in the alveolar apophysis near the base of the wing of the nose. The treatment consists of surgical enucleating of the lesion. This article presents a case of nasolabial cyst in a female patient of 46 years age, describing clinical, diagnostic, imaging, and histopathological aspects as well as the treatment employed.

Central ossifying fibroma (cementing fibroma / cemento ossifying fibroma) is a bone benign tumor almost exclusively from maxillary region but can be in the orbital bones, frontal, paranasal and temporal. Progressive growth and disfiguring swelling of slow evolution are characteristics with more prevalence in the mandible. The treatment choice is a surgical excision of the lesion. This article presents a case of central ossifying fibroma located in the region of the right posterior maxilla of large dimension of a female patient of 46 years of age, describing clinical, diagnostic, imaging, and histopathological aspects as well as the treatment employed.

Abstract: after briefly reviewing the concepts of ?coma? and ?alpha-coma?, we report the case of a patient with presumable pick's disease who spent several weeks in a vegetative state with a normal and reactive eeg in the alpha range in the later stages of her illness. we (a) emphasize some implications of the appearence of the eyes in such patients, b) stress the importance of distinguishing alpha activity from true alpha rhythm and (c) suggest the category ?alpha-coma? should include only those individuals bearing evidence of disorders of the junctional tegmentum of the pons and midbrain. in a complementary way, we propose that patients in a persistent vegetative state displaying normal eeg should be separately classified as persistent ?alpha-vegetative state?.
