Effects of Different Treatments on Physiological Characteristics of Cephalotaxus sinensis Seeds  [PDF]

Abstract: Cephalotaxus sinensis seeds can’t germinate even in the appropriate environment. However, numerous studies have showed that cold stratification and gibberellin acid (GA) can break the seed dormancy and promote seed germination effectively. To investigate the effect of cold stratification and different concentrations of exogenous GA3 on dormancy breaking in seeds of Cephalotaxus sinensis, we monitored germination rates and changes in soluble sugar, starch, amylase, soluble protein, free amino acid during cold stratification. The results showed that seeds stratified for 5 months germinated to 12.7%, while those disposed with 200, 400, 600 mg/L of GA3 germinated to 29.2%, 21.7%, and 18.4%, respectively. Free amino acid content was enhanced significantly, whereas soluble sugar content decreased during 45 days and then increased constantly. Additionally, the main reserves such as starch, protein decreased significantly during cold stratification, and cold stratification induced increases in the activities of α-amylase, (α + β)-amylase. The preliminary results show that the combination of GA3 and cold stratification has better effect to break seed dormancy.
The Causes of Dormancy and the Changes of Endogenous Hormone Content in Cephalotaxus sinensis Seeds  [PDF]

In many wild species, seeds are dormancy at maturity and will not germinate even under favorable environment conditions. Dormancy is a complex trail that is determined by many factors. Some studies have shown that cold stratification and the application of gibberellic acid (GA) can break seed dormancy and promote seed germination. The present study investigated the causes of plant dormancy and the effect of cold stratification and different concentrations of exogenous GA3 in regulating Cephalotaxus sinensis seed germination. Results showed that C. Sinensis seeds have good water permeability, which suggested that seed coats were not the main cause that inhibited the seed germination. There were germination inhibitions in all parts of seeds, and the order of inhibitory effect was: testa < endosperm (embryo), which indicated that existence of germination inhibitions was the main reason causing seed dormancy. Endogenous GAs and IAA (indole-3-acetic acid) content increased, while ABA (abscisic acid) content decreased over the experiments. ZR (zeatin riboside) content decreased in the early phase of cold stratification, but rebounded by the end of the experimental period. The changes of endogenous hormone indicated that GA, IAA and ZR played a positive role in seed germination, whereas ABA was associated with seed dormancy. Besides, the relative ratio of GA/ABA, IAA/ABA and ZR/ABA may play a more important role than their absolute level during the seed development.

Abstract: This paper provides references for the space service of public libraries in China. 51 public libraries in East China were investigated in terms of space type, space facilities and space service reconstruction; the current situation of space service was analyzed and some problems were revealed. Based on the investigation, the characteristics of public libraries’ space service in East China are summarized from the perspective of space type, space service concept and space service mode. And the problems in the aspects of new space service level, space service facility construction and space service evaluation mechanism are pointed out. Through the analysis, space service strategies of public libraries in China are proposed: libraries’ overall quality should be strengthened; space service based on information technology should be promoted; users’ needs should be respected and evaluation mechanism should be developed.

Abstract: As the largest branch of service trade, tourism trade has contributed continuously to the global economy. Starting from the related departments of tourism trade, this article used the method of Wang et al. (2013) to conduct value-added decomposition of the global input-output table for the period 2000-2014 and measured the GVC position and GVC participation index between China and the United States for first time. The author just intends to consider the related tourism industries, but it didn’t integrate the related industries to a complete tourism industry. The comparative study found that Chinas road transportation sector has advantage over the United States’, but overall the GVC position and GVC participation index of China tourism characteristic departments are less than the United States’. For the whole embedment degree of GVC, there is still a gap between China and the United States.
Economic Cycle, Uncertainty of Economic Policy and Cash Holding of Listed Companies  [PDF]

Based on the systematic review and economic analysis of the theoretical literature, we consider not only the impact of the economic cycle or the economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on the cash holding ratio, but also the comprehensive impact of the two on the cash holding rate. We raise the research hypothesis by using the data from 2004-2015 in the A-share listed companies which are listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen securities exchange as research samples. The empirical results show that: 1) There are respectively negative correlation between the economic cycle and the cash holding of listed companies, and positive correlation between the EPU and the cash holding. 2) During the boom, the cash holdings are significantly positive with the current EPU and the last stage; during the recession, the cash holdings of listed companies is significantly negatively correlated with the current EPU, while positive with the last stage. 3) We further examine the role of the economic cycle and the EPU on the cash holding value, and find that EPU will reduce the cash holding value. 4) When the economy is booming, the increase in EPU will reduce the market value of corporate cash holdings, but it is not significant. During recession, the increase in EPU will increase the market value of cash holdings.

Abstract: Target tracking is a well studied topic in wireless sensor networks. It is a procedure that nodes in the network collaborate in detecting targets and transmitting their information to the base-station continuously, which leads to data implosion and redundancy. To reduce traffic load of the network, a data compressing based target tracking protocol is proposed in this work. It first incorporates a clustering based data gather method to group sensor nodes into clusters. Then a novel threshold technique with bounded error is proposed to exploit the spatial correlation of sensed data and compress the data in the same cluster. Finally, the compact data presentations are transmitted to the base-station for targets localization. We evaluate our approach with a comprehensive set of simulations. It can be concluded that the proposed method yields excellent performance in energy savings and tracking quality.

Abstract: The main reservoir stratum of shale gas in the Jiaoshiba area, Sichuan basin is Wufeng-Longmaxi Formations. This paper calculates the tectonic difference stress values of JY1 well in different depths and numerically simulates the shale gas reservoir by elasto-plastic incremental method. The results of tectonic difference stress value suggest that the present tectonic stress values distribute strippedly in plane. The areas in favor of the development of fractures are stripped and mostly distributed in the northeast, middle and southwest of Jiaoshiba area, where the shale gas is concentrated.

Abstract: This paper mainly studies some properties of skew polynomial ring related to Morita invariance, Armendariz and (quasi)-Baer. First, we show that skew polynomial ring has no Morita invariance by the counterexample. Then we prove a necessary condition that skew polynomial ring constitutes Armendariz ring. We lastly investigate that condition of skew polynomial ring is a (quasi)-Baer ring, and verify that the conditions is necessary, but not sufficient by example and counterexample.
