The Significance of the Natural World in The Education of Little Tree  [PDF]

Forrest Carter’s The Education of Little Tree (ELT) was published as a memoir in 1976. Carter died in 1979, but his book gained in popularity, to win the American Booksellers Association Book of the Year award in 1991 and became a national best seller. The book explores the significance of nature and animals in a traditional Native American worldview, even as it espouses ecological consciousness via the education of Little Tree by his Cherokee grandparents. The Education of Little Tree has much to offer in its presentation of a Native American philosophy of life that includes caring for the earth and its creatures as well as other people, regardless of their skin color or ethnicity. This article aims to examine the ecological values portrayed by the traditional Cherokee way of life as presented in The Education of Little Tree.

Abstract: Crystals of the title compound, C8H9IO2, were obtained from a dimethyl sulfoxide solution of 2,6-dimethoxybenzoic acid and iodobenzene diacetate under a nitrogen atmosphere at 353 K. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked by weak C—H...π interactions, generating interpenetrating one-dimensional chains of perpendicularly oriented molecules extending along [011] and [0overline{1}1]. Chains are also formed through non-bonding C—I...π contacts extending in the same directions, projecting a zigzag motif in view down [100]. The I...Cg distance is 3.695 (2) and the C—I...Cg angle is 164.17 (14)°. The molecular symmetry m coincides with the mirror plane of the space group Cmc21, resulting in a half-molecule in the asymmetric unit (Z′ = ).

Abstract: In the title compound, C24H29Br2N5O6, a glycoluril derivative, the 1,4-dibromobenzene ring is fused to the seven-membered ring of the glycoluril unit containing two N atoms. The two five-membered rings in the glycoluril unit are approximately planar and the dihedral angle between them is 69.8 (2)°. The six-membered ring containing three N atoms adopts a chair conformation. The crystal packing is stabilized by an intermolecular non-classical C—H...O hydrogen bond and a weak C—H...π interaction. Both of the ester groups are found to be disordered over two positions. The occupancies of the disordered positions were refined to 0.73(1):0.27(1) and 0.56(1):0.44(1).

Reliable impulsive synchronization for a class ofnonlinear chaotic systems

Abstract: The problem of reliable impulsive synchronization for a class of nonlinear chaotic systems has been investigated in this paper. Firstly a reliable impulsive controller is designed by using the impulsive control theory. Then by the uniform asymptotic stability criteria of systems with impulsive effects, some sufficient conditions for reliable impulsive synchronization between the drive system and the response system are obtained. Numerical simulations are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
Soundness and Completeness Proof of Agent Intention Production in AgentSpeak

Abstract: Intention production is the procedure that BDI Agent drafts an action sequence to realize a goal. However, it is also a big obstacle to verify the validity of Agent intention produced by the specification of Agent Programming Languagc(API).In this paper, to prove the validity of intention execution in AgentSpeak, we constructed a model-theoretic semantics and a formal interpretation of Agent programs intention. Then, on the bases of the model-theoretic semantics and the operational semantics presented by Moreira and I3ordini, we proved the equivalence theorem; the intention in model-theoretic semantics of AgentSpcak language is equivalent with the one in operational semantics of AgentSpeak program According to the ectuivalence theorem, we can get the conclusion that intention execution of AgentSpeak is sound and complete.

Abstract: In this paper, a method of extracting rules from information system used niche immunity algorithm based on sharing mechanism is proposed. The principle of sharing and competing resource in the sharing mechanism is consistent with the relation of complementing and contending among rules. Ordinary methods of confidence measure have some shortcomings. New conception of flexible confidence is introduced in this article. The experiment proved, the new method obtains the good result not only in processing the data without conflict or noise, but also in processing the noise data and the data with the imbalance of the class distribution.
Formal Spsecification and Proof of Multi-Agent Applications Using Event B

Abstract: With increasingly complexity in Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), the problem of their verification and validation is acquiring increasing importance and rigorous design practices are needed in case of critical applications. Event B, which provides an accessible and rigorous development method, is ideal for the formal modelling of reactive systems. In this study, a practical approach for developing flexible and reliable formal specifications of MAS using Event B is described, exemplified on Contract Net Protocol (CNP) in the interaction of MAS and B models generated with evt2b supported by Atelier B are then proven in consistency and correctness. All the concepts of this approach are illustrated by a case study concerning the use of Event B for the modelling and verifying a multi-modal platform associating an intellectualized design system of shape and style in automobile. Moreover, the results of proof and evaluation of present method are presented.
Research on Learning Bayesian Networks by Particle Swarm Optimization

Abstract: A new approach to learning Bayesian networks (Bns) was proposed in this study. This approach was based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). We start by giving a fitness function to evaluate possible structure of BN. Next, the definition and encoding of the basic mathematical elements of PSO were given and the basic operations of PSO was designed which provides guarantee of convergence. Next, full samples for the training set and test set are generated from a known original Bayesian network with probabilistic logic sampling. After that, the structure of BN was learned from complete training set using improved PSO algorithm steps. Finally, the simulation experimental results also demonstrated sthis new approach=s efficiency.
