Physical Education Teachers’ Knowledge Assessment on Reimplant-Avulsion

Abstract: Objective: To assess the knowledge on reimplant-avulsion of Physical Education Teachers’ in the city of Caruaru (PE). Methods: The study was carried on in the city of Caruaru, Pernambuco (BR), and the participants were 79 professionals who were interviewed through a standard questionnaire containing 11 questions related to dental avulsion as well as to the procedures to be followed in such cases. Results: Only 20.3% of teachers knew what dental traumas are, but none of them had studied the subject during their undergraduate course. It was explained to participants what a dental avulsion was and 44.3% of them answered that they had already seen this kind of trauma in their classes. All professionals said they would give children a handkerchief or a towel for them to bite in order to control bleeding. 19% of the participants would not know what to do and 81% would wash the tooth in water. Most of them (86.1%) recognized the importance of an immediate treatment; all of them said they would wrap the tooth in a paper napkin until the child was assisted; and 26.6% said they would suggest an analgesic for the pain. Conclusion: Teachers did not show any knowledge of the emergency procedures that should be taken in a case of dental avulsion. The inclusion of such procedures in the programs of physical education courses and the availability of preventive educational programs is needed in order to increase the chances of a successful dental reimplant.

Abstract: the teaching of academic skills to individuals with autism has received little attention from research literature, probably because the classical deficits in communication, reciprocal social interaction and behaviors are seen as priorities in scientific investigations. nevertheless, the development of technologies for teaching academic skills to this population is necessary, mainly in the context of brazilian school inclusion. people with autism are being included with greater frequency in regular classes and, consequently, need adequate strategies to learn academic contents for their entrance, permanence and progress in the schools. many studies describe characteristics and difficulties that people with autism have, which can influence the way they learn. these variables need to be considered when planning appropriate teaching strategies for this population. among these variables are the ways in which these individuals respond to environmental stimuli, the way they think and their typical behaviors. this study describes strategies for teaching addition and subtraction to an adolescent with autism. these teaching procedures were elaborated based on the general characteristics of autism, principles derived from applied behavior analysis, and the repertoire of the participant. the results show gradual learning of the taught skills.

Abstract: In this article, we seek to analyse how the activities of the First National Black Congress, that happenned inthe city of Porto Alegre (1958) were related to the interests of the political parties, especially of those originated from the PTB (Brazilian Labour Party). We used to this work the interviews of people that witnessed and knew the influence of the PTB in the porto-alegrense black community in the 1950’s, as well as the annals of the Legislative Assembly of the Rio Grande do Sul and of Porto Alegre City Hall, the minutes of the meetings of the Sociedade Floresta Aurora, the Rio Grande do Sul Gazette, Correio do Povo Newspaper, personal letters and an appropriated bibliography.

Abstract: Este artigo defende a hipótese de que o romance As horas nuas (1989), de Lygia Fagundes Telles, apresenta um sofisticado jogo auto-referencial da obra dentro da obra. As cenas em que Rosa, a protagonista, tenta escrever suas memórias, mas é consumida peloalcoolismo, fortalecem as idéias de paródia e de descentramento estético, presentes nesse romance. Rosa narra e comenta a superficialidade de suas memórias até abandonar seu projeto de escrita, que pode ser lido como uma paródia das autobiografias. Essa hipótese será sustentada metodologicamente pelos conceitos pós-estruturalistas propostos por Jacques Derrida, que defende a escrita como jogo, remédio, veneno ou teatro, entre outrosconceitos. A partir dos suplementos estéticos da encena o de Rosa, o leitor, preocupado com o “como” a obra foi construída, descobre novos roteiros desse romance que se autoquestiona no próprio desenrolar da narrativa. Ao final, interpreta-se o silêncio de Rosa como uma crítica à superficialidade e ao narcisismo do gênero autobiográfico. This study defends the idea that the novel As horas nuas (1989), by Lygia Fagundes Telles, presents a sophisticated auto-referential game concerning the artistic production in itself. The scenes in which Rosa, the main character, tries to write her memories, but is absorbed by alcoholism, strengths the idea of parody and esthetic disorder in this novel. Rosa narrates and comments the superficiality of her memories until the moment that she abandons herwriting project, which can be read as a parody of autobiographies. This hypothesis is supported methodologically by the post-structuralism concepts proposed by Jacques Derrida, which defends the writing as a game, medicine, poison or theater, beyond other concepts. Using the esthetic supplements of Rosa’s staging, which narrates her memories to a recorder, the reader concerned about “how” the novel was built discovers new scripts of the novel that provokes self-questioning in the development of the narrative. In the end, the silence of Rosa can be interpreted as a criticism about the superficiality and the narcissism of the autobiographies.
