Non pharmacologic pain management on oncologic patients: systematic review

Abstract: Non pharmacologic therapies, also classified as complementary or alternative therapy has been used to control pain in many patients. In order to know which non pharmacologic interventions are being used for pain relief in patients with cancer, it was conducting a systematic review of the literature. We selected five articles that consider educational strategies for patients, families and professionals as well as guided imagery as possible non pharmacologic interventions for the management of pain in cancer patients. It is crucial that the multidisciplinary team in oncology, and keep updated their knowledge on prevention, treatment, control and relief of pain, also start the challenge of improving and diversifying practices for management of pain in an individual.
Analysis of Risk Factors Sociodemographic for the Functional Dependence of Adults with Spinal Cord Injury  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the odds ratio of risk factors of sociodemographic and functional capacity of adults with spinal cord injury. Methods: Analytical, cross-sectional, quantitative study accomplished with a group of 47 people with spinal cord injury in hospitals and 27 in the household. The data were collected through a structured instrument composed of independent variables related to epidemiological and clinical data on spinal cord injury and dependent variables corresponding to the scale of the Barthel Index (BI). The data were analysed with the two-tailed chi-square or Fisher’s exact tests using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 20.0 (SPSS Inc., USA). Odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used as an estimate of the risk. The level of significance was set at a p value ≤0.05. Results: It was found that males (OR = 4.804, p = 0.041), the education less than ten years (OR = 3.000, p = 0.036), the hospital care (OR = 5.250, p = 0.002) and injury time less than six months (OR = 5.250, p = 0.002) are sociodemographic factors that are associated with the functional capacity of individuals with spinal cord injury. Moreover, the total dependence (p < 0.001) and severe dependence (p = 0.019) are associated with quadricplegia. It was found that males (p = 0.041), the education less than ten years (p = 0.036), attention to hospital health (p = 0.002) and minor injury time less than six months (p = 0.002) are sociode-mographic factors associated with functional capacity of subjects. Conclusion: As a result, it was found that knowing the epidemiological and clinical factors of people with spinal cord injury is relevant to plan the nursing care. In other words, knowing the epidemiological and clinical factors of people with spinal cord injury is relevant to achieve the functional independence of these people, and it was demonstrated that the social determinants of health are interrelated and interdependent of chronic health conditions, as evidenced by the Care Model for Chronic Conditions.

Abstract: Esse trabalho resgata a historicidade das ideologias que envolvem as políticas educacionais num contexto nacional, porém, n o dissociado do contexto global, por acreditar que este resgate é relevante para a compreens o do momento atual. Utilizando olhar crítico e objetivo quanto as políticas que regem a forma o dos professores em seu nível inicial e continuada. Políticas essas ditadas pelo capitalismo e princípios neoliberais. Idealizadas e formuladas por organismos externos ao governo e sistema nacional mas acatadas e disseminadas pelos mesmos. Busca, ent o, expor também sobre a legisla o vigente, que traz as diretrizes, objetivos e finalidades para essa forma o, e sobre as discuss es que envolvem o assunto e nos levam a questionar a política da eficiência na profissionaliza o, ou flexibiliza o do magistério, e o caráter intensificador da forma o continuada, afim de levar o docente a alienar-se do contexto político e ideológico que o cerca. This work rescues the historicidade of the ideologies that involve the educacional politics in a nacional context, however not dissociado of the global context, for believing that this rescue is excellent for the understanding of the current moment. Using to look at critic and objective how much te politics that conduct the formation of the professors in its initial and continued level. Abstract: Neste texto pretendemos abordar criticamente algumas dimens es da configura o das políticas educacionais, no discurso neoliberal, tendo como foco de análise a pesquisa desenvolvida na UNIVERSIDADE PúBLICA no final do século XX e inicio do século XXI. Na seqüência, apresentaremos algumas considera es gerais sobre como se constrói a retórica neoliberal no campo educacional. Nosso objetivo foi o de questionar a forma do Estado Neoliberal, pensar e projetar a política educacional na pesquisa acadêmica desenvolvida pela Universidade Pública. In this text we intend critical to approach some dimensions of the configuration of the educational politics, in the liberal speech, having as focus of analysis the research developed in the UNIVERSITY PUBLISHES in the end of century XX and beginning of century XXI. Our objective was to question the form of the liberal State, to think and to project the educational politics in the academic research developed by the Public University. EVOLU O DE QUEIMADURAS SOB A O DE DIFERENTES AGENTES TóPICOS

Abstract: Vários estudos têm sido realizados buscando um tratamento eficaz que n o só auxilie na recupera o da árealesada pela queimadura, como na preven o da sepse. Esta pesquisa visa identificar os medicamentos maiseficazes no tratamento para queimaduras padronizadas de segundo grau por contato na regi o dorsal de ratos,cujo tegumento assemelha-se ao humano. Os animais foram distribuídos em 4 grupos, onde um n o sofreunenhum tipo de tratamento (grupo controle). Nos demais, os ratos foram distribuídos aleatoriamente emgrupos para testar 3 agentes tópicos, sendo utilizados para este experimento: sulfadiazina de prata (SP), ácidohialur nico (AH) e ácido ascórbico (AA). Após a queimadura, realizaram-se aplica es dos trêsmedicamentos sobre as feridas durante períodos de 5, 10 e 15 dias. Após o sacrifício dos animais ao final dos3 períodos de tratamento, foram retiradas amostras do tegumento das regi es lesadas para análisehistopatológica, mediante de técnicas de rotina. Observou-se que o AH apresentou maior poder decicatriza o nos 5 primeiros dias de pesquisa (p= 0,032). Ao término dos 15 dias, concluiu-se que todas asles es sofreram reepiteliza o, inclusive as que n o receberam qualquer tipo de tratamento, do grupocontrole. Embora o profissional de enfermagem deva seguir a terapêutica estabelecida pelas institui es desaúde, ele deve aplicar seus conhecimentos técnicos e científicos para propor eventuais mudan as, visando àpromo o e recupera o de saúde, conforme disponibilidade de cada institui o, limitando assim o tempo deestadia nos hospitais.
TRADU O E ADAPTA O DO PREMATURE INFANT PAIN PROFILE PARA A LíNGUA PORTUGUESA

Abstract: El objetivo del estudio fue traducir y adaptar la versión del Premature Infant Pain Profile para el portugués de Brasil. Es un estudio transversal y metodológico para validación de la tradición de instrumento. El proceso se llevó a cabo en cuatro etapas: traducción inicial, síntesis, re-traducción y análisis por jueces. Se establecieron cuatro versiones distintas del instrumento traducido al portugués y una versión sintética fue producida a partir de traducciones anteriores. Posteriormente, dos versiones fueron re-traducidas independientemente y no mostraron diferencias importantes del original. Un comité de jueces revisó la versión resumida y las retraducciones con respecto a la equivalencia semántica y idiomática y consideraron adecuada la versión del instrumento en portugués. El instrumento Perfil da Dor no Recém-Nascido Pré-termo fue considerado adaptado al idioma portugués, para su aplicación en la investigación y en la práctica clínica. Esto contribuye, especialmente, para la internacionalización de los resultados de la investigación en Brasil.

Abstract: Se, de acordo com a Constitui o Federal, a Universidade se caracteriza pela indissociabilidade entre Ensino, Pesquisa e Extens o, na prática essa intera o n o ocorre com facilidade. Neste artigo propomo-nos a discutir as tens es e os desafios nesse processo. Através dessas reflex es será possível perceber que, para a integra o ocorrer, será necessário repensar a estrutura da universidade, especialmente no que respeita ao gerenciamento das três atividades que caracterizam a universidade e à organiza o dos cursos, bem como capacitar os docentes tanto para a pesquisa quanto para o magistério superior. According to the federal constitution, university characterizes itself by the integration between the Teaching, Research and Extension, but in the practice generally this interaction does not happen. In this text we will analyze the tensions and challenges that exist in this process. Through this discussion, it will be possible to conclude that, for this integration to happen, it be necessary to rethink the structure of university, especially in what says respect to the management of these three activities that characterize the university and its organization, as well as the formation of the professors for the research and for the teaching. Abstract: O presente trabalho relata os resultados preliminares da realiza o de uma pesquisa de campo em uma escola da rede pública do DF, de uma Classe de Acelera o-CA, como base para um novo modelo da prática de ensino e da forma o da cidadania. Para tanto, desenvolveram-se oficinas com alunos da CA, utilizando-se a prática do Psicodrama Pedagógico bem como exercícios de Tai Chi Chuan. Nesses encontros, foram trabalhados elementos pertinentes ao tema Cidadania, entendido como o próprio direito à vida no sentido pleno. This paper aims reports some results of a counseling program carried out with elementary school as a basic developed under the psychodramatic approach its essence and one’s own citizenship. The paper developed workshops with students from an Acceleration Class in a Public System Elementary School. Those meetings approached to Citizenship, which was understood through broader meanings of the right to live. Neural mobilization reverses behavioral and cellular changes that characterize neuropathic pain in rats

Abstract: Background The neural mobilization technique is a noninvasive method that has proved clinically effective in reducing pain sensitivity and consequently in improving quality of life after neuropathic pain. The present study examined the effects of neural mobilization (NM) on pain sensitivity induced by chronic constriction injury (CCI) in rats. The CCI was performed on adult male rats, submitted thereafter to 10 sessions of NM, each other day, starting 14 days after the CCI injury. Over the treatment period, animals were evaluated for nociception using behavioral tests, such as tests for allodynia and thermal and mechanical hyperalgesia. At the end of the sessions, the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) and spinal cord were analyzed using immunohistochemistry and Western blot assays for neural growth factor (NGF) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP). Results The NM treatment induced an early reduction (from the second session) of the hyperalgesia and allodynia in CCI-injured rats, which persisted until the end of the treatment. On the other hand, only after the 4th session we observed a blockade of thermal sensitivity. Regarding cellular changes, we observed a decrease of GFAP and NGF expression after NM in the ipsilateral DRG (68% and 111%, respectively) and the decrease of only GFAP expression after NM in the lumbar spinal cord (L3-L6) (108%). Conclusions These data provide evidence that NM treatment reverses pain symptoms in CCI-injured rats and suggest the involvement of glial cells and NGF in such an effect.
