Teor e composi o química do óleo essencial de Hyptis marrubioides Epl., Lamiaceae em fun o da sazonalidade = Content and chemical composition of Hyptis marrubioides essential oil in function of seasons

Abstract: Os oleos essenciais sao principios odoriferos armazenados em celulas especiais da planta. O oleo essencial no genero Hyptis e usado como anestesico, antiespasmodico, antiinflamatorio e pode induzir aborto em doses elevadas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influencia da sazonalidade no teor e composicao do oleo essencial de Hyptis marrubioides. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado, com quatro tratamentos (inverno, primavera, verao e outono) e seis repeticoes, totalizando 60 plantas. O oleo essencial foi extraido por hidrodestilacao, em aparelho de Clevenger. A analise qualitativa do oleo essencial foi por cromatografia em fase gasosa (CG/EM). Na estacao do verao, as folhas das plantas de H. marrubiodes apresentaram os maiores teores de oleo essencial. Nas demais estacoes, os teores de oleo essencial obtidos foram semelhantes entre si. Os componentes majoritarios no oleo essencial foram os monoterpenoides α-tujona e β-tujona. As concentracoes relativas dos picos correspondentes a β-tujona nao apresentaram diferencas consideraveis nas quatro estacoes. Os sesquiterpenoides oxigenados (cedrol e cariofilenol) e nao-oxigenados (α-copaeno, β-cariofileno, germacreno D e cadaleno) foram encontrados em menores quantidades no oleo essencial, entretanto observam-se diferencas quantitativas ao longo das estacoes. In summer, plant leaves showed higher essential oil content. In the other seasons, essential oil content was similar. The majorcompounds in the essential oil were monoterpene α-thujone and β-thujone. The peak relative concentrations of β-thujone did not show considerable difference among the seasons. The oxygenate sesquiterpenoids (cedrol and caryophyllenol) and not oxygenate (α-copaene, α-caryophyllene, germacrene D and cadalene), were found in lower quantity in the essential oil; however, quantitative differences were observed over the seasons.

Abstract: the objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of the application of potassium silicate via foliar and in fertirrigation on the physcochemical attributes, quality and coloration indices of strawberry fruits. the experimental design utilized was completely randomized in a 5 x 2 factorial with five concentrations of potassium silicate (0; 0.25; 0.5; 0.75 and 1% of sili-k?), weekly, in presence and absence of si in the fertirrigation solution (0 and 94 mg dm-3), with five replicates in each treatment. the "fruits" analyzed were collected 110 days after planting for determination of citric acid, pulp ph, total pectin, soluble pectin, pectin solubilization, total sugars, glucose and sucrose. the analyzed coloration indices were: l and a indices of external and internal coloration of the "fruits". the potassium silicate foliate application reduced the citric acid content and pulp ph and raises the total contents of sugars and glucose. associated to si in fertirrigation, increased concentrations of potassium silicate foliar applied reduced the solubilization of pectin that are always smaller in absence of si in fertirrigation. the concentrations of leaf-applied potassium silicate in the presence or absence si fertirrigation change the brightness and the internal and external color of the "fruits".
The germination of bush mint (Hyptis marrubioides EPL.) seeds as a function of harvest stage, light, temperature and duration of storage

Abstract: this study evaluated the effect of light, temperature, physiologic stage at harvest and length of time on the germination of hyptis marrubioides seeds. two trials were conducted. the first experiment was performed immediately after the seed harvest and consisted of a 2 x 3 x 3 factorial design with 2 environmental conditions (light and dark), 3 temperatures (20, 30 and 20/30oc) and 3 seed harvest times (green colored seeds, light brown seeds and dark brown seeds). the second experiment was conducted in the presence of light at a temperature of 30oc and consisted of a 4 x 3 factorial design, with 4 storage times (0, 6, 12 and 18 months) and the 3 three harvest physiologic stages used in the previous experiment. both of the experiments were conducted in randomized blocks, with 4 replications of 100 seeds. light did not affect germination. by contrast, a temperature of 20oc retarded the germination process, although the percentage of germinating seeds was not affected. seed storage and the different harvest physiologic stages affected the germination velocity index (ivg) and the germination percentage. seeds that were harvested at the more mature stage (dark brown color) could be stored for up to 18 months.

Abstract: ocimum basilicum l. cv. maria bonita is a medicinal aromatic plant of the lamiaceae family, it is rich in essential oils with high industrial interest. the present work aimed to study the influence of leaf processing (whole and ground leaf) in two drying types (oven-drying at 38o c and room temperature using moisture dryer) on the content and chemical composition of the essential oil. a completely randomized design was used with 4 treatments and 6 replicates. the essential oil obtained by hydrodestillation of the leaves was analyzed by gc and gc/ms. the results show that the drying type and the processing of the leaf influence the content and chemical composition of the essential oil. high amounts of linalol were obtained when the leaves underwent dry processing. the oven-dried conserved the aroma and the green color of the leaves, preserving the original characteristics of the cultivar.

Abstract: this work describes the chemical composition of the volatile oil of hyptis marrubioides cultivated in field and greenhouse. the experimental design was completely randomized, with ten replications for each type of cultivation. the volatile oil was extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gc-ms. the highest content of volatile oil was found for plants grown in field. the highest percentage of the compounds present in oils was observed in samples grown in the field, such as germacra-4(15),5,10(14)-trien-1-α-ol (16.34%), β-caryophyllene (10.42%), γ-muurolene (12.83%) and trans-thujone (9.98%). however, some compounds were found only in plants grown in a greenhouse, such as cis-muurol-5-en-4α-ol (10.84%), α-cadinol (3.06%) and eudesma-4(15),7-dien-1β-ol (6.82%).

Abstract: this study aimed to evaluate the effects of organic fertilization at planting and dressing on the aboveground part dry biomass and on the content and yield of essential oil of mint (mentha arvensis). the experiment consisted of two stages (harvests). a randomized complete block design was used, with three replications. at the first stage, five different cattle manure dosages (0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 kg m-2) applied to the plots at planting, were evaluated and the first harvest was carried out 120 days later. at the second stage after the first harvest, the plots were subdivided in four split-plot and four cattle manure dosages (0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 kg m-2) were applied at dressing, following a split-plot design. the second harvest was carried out 120 days after the first one. the fresh biomass was dried in the oven at 37oc and the essential oil was extracted in a clevenger apparatus. aboveground part dry biomass (g), essential oil content (w/w %) and essential oil yield were determined. the levels of cattle manure applied at planting and dressing affected in a positive linear way the aboveground part dry biomass production and the essential oil yield. essential oil content was not affected by different organic manure levels.

Abstract: purpose: to characterize the aspects of perception and vocal recognition in voice training groups through the participants' drawings and statements about voice. methods: documental analysis of final reports from four voice training groups which took place in the probationary period in community speech-language-pathology i and ii of one speech-language-pathology course for the analysis of content of the drawings and statements written by 53 subjects. results: the categories identified by the analysis of drawings and statements were: vocal image or value attributed to voice with a positive image/value prevailing in the drawings and negative one in the statements. as for vocal attributes, the auditive-proprioceptive attribute prevailed, whereas there was less stress on socio-cultural, psycho-emotional and professional attributes. vocal parameters with higher occurrence were loudness, pitch, articulation and vocal quality. conclusion: drawings and statements written about voice are showed as resources which can enable the expression of perception and knowledge of the subjects about their voice and need to be better explored in educational and speech and language training areas which have the exchange of knowledge, dialogs and active participation of subjects in high regard and are coherent with the health-promoting perspective.
