Abstract: In this paper, a technical review with recent advances of the microstrip antennas loaded with shorting posts is presented. The overall size of the antenna is significantly reduced by a single shorting posts and the effect of the various parameters of shorting posts on short-circuit microstrip antenna is also discussed.

Abstract:

The steady two-dimensional, laminar flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid near a stagnation point with heat transfer over a permeable surface in the presence of a uniform magnetic field is considered. Taking suitable similarity variables, the governing boundary layer equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations and solved numerically by Shooting method. The effects of the suction parameter, the magnetic parameter, the Prandtl number and the Eckert number are studied on the velocity and temperature distributions.

Abstract:

An analysis is made for the steady two-dimensional laminar boundary layer flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting fluid near a stagnation point past a shrinking sheet with slip in the presence of a magnetic field. The governing boundary layer equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations by taking suitable similarity variables and solved numerically by Shooting method. The effects of the various parameters such as velocity ratio parameter, slip parameter, Prandtl number, Eckert number and magnetic parameter for velocity and temperature distributions have been discussed in detail through graphical representation.

Taking suitable similarity variables, the governing boundary layer equations are transformed to ordinary differential equations and solved numerically by a perturbation technique for a small magnetic parameter. The effects of various parameters such as unsteadiness parameter, velocity parameter, magnetic parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number for velocity and temperature distributions along with local Skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number have been discussed in detail through numerical and graphical representations.
Influence of Pre-Impregnation Treatment on Bamboo Reinforced Epoxy/UPE Resin Composites  [PDF]

Abstract: Bamboo based biocomposites were made with woven bamboo mats and epoxy/unsaturated polyester (UPE) resins. The effects of pre-impregnation on the mechanical and water resistant properties of composites were studied. An alkaline treatment was used to enhance the fiber wetting so as to achieve complete pre-impregnation with epoxy and unsaturated polyester resins. A combined treatment of alkali and dilute epoxy/polyester gives the best result. Bending strength, modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, tensile modulus, impact strength, water absorption were evaluated and compared for all composites. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) studies of the composites tensile fracture surface also indicated that there is an improved adhesion between fiber and matrix. The mechanical as well as water resistant properties of the biocomposites improved after pre-impregnation treatment.

Abstract:

We introduce a homology-based recombination approach for generating a cDNA construct. This method depends on amplifying several exon fragments and their fusions by the homology-based recombination. This method provides a way to generate the cDNA sequence of any gene without any need for its mRNA. The paper describes the strategy by assembling cDNA of the MYB1 and MYB2 genes of Arabidopsis thaliana.

Abstract: The following is a thermodynamic analysis of a III order (and some aspects of a IV order) phase transition. Such a transition can occur in a superconductor if the normal state is a diamagnet. The equation for a phase boundary in an H-T (H is the magnetic field, T, the temperature) plane is derived. by considering two possible forms of the gradient energy, it is possible to construct a field theory which describes a III or a IV order transition and permits a study of thermal fluctuations and inhomogeneous order parameters.
Dynamics of 2D Monolayer Confined Water in Hydrophobic and Charged Environments

Abstract: Using molecular dynamics simulations we study the dynamics of a water-like TIP5P model of water in hydrophilic and hydrophobic confinement. We find that in case of extreme nanocofinement such that there is only one molecular layer of water between the confinement surface, the dynamics of water remains Arrhenius with a very high activation energy up to high temperatures. In case of polar (hydrophilic) confinement, The intermediate time scale dynamics of water is drastically modified presumably due to the transient coupling of dipoles with the effective electric field due to the surface charges. Specifically, we find that in the presence of the polar surfaces, the dynamics of monolayer water shows anomalous region -- namely the lateral mean square displacement displays a distinct superdiffusive intermediate time scale behavior in addition to ballistic and diffusive regimes. We explain these finding by proposing a simple model. Furthermore, we find that confinement and the surface polarity changes the vibrational density of states specifically we see the enhancement of the low frequency collective modes in confinement compared to bulk water. Finally, we find that the length scale of translational-orientational coupling increases with the strength of the polarity of the surface.
