Pinheiro, Débora Patrícia Nemer;
Psicologia em Estudo , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-73722004000100009
Abstract: the objective of the present work is to revise and critically discuss the resilience concept defined as the capacity of psychological recovery of the human being before adversity, violence and catastrophes in life. in modern society, that changes faster and deeper, demanding constant adaptation efforts and, therefore turning the resilience into a challenge to the new millennium. the analyzed phenomenon lead to the conclusion that the resilience should not be part of a ideological conceptual group, on the contrary it rises from the sense that is attributed to the human existence, that is to say, for the capacity to make affective and professional liaisons and still for the existence of a life project.

Health (Health) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/health.2017.97078
Background: Among hemoglobinopathies, the most prevalent in our population are hemoglobins S and C, which are capable of producing disease when homozygous. In cases of double heterozygotes with sickle hemoglobin C (SC), the disease is less expressive in its clinical condition and rarer. Case report: Patient has a previous hospitalization with pain in the joints in knee and hip and several febrile peaks. Upon physical examination, the patient had difficulty in walking, without edema, pedal and tibial posterior pulses present, with no signs of compartment syndrome. Complementary exams revealed anemia, leukocytosis and lymphopenia. The hemoglobin electrophoresis showed the SC Hemoglobinopathy. The treatment with antibiotic therapy according to the protocol (Oxacillin and Ceftriaxone) was restarted and submitted to joint drainage in affected limb. Conclusion: Osteomyelitis and septic arthritis in patients in the pediatric age group should be considered as serious infections that deserve hospitalization and more expressive treatment.

Abstract: to verify the presence of cross-reaction among leishmaniosis, ehrlichiosis and babesiosis in serological diagnostics used in human visceral leishmaniasis control programs, serum samples from leishmaniasis endemic and non-endemic areas were collected and tested by indirect fluorescent antibody (ifat) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (elisa). all serum samples from endemic areas were positive for leishmania sp., by elisa and ifat, 51% positive for babesia canis and 43% for ehrlichia canis by ifat. none of the serum samples from non-endemic areas were positive for leishmania sp., by ifat, but 67% were positive for b. canis and 78% for e. canis using the same test. when tested by elisa for leishmania sp., four samples from non-endemic area were positive. these dogs were then located and no clinical signs, parasites or antibody was detected in new tests for a six month period. only one of these 4 samples was positive for b. canis by ifat and elisa and three for e. canis by ifat. the results of the work suggest a co-infection in the endemic area and no serological cross-reaction among these parasites by ifat and elisa.

Abstract: We classified the estrous cycle of the Mongolian gerbil and described the structures and relations of the uterine tube in the pelvic abdominal cavity and the histology of its coating epithelium. From 19 adult female Mongolian gerbils the uterine tube has been investigated by anatomy and histology using intact tissue. A polyestrous and irregular cycle was observed, with five different phases: proestrus, estrus I, estrus II, metaestrus, and diestrus. Estrus I is characterized by a smaller number of dispersed keratinized cells compared to estrus II. The uterine tube is related to the distal extremity of the uterine horn and to the ovary and presents an outer serosal covering (peritoneal visceral lamina), a muscular tunica media consisting of smooth circular fibers and a mucosal layer with simple covering epithelium composed of secretory and ciliated cylindric cells. Histologically, it is divided into four different areas: intramural, isthmus, ampulla and infundibulum. The gerbil is not an ideal model for the study of the estrous cycle due to its irregularity.

Abstract: The three-dimensional structure of the lingual papillae and the connective tissues of the tongue of chinchila were observed by scanning electron microscopy. The NaOH cell maceration method were used to remove the epithelial layer to visualize the connective tissue architecture. The dorsum of the tongue is covered by keratinized stratified squamous epithelium and possessed four types of papillae: filiform, fungiform, foliate and vallate. SEM images demonstrated the epithelial cell surfaces with microridges, distinct intercellular borders and taste pores. The connective tissue core of filiform papillae of the anterior and intermediate part of the tongue consisted of two or three rod-like protrusions while on the posterior part demonstrated large base with several apical protrusions.

Abstract: the human nuclear protein rbap48 is a member of the tryptophan/aspartate (wd) repeat family, which binds to the retinoblastoma (rb) protein. it also corresponds to the smallest subunit of the chromatin assembly factor and is able to bind to the helix 1 of histone h4, taking it to the dna in replication. a cdna homologous to the human gene rbap48 was isolated from a schistosoma mansoni adult worm library and named smrbap48. the full length sequence of smrbap48 cdna is 1036 bp long, encoding a protein of 308 amino acids. the transcript of smrbap48 was detected in egg, cercariae and schistosomulum stages. the protein shows 84% similarity with the human rbap48, possessing four wd repeats on its c-terminus. a hypothetical tridimensional structure for the smrbap48 c-terminal domain was constructed by computational molecular modeling using the b-subunit of the g protein as a model. to further verify a possible interaction between smrbap48 and s. mansoni histone h4, the histone h4 gene was amplified from adult worm genomic dna using degenerated primers. the gene fragment of smh4 is 294 bp long, encoding a protein of 98 amino acids which is 100% identical to histone h4 from drosophila melanogaster.
