Three-channel Symmetric Tight Frame Wavelet Design Method

Abstract: A novel technique was presented for designing three-channel tight wavelet frame filters, motivated by the discovery of the property of the Selesnick tight frame wavelet. The filters had a linear phase response. The parametric Bernstein polynomials were utilized in the construction of the tight frame wavelets. The perfect reconstruction was inherent in the structure of the filters. The filters are nearly shift invariant and can be readily obtained by the spectral factorization method. Our method has lower computational complexity.
A High-Luminescence Fringelike Field Emission from Screen-Printed Carbon Nanotube and Zinc Oxide Composite Film  [PDF]

Abstract: A fringelike field emission with high-luminescence and stable emission current from screen-printed carbon nanotube mixed zinc oxide (CNT-ZnO) composite cathode was investigated. The luminescent patterns are significantly different from those observed in the field emission measure of pure CNT cathode. SEM images reveal that the CNTs are perfectly matched with ZnO powders by filling the interspaces in CNT film. XRD analysis demonstrates that the CNTs and ZnO have a high degree of crystalline perfection. Field emission measurement exhibits that the turn-on field of CNT-ZnO cathode is 2.08 V/µm, lower than 2.46 V/µm for pure CNT cathode. The large fringelike emission current at the brims of CNT-ZnO cathode is attributed to a combination of the increased effective contact area of CNTs, which decrease the sheet resistance of cathode film, and the dangled CNT bundles at the brims of CNT-ZnO film cathode.
Role of atmospheric heat source/sink over the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau in quasi-4-year oscillation of atmosphere-land-ocean interaction

Abstract: Using 1961–1995 monthly atmospheric apparent heat source/sink/〈Q 1〉 over the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau (QXP) and reanalysis data of NCEP/NCAR, and 1961–1994 monthly SST of UK/GISST2, the statistical study is undertaken on the QXP heat source/sink in relation to both atmospheric circulation in Asia and El Ni o/La Ni a events. It is discovered that there exists noticeable interaction in a quasi-4-year period among the 〈Q 1〉 of the QXP, low-level meridional winds east of the QXP, low-level zonal winds in the equatorial Pacific, SST in the equatorial eastern Pacific, and the circulation at mid and high latitudes north of the QXP. They have difference in phase. The cold source intensity of the QXP in winter favours a low-level meridional wind anomaly to prevail in the mainland of China and its coast east of the QXP and to last until the subsequent autumn. The wind anomaly can induce a low-level zonal wind anomaly of the tropic Pacific that finally affects an El Ni o/La Ni a event in the autumn and subsequent winter. The event in autumn/winter has effect on the deep trough position and cold air track of East Asia in next winter that influences the intensity of the QXP winter cold source.
Inverse correlation between ancient winter and summer monsoons in East Asia?

Abstract: There is a scientific debate on the relationship between ancient winter and summer monsoons in East Asia. Some scholars think that East Asian winter and summer monsoons are anti-correlated, and others think not. For this reason, this study is motivated to assess their linkage from the paleoclimate simulation perspective, through analyzing the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) and mid-Holocene (MH) climate simulated by CCSM3 model. Compared to the present climate, the Aleutian low is found to be deepened and the East Asian winter monsoon (EAWM) is stronger during the LGM winter. The Pacific high in summer is noticed to be weakened and the East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) is weaker at the LGM. During the MH, the Aleutian low and the Asian high in winter are intensified, and the Asian low and the Pacific high in summer are enhanced, indicating that the EAWM and EASM are both stronger than today. Therefore, the EAWM is not always negatively correlated to the EASM. Their relationship may be different at different geological stages. It can be obtained at least from the numerical simulation results that the EAWM and the EASM is negatively correlated during the cooling period, while positively correlated during the warming period.

Abstract: In this paper, we using phase plane method have derived the stability criteria of linear and nonlinear Rossby waves under the conditions of semi-geostrophic approximation and have gotten the solutions and geostrophic vorticity of corresponding solitary Rossby waves. It is pointed out that the wave stability is connected with the distri-bution of zonal flow and when the zonal flow is different the solitary wave trough or ridge is formed.
Methods of exploring energy diffusion in lattices with finite temperature

Abstract: We discuss two methods for exploring energy diffusion in lattices with finite temperature in this paper. The first one is the energy-kick (EK) method. To apply this method, one adds an external energy kick to a particle in the lattice, and tracks its evolution by evolving the kicked system. The second one is the fluctuation-correlation (FC) method. The formula for calculating the probability density function (PDF) using the canonical ensemble is slightly revised and extended to the microcanonical ensemble. We show that the FC method has advantages over the EK method theoretically and technically. Theoretically, the PDF obtained by the FC method reveals the diffusion processes of the inner energy while the PDF obtained by the EK method represents that of the kick energy. The diffusion processes of the inner energy and the external energy added to the system, i.e., the kick energy, may be different quantitatively and even qualitatively depending on models. To show these facts, we study not only the equilibrium systems but also the stationary nonequilibrium systems. Examples showing that the inner energy and the kick energy may have different diffusion behavior are reported in both cases. The technical advantage enables us to study the long-time diffusion processes and thus avoids the finite-time effect.
Structure and properties of bone-like-nanohydroxyapatite/gelatin/polyvinyl alcohol composites  [PDF]

Abstract: Bone-like nanohydroxyapatite powders (b-nanoHA) were synthesized in simulated body fluid (SBF). The b-nanoHA, gelatin (Gel) and Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) were used to prepare bone-like composites (b-nanoHA/ Gel/PVA) at room temperature. Characterizations of b-nanoHA powders and b-nanoHA/Gel/PVA composites were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Bending strength and compressive strength of the composite were tested. It was found that microstructure of the b-nanoHA powders was whisker shape and its crystalline degree was low similar to natural bone, bending strength and compressive strength of the b-nanoHA/Gel/PVA composite depended on the mixing ratio of HA, Gel and PVA, and also PVA could induce the network formation in the b-nanoHA/Gel/ PVA composite.

Different from the works in the literature, the new theorem is constructed under the(C)* condition instead of (PS)* condition.
Development of a Rapid and Simple Non-Derivatization Method to Determine Constituents and Antioxidative Capacity of Camellia Oils by HPTLC  [PDF]

Abstract: Camellia oil is an edible vegetable oil with high value of nutrition and health protection function such as antioxidant and adjusting blood fat. In this study, a simple, rapid and effective HPTLC method was developed for analyzing the composition and antioxidant constituents of camellia oil. The HPTLC was performed on G60 plate with n-hexane-diethyl ether-acetic acid (6:4:0.1, v/v/v) as mobile phase combined with two coloration methods (ethanol containing 10% phosphomolybdic acid, ethanol containing 0.03% DPPH) and scanning densitometry technique. The unsaturated fatty glyceride, free fatty acids, sterols and lipids including triolein, oleic acid, ergosterin, β-sitosterol, tocopherol and phospholipids in camellia oils were determined and performed densitometrically at λs1 = 620 nm and λs2 = 517 nm. The results show that the main components of different samples of camellia oil are similar, however the contents are diverse. The antioxidative test shows that camellia oil has obvious antioxidant capability as olive oil, especially the pressed virgin oil. Therefore, this non-derivatization HPTLC method can be used for composition and antioxidative capacity determination of camellia oils.

Abstract:

Under the background of smart grid’s real-time electricity prices theory, a real-time electricity prices and wireless communication smart meter was designed. The metering chip collects power consumption information. The real-time clock chip records current time. The communication between smart meter and system master station is achieved by the wireless communication module. The freescale micro controller unit displays power consumption information on screen. And the meter feedbacks the power consumption information to the system master station with time-scale and real-time electricity prices. It results that the information exchange between users and suppers can be realized by the smart meter. It fully reflects the demanding for communication of smart grid.
