Abstract: This paper focuses on several factors on the effects of fermented seaweed feed, and obtains the optimal fermentation process through the analysis of nutrients. Through the experiment we can get, Seaweed waste fermented the best feed when adding 1% of microbial agents and 0.5% of corn powder, fermenting for 15 days.

Physical and Chemical Properties of TiOxNy Prepared by Low-Temperature Oxidation of Ultrathin Metal Nitride Directly Deposited on SiO2

Abstract: Physical and chemical properties of titanium oxynitride (TiOxNy) formed by low-temperature oxidation of titanium nitride (TiN) layer are investigated for advanced metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) gate dielectric application. TiOxNy exhibits polycrystalline properties after the standard thermal process for MOS device fabrication, showing the preferred orientation at 200]. Superior electrical properties of TiOxNy can be maintained before and after the annealing, probably due to the nitrogen incorporation in the oxide bulk and at the interface. Naturally formed transition layer between TiOxNy and SiO2 is also confirmed.
Effects of Antennas and Propagation Channels on Synchronization Performance of a Pulse-Based Ultra-Wideband Radio System

Abstract: Synchronization performance of a pulse-based ultra-wideband (UWB) system is investigated by taking into account of distortions caused by transmitter and receiver antennas and wireless propagation channels in different environments. The synchronization scheme under consideration can be achieved in two steps: a slide correlator and a phase-locked loop (PLL)-like fine tuning loop. Effects of the non-idealities are evaluated by analyzing the distortion of the received UWB pulse and subsequently the synchronization performance of the pulse-based UWB system. It is found that generally a smaller step is required for the sliding correlator due to distortions introduced by the antennas and channels. However, the fine tuning loop can always be stabilized by adjusting the loop parameters. Therefore, synchronization can always be achieved.

Abstract: There are family enterprises everywhere in the world. In China, more than 80% of the enterprises run by private citizens take the family color because of the unique charm of the family enterprises---the powerful cohesiveness , the quickness in response, the low cost in mental contract. But after the initial success in competition, how to expand the business seems to be an insurmountable obstacle because of the different challenges and uncertainties. Then how to overcome this problem? The only way is to reform the system of family enterprises and introduce the system of the modern enterprises. Study on synchrony of two uncoupled neurons under the neuron’s membrane potential stimulation  [PDF]

Abstract: The input current of two uncoupled Hindmarsh-Rose neurons under different initial conditions is modulated by the membrane potential of the Hindmarsh- Rose neuron; and the synchronization characteristics of the two uncoupled neurons are discussed by analyzing their membrane potentials and their inter spike interval (ISI) distribution. Under the stimulation of the neuron’s membrane potential whose discharge pattern is period or the chaos, the two uncoupled neurons under different initial conditions, whose parameter r (the parameter r is related to the membrane penetration of calcium ion, and reflects the changing speed of the slow adaptation current) is different or the same, can realize the full synchronization (state synchronization) or discharge synchronization (phase synchronization), and can only be synchronized to the discharge pattern of the stimulation neuron. The synchronization characteristics are mainly related to the discharge pattern and the strength of the stimulation neuron’s membrane potential, and are little related to the parameter r and the initial state of the two uncoupled neurons. This investigation shows the characteristics of the neuron’s membrane potential affecting the synchronization process of neurons, and the neurons’ discharge patterns and synchronization process can be adjusted and controlled by the discharge pattern and the strength of the stimulation neuron’s membrane potential. This result is helpful to study synchronization and encode of many neurons or neural network.
Thymosin β4 promotes angiogenesis and increases muscle progenitor cell density in ischemic skeletal muscle in a mouse model of hind limb ischemia  [PDF]

Abstract: Aim: To determine the therapeutic effect of thy- mosin β4 (Tβ4) for treatment of ischemic limb disease in a mouse model. Methods: A mouse model of hindlimb ischemia was created by permanent ligation of femoral arteries and internal iliac artery. Tβ4 was dissolved in sterile saline and intramuscularly injected into the centre and periphery of ligation area in the treatment group (n = 10) starting from the surgery day until 4 weeks after surgery, while control animals received saline injection only (n = 9). All animals were sacrificed at 6 weeks after surgery and used for immunohistochemistry studies. Results: Tβ4 stimulated angiogenesis was evidenced by increased vascular density based on CD31 immunostaining, which was sig- nifycantly increased in Tβ4 group (562.5 ± 78.4/mm2) as compared with control group (371.1 ± 125.7/mm2; p < 0.05). The arteriole density based on CD31 and SMA dual immunostaining was similar between the Tβ4 (27.2 ± 16.9/mm2) and control (35.3 ± 6/mm2; p > 0.05) groups. Tβ4 increased Pax3/7+ skeletal muscle progenitor cell density. Pax3/7+ cell density of Tβ4 group (13.7% ± 2%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (4.3% ± 1.6%, p < 0.05). However, the numbers of central nuclei fiber and central nuclei per fiber were insignificantly increased in Tβ4 group as compared to control group. The numbers of central nuclei fiber were 8.9 ± 2.1 and 9.5 ± 1.6, and the central nuclei per fiber were 0.25 ± 0.07 and 0.48 ± 0.09 for control and Tβ4 groups, respectively. Conclusions: This preliminary study suggests that localized delivery of Tβ4 increased angiogenesis and skeletal muscle progenitor cell density in ischemic skeletal muscle, but failed to promote skeletal muscle regeneration.
Solar forced transient evolution of Pacific upper water thermal structure during the Holocene in an earth system model of intermediate complexity

Abstract: Forced by transient solar activities since 7 ka, the thermal structures of the Pacific upper water at boreal winter are featured by an enhanced response of 3-dimensional Western Pacific Warm Pool (WPWP) in an Earth system model of Intermediate Complexity at centennial scales. During solar maximum periods, the magnitude of surface ocean temperature variations is 30% larger in the western tropical Pacific than in the Ni o3 region, while at subsurface, it is 40% larger in the subtropical North Pacific than in the western Equatorial Pacific. They compromise stronger zonal and meridional thermal gradients in surface and subsurface Pacific respectively which are both linearly responded to solar forcing at centennial periods. The surface gradient is most sensitive at 208-year period while the subsurface gradient shows more significance at periods longer than 208-year. Also noteworthy are two differences: (1) the phase lags at these periods of surface gradient are slightly smaller than that of subsurface; (2) the 148-year and 102-year periods in surface gradient are lost in subsurface gradient. These modeled features preliminary confirm the centennial fluctuations of WPWP in paleo-proxies and a potential solar forcing during the Holocene.

Background: With the advent of DSCT, it is possible to image coronary plaque noninvasively. However, the accuracy of this method in terms of sensitivity and specificity has not been determined. Furthermore, noninvasive determination of plaque composition and plaque burden may be important for improving coronary risk stratification. Methods: Forty-six patients with known coronary artery disease underwent DSCT quantitative coronary angiography (QCA), and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) were included in the study. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of DSCT was calculated against QCA and IVUS. Plaque analysis software in a DSCT workstation was used to detect plaque characteristics associated with the Hounsfield unit (Hu) value compared with IVUS. Coronary artery plaques were classified into three types of lesions based on DSCT, and the relationship between different coronary lesions and clinical diagnosis was determined. Results: DSCT angiography was performed in 46 patients, and a diagnostic-quality CT image was obtained in 44 patients. Coronary angiography was performed in 138 vessels and IVUS in 102 vessels of all 46 patients. Sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV of DSCT compared with QCA was 100%, 98%, 92%, and 100%, respectively. The same corresponding index of DSCT compared with IVUS was 100%, 99%, 95%, and 100%, respectively. Quantitative coronary stenosis analysis revealed a good correlation between DSCT and QCA (r = 0.85, P < 0.05, 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.60–0.87). There was also a good correlation between DSCT and IVUS (r = 0.81, P < 0.05, 95% CI 0.56–0.82). In comparison with IVUS, DSCT predicted plaque characteristics more accurately. The coefficient correlation (r) of luminal cross-sectional area and external elastic membrane cross-sectional area between DSCT and IVUS was 0.82 (P < 0.01, CI 0.67–0.89) and 0.78 (P < 0.01, CI 0.67–0.86), respectively. Three different types of plaque were identified on IVUS. Fatty plaque had a 45 ± 14 Hu value, fibrous plaque 90 ± 20, and calcified plaque 530 ± 185, respectively, on DSCT. Abstract: The consumers may make complaints by diversified ways after dissatisfying purchases. Based on the questionnaire survey data from 2966 consumers in the industries of refrigerator, air conditioner and washing machine, the present study made a comparative research on complaint behavior by ANOVA. It was found that the voicing consumers exhibit significantly higher brand image perception, satisfaction and repurchase intention than those who make negative word-of-mouth or boycott. The cognitive psychological theories were then employed to explain the decision and influence of different types of complaint behavior. Thus, the enterprises should encourage the consumers to make voice.
