Causes of and Remedies for Chinglish in Chinese College Students’ Writings  [PDF]
Ping Wang, Weiping Wang
Open Journal of Modern Linguistics (OJML) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojml.2012.22009
Abstract: Based on Interlanguage Theory and other theories, this study examines data from samples of Chinese college students’ writings and interviews with the students to explore the causes of and remedies for Chinglish (a term used to refer English with Chinese characteristics). It claims that Chinglish is mainly caused by syntactic transfer from Chinese, the influence of Chinese thought patterns, inadequate exposure to authentic English and insufficient practice in English writing. The interviews with the students showed that the proportion of L1 thinking decreased with the writer’s L2 development. The recommended remedies for Chinglish include raising students’ awareness of distinctions between English and Chinese, increasing their exposure to authentic English and practice in English writing, and adjusting their thought patterns.
A Survey of Social Support and Coping Style in Middle School Female Teachers in China  [PDF]
Ping Wang, Qiong Dai
Creative Education (CE) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2011.23030
Abstract: Objective: It is hypothesized that social support and different coping style would make a difference in people’s health. This paper attempts to investigate social support and coping style in middle school female teachers in Wuhan, China. Methods: 1:2 case-control matched study. 300 female teachers as case group, 300 matched male teachers as control group 1 and another 300 matched female workers as another control group. Results: Female teachers got significantly lower score on positive coping and higher negative coping than male teachers. However, they got significantly higher score on positive coping and lower negative coping than female workers (P < 0.05 respectively). Female teachers scored significantly lower than male teachers but higher than female workers on total score of social support, objective and subjective support and utility degree of social support (P < 0.05 respectively). There were no significant differences between female teachers from senior and junior middle schools on coping style and social support (P > 0.05 respectively). The female teachers from key senior and junior middle schools got significantly higher score on positive coping style and social support than those from non-key middle schools (P < 0.05 respectively). There were no significant differences between female teachers on negative coping from key and non-key senior and junior middle schools (P > 0.05 respectively). The female teachers with a higher title and professional qualification got significantly lower score on negative coping and higher score on positive coping and social support than female teachers with a lower title and professional qualification and female workers (P < 0.05 respectively). The female teachers with master and bachelor degree got significantly lower score on negative coping and higher score on subjective support and utility degree of social support than those without a degree (P < 0.05 respectively). Conclusion: The impact of social support and coping style showed significant differences for female teachers of different school, professional and education level.

Management of Intelligent Campus Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Runtime Model  [PDF]
Ping Zhang, Jianzhong Wang
Journal of Computer and Communications (JCC) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jcc.2015.37003
Abstract: To quick customize and develop intelligent campus internet of things (ICIOT) system more efficiently, in this paper an approach based on runtime model to managing intelligent campus wireless sensor networks is proposed. Firstly, manageability of intelligent campus wireless sensors is abstracted as runtime models which automatically and immediately propagate any observable runtime changes of target resources to corresponding architecture models. Then, a composite model of intelligent campus wireless sensors is constructed through merging their runtime models in order to manage different kinds of devices in a unified way. Finally, a customized model is constructed according to the personalized management requirement and the synchronization between the customized model and the composite model is ensured through model transformation. Thus, all the management tasks can be carried through executing operating programs on the customized model. In the part of the teaching area schools conducted experiments and compared with the traditional method, this method can be more effective management of campus facilities, more energy efficient and orderly, which can reach a 16.7% energy saving.
Improved Research on Fuzzy Search over Encrypted Cloud Data Based on Keywords  [PDF]
Ping Zhang, Jianzhong Wang
Journal of Computer and Communications (JCC) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jcc.2015.39010
Abstract: A search strategy over encrypted cloud data based on keywords has been improved and has presented a method using different strategies on the client and the server to improve the search efficiency in this paper. The client uses the Chinese and English to achieve the synonym construction of the keywords, the establishment of the fuzzy-syllable words and synonyms set of keywords and the implementation of fuzzy search strategy over the encryption of cloud data based on keywords. The server side through the analysis of the user’s query request provides keywords for users to choose and topic words and secondary words are picked out. System will match topic words with historical inquiry in time order, and then the new query result of the request is directly gained. The analysis of the simulation experiment shows that the fuzzy search strategy can make better use of historical results on the basis of privacy protection for the realization of efficient data search, saving the search time and improving the efficiency of search.
Message Cab (MCab): Partition Restoration in MANETs Using Flexible Helping Hosts  [PDF]
Ting Wang, Chor Ping Low
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/wsn.2010.212107
Abstract: Helping hosts are intensively used in various schemes to restore partitioned Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs).Most of the existing schemes offers only deterministic deployment and fixed routes for the helping hosts, and are thus not able to deal with fluctuating network traffic, which is a practical condition in many MANET applications. In this paper, we argue that flexible helping hosts (referred to as Message Cabs (MCabs)), with deployment and routes that response to the changes in the traffic demand of the network, may overcome this drawback and reduce the message delay in the networks. To demonstrate the effectiveness of this observation, we propose a new helping host scheme namely the Message Cab (MCab) scheme for partition restoration in MANETs, and validate the performance through simulations.
Homogenization in elastodynamics with force term depending on time
Ping Wang
International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences , 2000, DOI: 10.1155/s0161171200002623
Abstract: We extend the study on the homogenization problem for an elastic material containing a distributed array of gas bubbles to the case when the body force depends on time. By technically constructing an approximating sequence, we are able to show the convergence of semigroups and therefore prove the main result that such spongy material can be approximated by an elastic material without holes in the elastodynamics with the force term depending on time.

Constructivism and Learner Autonomy in Foreign Language Teaching and Learning: To what Extent does Theory Inform Practice?
Ping Wang
Theory and Practice in Language Studies , 2011, DOI: 10.4304/tpls.1.3.273-277
Abstract: Teachers' definition of what knowledge is, how people acquire it, and how we determine whether knowledge has been acquired or not influence greatly how we understand the teacher’s role in the classroom and to what extent we promote learner autonomy in the classroom. Learner-centeredness is one of the most important principles of constructivist FLT. Thus, we could say to a great extent constructivism in education informs the promoting of learner autonomy in the language teaching and learning today.
