Efeito da altura do capim-Tanzania diferido nas características da pastagem no período do inverno

Abstract: O estudo foi desenvolvido no Município de Astorga, PR, na Fazenda Nossa Senhora de Aparecida, com o objetivo de avaliar as características da pastagem e o acúmulo de forragem em capim-Tanzania (Panicum maximum Jacq.), diferido e após pastejado no período de 23/07 a 18/09/1999, sob diferentes níveis de altura de pasto. O delineamento experimental usado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com duas repeti es. Os tratamentos foram quatro alturas de pasto: T1=20, T2=40, T3=60 e T4=80 cm. Entretanto, para a análise estatística, utilizaram-se as alturas reais de pasto mantidas nas unidades experimentais, sendo: T1R1 = 26,3, T1R2 = 24,6, T2R1 = 47,9, T2R2 = 42,5, T3R1 = 55,8, T3R2 = 61,7, T4R1 = 69,2 e T4R2 = 71,4 cm. Pode-se concluir que a altura de pasto aumenta de forma linear as massas de forragem e de colmos verdes. O acúmulo de forragem n o foi afetado pelas diferentes alturas de pasto.

Abstract: RESUMO - O experimento foi conduzido com objetivo de avaliar as perdas de forragem e a acumula o de liteira em uma pastagem de capim-Tanzania (Panicum maximum Jacq cv. Tanzania-1 ) manejada sob diferentes alturas. Os níveis de altura (tratamentos) estudados foram: 29,8; 32,0; 47,1; 51,5; 57,9; 62,7; 72,6 e 80,0 cm, em um delineamento completamente casualizado e com duas repeti es. As taxas de acúmulo e acumula o de liteira e as perdas de forragem foram iguais em todas as alturas. A porcentagem de forragem senescente foi influenciada de forma quadrática pelos níveis de altura. Os resultados indicam que foram altos os níveis de acumula o de liteira e as perdas de forragem, em média, 38,9 kg/ha/dia de MS e 2179 kg/ha de MS, respectivamente. Devido à possibilidade de se reduzirem a persistência da pastagem e a modifica o da estrutura das plantas, recomenda-se n o utilizar pastagens de capim-Tanzania em alturas próximas ou iguais a 20 e 80 cm, sob lota es contínuas.
The Paradox of Feline Coronavirus Pathogenesis: A Review

Abstract: Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is an enveloped single-stranded RNA virus, of the family Coronaviridae and the order Nidovirales. FCoV is an important pathogen of wild and domestic cats and can cause a mild or apparently symptomless enteric infection, especially in kittens. FCoV is also associated with a lethal, systemic disease known as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). Although the precise cause of FIP pathogenesis remains unclear, some hypotheses have been suggested. In this review we present results from different FCoV studies and attempt to elucidate existing theories on the pathogenesis of FCoV infection. 1. Introduction Feline coronavirus (FCoV) belongs to the family Coronaviridae and the order Nidovirales [1] and affects both wild and domestic cats [2]. FCoV contains a positive polarity RNA genome approximately 29?kb in length, consisting of 11 open reading frames (ORFs). Two major ORFs encode a replicase, four ORFs encode the structural proteins S (spike), E (envelope), M (membrane), and N (nucleocapsid), and five ORFs encode the nonstructural proteins 3a, 3b, 3c, 7a, and 7b [3]. FCoV can cause a mild or sometimes apparently symptomless enteric infection, especially in kittens, and is also associated with a lethal, systemic disease known as feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) [4, 5]. FIP is characterized by fibrinous, granulomatous serositis, with protein-rich effusions in the body cavities of affected cats (effusive or “wet” FIP), as well as granulomatous-necrotizing lesions, periphlebitis and granulomatous inflammatory lesions in several organs, especially, liver, kidney, spleen, leptomeninges, and eyes (noneffusive or “dry” FIP) [6]. Although the precise cause of FIP pathogenesis is still unknown, several hypotheses have been suggested. One assumption is that a mutant FCoV strain is able to infect monocytes and macrophages, leading to FIP [7–9]. This mutant virus strain has been named feline infectious peritonitis virus (FIPV), whereas the strain that causes enteric infection was named feline enteric coronavirus (FECV) [7, 10–12]. Because FIPV and FECV cannot be distinguished by their antigenicity, or even by genome sequence analysis, they are considered to be two, distinctly different pathotypes, which differ only in their pathogenicity [11, 12]. In fact, although this hypothesis is known as the internal mutation theory, no specific mutation has been identified in the 29?kb FCoV genome [13]. Abstract: the effect of different sward heights (24, 26, 43, 45, 52, 62, 73 and 78 cm) and different sampling periods (28, 56, 84 days), on basal and aerial tiller density, weight and diameter of basal tillers, leaf area index (lai), meristem apical height, node number and internode length basal tiller in tanzaniagrass (panicum maximum jacq. cv. tanzania - 1) is provided. nelore steers were used in grazing, with variable stocking rates, using put and take techniques. the experimental design was completely randomized, with two replications. aerial tiller density, weight, diameter, node number and internode length basal tiller, apical meristem height and leaf area index increased according to the higher sward management height. basal tillering was not affected by sward management heights, but decreased during the experiment. aerial tiller had a similar behavior. node number, internode length, apical meristem height and lai had a negative quadratic behavior, according to the sample collection period.

Abstract: the experiment was conducted to evaluate, the forage losses and litter accumulation, in a pasture of tanzania grass (panicum maximun jacq cv. tanzania) managed in different sward height levels. the studied levels of sward heights (treatments) were: 29.8, 32.0, 47.1, 51.5, 57.9, 62.7, 72.6 and 80.0 cm, in a completely randomized design and two replications. the litter accumulation rate, litter accumulation and forage losses were similar in all heights. the percentage of senescent forage in the plant canopy was influenced on a quadratic way by the sward height levels. the results show that the litter accumulation and forage losses were high, with average dm of 38.9 kg/ha.day and 2179 kg/ha of dm, respectively. due to the possibility to reduce the pasture persistence and plant structure deteriorate, it is not recommended to utilize tanzania grass pastures, in levels sward height near or equal of 20 and 80 cm, under continuous stocking rate.

Abstract: the study was carried out in the county of astorga, pr, brazil, in the nossa senhora de aparecida farm. the objective was to study the sward characteristics and forage accumulation of tanzania grass, deferred and after grazed from 07/23 to 09/18/1999, under different sward height levels. the experimental design was a completely randommized, with two replications. the treatments were four levels of sward height: t1=20, t2=40, t3=60 and t4=80 cm. however, the true sward height levels were used for analysis statistics; t1r1=26,3, t1r2=24,6, t2r1=47,9, t2r2=42,5, t3r1=55,8, t3r2=61,7, t4r1=69,2 e t4r2=71,4 cm. results indicate that: forage mass and green culm mass increased of the positive linear way with increased of sward height. there was no effect of sward height levels on the forage accumulation.

Abstract: The present paper aims to define the seminal parts in the generation theory in Pierre-Louis Moreau de Maupertuis’s System of nature as Leibnizian physical monads of a special type, organic monads, whose main characteristics are: 1) uniting, within the same explanatory system, epigenesis and preformation, following from an interpretation where initial conditions for epigenesis are a homogenous, non-organic seminal matter; 2) having psychic properties which give them a preformational character, allowing seminal parts to display a combination of material and representational morphologies, elaborated from a distinction between the substantial and relational character of chemical affinities proposed by Fran?ois-Geoffroy; 3) bringing, through the previous two characteristics, the System of nature to intelligibly express preexistence, a concept present in Maupertuis’ conjectures on the origins of the first organisms, where to a strongly naturalistic scenario, a supernatural cause is added—one consistent, within limits, with the natural indestructibility of the physical monad within a panspermic reading of the original Leibnizian monadology. Together, these characteristics allow us to define Maupertuis’s generation theory as an organic monadology, capable of expressing itself in other components of the modern sciences of life and the organic, revealing a historical continuity for the heuristics of Leibniz’s natural philosophy.
The Pestalozzi Method: Mathematics as a Way to the Truth  [PDF]

Abstract: Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746-1827), the father of modern pedagogy (Soetard, 1985), dedicated his life to the pursuit of truth for mankind. This quest considered the education and teaching of children as a whole hence, his famous formula of “head, heart, and hands” was conceived not just as a slogan but, particularly, as a concept of comprehensive education. But how do you get to the truth behind education and teaching? How do you teach and educate children? What method ought to be used for this task? Pestalozzi wrote five volumes on his own Method (in Germany), which were later translated into French, and in these, he aimed to address the three questions mentioned above. Ever since the first attempt to explain the Pestalozzi Method, by Marc Antoine JULLIEN in his work Spirit of the Method of Pestalozzi education (Esprit de la Méthode d’éducation de Pestalozzi) (1812), followed by Daniel Alexandre CHAVANNES in his Elemental Method of H. Pestalozzi (Méthode élémentaire de H. Pestalozzi) (1819) and the works of Soetard (1994) and Throler (2008), many of the Method’s concepts have been discussed and defended. However, the various authors do not appear to have settled on a common ground. Nevertheless, this article aims to offer a reflection on the subject based on a reading and analysis of the texts by Pestalozzi that were translated into French. It will attempt to defend the argument that Pestalozzi appropriated the inductive Method of Locke and Comenios who, like himself, were protestants, and whose methodological resources for finding the “Truth” through both education and teaching involved geometry and mathematics; these were elements that Pestalozzi considered useful for approaching and identifying truth and accuracy.

Abstract: this article highlights aspects of the role playing game (rpg), which make an important procedure in terms of research on qualitative research in distance education (in this case, mathematics education). this game was used in a research (rosa, 2008) that studied the relations between the construction of online identities and teaching and learning of the concept of definite integral (concept of differential and integral calculus) in a distance course. thus, from this investigation that used the rpg (which was played from distance, through chat) as the procedure of data collection, we discuss the inclusion of this game as a methodological procedure of research in distance mathematics education and we characterize how this process connects to qualitative research issues in this new scenario: cyberspace. therefore, we assume that to adopt the rpg as a research procedure favors both the researcher and the subjects investigated in terms of showing themselves as "different" even though "the same" (rosa, 2008) and this enhances the production of mathematical knowledge as well as the analysis of actions and educational possibilities glimpsed by being online that presents itself in the natural environment presented. also, we point to the adoption of the rpg as a factor that pushes and extends the poststructuralist conception of education which, in virtual environments, are increasingly emphasizing and establishing a range of research that makes this amazing and imaginative space a natural environment research.
