Backward Induction versus Forward Induction Reasoning
Andres Perea
Games , 2010, DOI: 10.3390/g1030168
Abstract: In this paper we want to shed some light on what we mean by backward induction and forward induction reasoning in dynamic games. To that purpose, we take the concepts of common belief in future rationality (Perea [1]) and extensive form rationalizability (Pearce [2], Battigalli [3], Battigalli and Siniscalchi [4]) as possible representatives for backward induction and forward induction reasoning. We compare both concepts on a conceptual, epistemic and an algorithm level, thereby highlighting some of the crucial differences between backward and forward induction reasoning in dynamic games.
Perea,Daniel;
Ameghiniana , 2005,
Abstract: a species of glyptodontid, pseudoplohophorus absolutus n. sp. from the upper miocene of uruguay is described. the holotype is represented by skull, mandible, great part of dorsal and cephalic carapace, caudal tube, humerus, hand bones, some vertebrae, and fragmentary pelvis and caudal ring plates. these materials were compared with very complete specimens of neogene sclerocalyptinae from argentina and uruguay. on the basis of these comparisons the partial synonymy between pseudoplohophorus castellanos and stromaphoropsis kraglievich, and the inclusion of genus hoplophractus cabrera within eosclerocalyptyus c. ameghino are proposed. a biozone characterized by pseudoplohophorus , included in camacho formation deposits, is redefined.

Abstract: Goldwork welding techniques appear for the first time in the Iberian Peninsula during Final Bronze Age. But it is not till the Orientalizing period that welding is applied to granulation and filigree work. The complexity of these techniques require a microscopic and microanalytical study in order to find out its nature. This study was made by means of a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) with an Energy Dispersive System (EDS) microanalysis unit. The reasons for the choice of this equipment were the versatility and viriety of information the SEM is able to obtain. So, we had the opportunity to examine other fabrication processes in the image mode of the SEM as well as wear and corrosion signs not visible with optical instruments. This study was basically aimed at the avoidance of drawing general conclusions on incomplete results based on a very limited amount of non-representative samples. Over 60 items have been studied coming from several sites in the southern Iberian Peninsula, and belonging to the Archaeological Museums of Sevilla, Cádiz and National of Madrid. In all, the samples cover a lapse of time extending from Early Chalcolithic to the Iberían period, but most samples belong to the Orientalizing and Iberian periods. The conclusions obtained have made possible to determine the characteristics of the Cadiz workshop and the identification of another two workshops in Extremadura and Andalusia.
Identitarian and power construction strategies during the Bronze Age-Iron Age transition
Perea, Alicia
Trabajos de Prehistoria , 2005,
Abstract: We put forward a long term explanatory model to account for a series of gold finds all along the Iberian Peninsula Atlantic seaboard during the Bronze Age and the Bronze Age-Iron Age transition, a phenomenon of a unique dimension in the european panorama of the prehistoric gold production. The case study is three different forms of hoarding: hoards containing spirals or chains of spirals; hoards containing torcs of the Sagrajas/Berzocana type; and hoards with Villena/Estremoz type bracelets. We analyse some aspects of the production, distribution and consumption of the stated gold material, mainly those referring to manufacturing processes and knowledge transmission phenomena, which has allowed us to characterise different technological domain systems and to define how they interact at the time when a third technological domain appears in scene. Finally we propose a diachronic frame of relations between the three domain systems.

Subtle Increases in Interletter Spacing Facilitate the Encoding of Words during Normal Reading
Manuel Perea, Pablo Gomez
PLOS ONE , 2012, DOI: 10.1371/journal.pone.0047568
Abstract: Background Several recent studies have revealed that words presented with a small increase in interletter spacing are identified faster than words presented with the default interletter spacing (i.e., w a t e r faster than water). Modeling work has shown that this advantage occurs at an early encoding level. Given the implications of this finding for the ease of reading in the new digital era, here we examined whether the beneficial effect of small increases in interletter spacing can be generalized to a normal reading situation. Methodology We conducted an experiment in which the participant’s eyes were monitored when reading sentences varying in interletter spacing: i) sentences were presented with the default (0.0) interletter spacing; ii) sentences presented with a +1.0 interletter spacing; and iii) sentences presented with a +1.5 interletter spacing. Principal Findings Results showed shorter fixation duration times as an inverse function of interletter spacing (i.e., fixation durations were briefest with +1.5 spacing and slowest with the default spacing). Conclusions Subtle increases in interletter spacing facilitate the encoding of the fixated word during normal reading. Thus, interletter spacing is a parameter that may affect the ease of reading, and it could be adjustable in future implementations of e-book readers.
SMS: Impacto social y cognitivo
Alonso,Elena; Perea,Manuel;
Escritos de Psicología (Internet) , 2008,
Abstract: the growing use of mobile text messages (hereinafter sms) has given place to a debate on the social impact and the psychological effects of this new mass media. in the recent years the massive use of mobiles and internet has generated a new way of communication based on the abbreviated use of language. in this work we examine the role of sms as an effective tool of communication in the way of establishing social relationships among young individuals. furthermore we examine the reading cognitive cost of sms; and derived from this analysis and the content of the sms sentences we extract two conclusions. the first one is that sms language is economical enough to transfer relevant information using the abbreviated language even though it implies a reading cost, the second conclusion is that sms language implies a socio-cultural aspect worthy to be reflected on.
Perea Restrepo,Carlos Mario;
Colombia Internacional , 2006,
Abstract: two recent forces validate and construct old notions of community. one is the ancestral tradition that turns the community into a cultural value that belongs to the people.to people,the community operates as a collective"i"that mobilizes all sorts of energies.the other is the community’s presence in both modern social thought and in state discourse set on confronting popular demands.the first force is based on social and political utopias, and the second force is a governability referent. can the community play a role in the urban popular resistance movement, at the crossing of these two forces?.

Abstract: card bibliographical catalogue or online catalogue - the latter also known as online public access catalogue - have been designed to better organize and fortify the archived items in a library. meeting the needs of library consultant in the search for information is the goal of the construction of such databases. for many users, the initial objective for the creation of these softwares, do not share the capacity of adjustment with the new systems for presenting the information after the search. there is, in the market database, a range of software that would support the latent necessities as well as those shown by users of those catalogs, for remote and local searches. the purpose of this article is to show new anthologies, different presentation formats and to point out the real needs of information required by the user in his/her searches.
