Subjetividade midiática: tempo e memória no discurso das biografias contemporaneas
Pena, Felipe;
Psicologia Clínica , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-56652007000100004
Abstract: the goal of this article is to propose an analysis regarding the concepts of time and memory (as mentioned by elias and derrida) in the constitution of subjectivity produced by contemporary biographical discourse. our hypothesis is that biographies are constructed every day in the media, producing celebrities that influence in identity arrangement. we follow pierre bourdieu's conclusions, for which these identities are subscribed through what he calls biographical illusion, "the one that takes a life story as a sequence of facts with meaning and direction".
Twisted mass QCD for weak matrix elements
Carlos Pena
Physics , 2006,
Abstract: I report on the application of tmQCD techniques to the computation of hadronic matrix elements of four-fermion operators. Emphasis is put on the computation of $B_K$ in quenched QCD performed by the ALPHA Collaboration. The extension of tmQCD strategies to the study of neutral $B$-meson mixing is briefly discussed. Finally, some remarks are made concerning proposals to apply tmQCD to the computation of $K\to\pi\pi$ amplitudes.
Corpo e psique: da dissocia??o à unifica??o - algumas implica??es na prática pedagógica
Pereira, Lucia Helena Pena;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022008000100011
Abstract: the objective of this work is to analyze the body/psyche unity and the hindrance to personal expression that arises from the dissociation of these two dimensions, complicating professional activities and life itself. the education of a teacher requires more than just the acquisition of contents and teaching techniques. more profound changes in the pedagogical practice entail a change of attitude from educators, a new stance before life and education, and not merely a cognitive change with the acquisition of knowledge, but also emotional, bodily and spiritual changes, learning to integrate the various dimensions of the human being. it is necessary to know how to overcome or minimize barriers that life imposed as protections, as shown by the works of wilhelm reich and his followers - alexander lowen, stanley keleman and david boadella -, which constitute the theoretical background for the present study. it is necessary to know how to create opportunities to transform patterns acquired in the academic formation, which eventually congeal, as disclosed by the psychological investigations considered here. one possible way to do that is through expressive activities, such as ludic activities and art-education. relations are constituted in the social environment; the process of growth takes place in the contact with the other, in the perception of the differences, in accepting the multiplicity of thinking, in evaluating one's own doings. the theories considered here are meaningful for the studies in the field of education insofar as they point to the possibility of a new outlook on the classroom practices and the relations established therein.
Competências no trabalho: uma análise da produ??o científica brasileira
Brand?o, Hugo Pena;
Estudos de Psicologia (Natal) , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-294X2007000200007
Abstract: this paper aimed to review the brazilian scientific studies on competencies at work that were published between 1996 and 2004 in important brazilian journals from the areas of psychology and business administration. empirical studies on the subject were identified and systematically analyzed, characterizing these inquiries, the theoretical approaches adopted by the authors, their intentions and methodological options used, the instruments of data collection and the procedures of analysis, among other aspects. problems and limitations of the inquiries were discussed, aiming to disclose gaps and relevant questions for study, as well as presenting recommendations on research strategies. it has been evidenced the predominance of studies that attempted to identify relevant competencies to some occupational positions, as well as those that examined the contribution of learning processes for the development of competencies. considering the lack of empirical inquiries on this subject, an agenda for future research is suggested in the end.
O relato de caso como situa??o gnosiológica: reflex?es sobre a prática diagnóstica em patologia a partir de um caso de abetalipoproteinemia
Pena, Gil Patrus Mundim;
Revista Brasileira de Educa??o Médica , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-55022010000400019
Abstract: this article draws on a rare case of abetalipoproteinemia, diagnosed from the pathological findings of a jejunal biopsy, as the point of departure for reflecting on practice in diagnostic pathology. rather than present a case and comment on its content, as usually happens in case reports, the case, as object of study, can be used as material for reflection on practice. the case is the mediating object of reflection on the practice, allowing an unveiling of reality in which medical practice is a part
árvores Conceptuais: Uma reconstru??o multidimensional dos conceitos de ac??o e de estrutura
Pires,Rui Pena;
Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas , 2007,
Abstract: in contrast to the negative tendency for hyper-differentiation in theoretical sociology, i propose the reconstruction of the concepts of social action and social structure in a multidimensional perspective, transforming some of the competing meanings of these concepts in complementary analytical dimensions. for this, i draw a "generative" conceptual tree based on a common starting point (social order), branching in two segments that correspond to two different ontological categories (action and structure), and further branched through chains of logical presupposition. on the second branching level, i distinguish between rational and interpretative actions on one hand, and between external and internal structure on the other, and the process is repeated for two more levels. in total, i identify eight analytical dimensions both in the action and in the structure branches.
Mudan?as na imigra??o: uma análise das estatísticas sobre a popula??o estrangeira em Portugal, 1998-2001
Pires,Rui Pena;
Sociologia, Problemas e Práticas , 2002,
Abstract: the statistical data on the recent increase in immigration that has resulted from both the emergence of new flows (eastern europe) and the intensification of the traditional ones (portuguese-speaking countries in africa, and above all brazil) are analysed in the light of the fact that portugal is currently one of the european countries with the lowest percentage of foreigners among its resident population and at the same time the greatest exhaustion of the reserves of labour power in its domestic employment market.
ética y estrategia en un marco teórico referencial de la ética de negocios
Pena, Roberto Patrus Mundim;
Revista de Administra??o Contemporanea , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-65552004000500012
Abstract: in this article we define business ethics as an academic discipline that studies business from an ethical point of view. as such, it requires an integrated relationship between its two components: ethics and the company. as a result of the multiplicity of the concept strategy, we establish as a common ground for some of these definitions: the organization's search for adaptation to its environment. in order to understand the role of this concept of strategy in a theoretical framework of business ethics, we begin with the presentation of two reductionisms to which business ethics falls victim. then we propose, in light of lozano's model (1999), a triple conceptual theoretical framework for business ethics. from this approach we seek to demonstrate that if on the one hand a company's strategic management is forced to consider ethics as a requirement of organized civil society, on the other, strategic management, sensitive to society's demands for respect for customers, the environment and the quality of its products and services, does not exhaust the whole of what we call business ethics. the relationship between ethics and strategy must be the focus of an important question: is this relationship an organizational strategy that involves ethics or is it organizational ethics that involves strategy? in the realm of well-articulated business ethics we believe only the second option should be accepted.
Population structure and recruitment of penaeid shrimps in mozambique
A Brito, A Pena
Western Indian Ocean Journal of Marine Science , 2008,
Abstract: This study characterizes the population structure and identifies nursery areas and recruitment seasons of penaeid shrimps in the Pungué river estuary of Mozambique. Shrimp samples were obtained from 12 trawl stations at monthly intervals during 2004. Six species were found, two of which (Fenneropenaeus indicus and Metapenaeus monoceros) constituted 99% in numbers of the total. Both had a size distribution of 10-50 mm carapace length. Males represented the dominant sex in both species. The estuary is important in their life cycles in supporting large numbers of juveniles. M. monoceros juveniles were abundant in all sections of the estuary during the latter part of the rainy season. F. indicus, juveniles were in lower proportion than adults throughout the estuary, but increased in abundance over the rain season. Recruits migrating from the estuary reach adjacent industrial fishing areas after 1-2 months. It is confirmed that the current annual seasonal closure (November-March) of the entire Sofala Bank is adequate for the protection of juveniles in the estuary. Given the contribution of this estuary to the entire shrimp fishing industry of the Sofala Bank there is a need to strengthen enforcement of management regulations.
Quantum mechanical model for J/psi suppression in the LHC era
Pena, C.;Blaschke, D.
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2013,
Abstract: We discuss the interplay of screening, absorption and regeneration effects, on the quantum mechanical evolution of quarkonia states, within a time-dependent harmonic oscillator (THO) model with complex oscillator strength. We compare the results with data for R_AA/R_AA(CNM) from CERN and RHIC experiments. In the absence of a measurement of cold nuclear matter (CNM) effects at LHC we estimate their role and interpret the recent data from the ALICE experiment. We also discuss the temperature dependence of the real and imaginary parts of the oscillator frequency which stand for screening and absorption/regeneration, respectively. We point out that a structure in the J/psi suppression pattern for In-In collisions at SPS is possibly related to the recently found X(3872) state in the charmonium spectrum. Theoretical support for this hypothesis comes from the cluster expansion of the plasma Hamiltonian for heavy quarkonia in a strongly correlated medium.
