REDVET , 2009,
SummaryWith the objective to evaluate the development of Moina sp fed withmicroalgae cultured in the waste water from the fishing industry anexperimental completely completely randomized design was made with twotreatments and three repetition each one. Recipients with 500 mL volume filled with tap water enriched with lime hydroxide. In each one 130 Moina sp individuals were seeded. In the feeding of Moina was used microalgae Scenedesmus sp in two concentrations (A) 650 cel/mm3 and (B) 1 300 cel/mm3. Significant statistical differences (p>0, 05) between the applied treatments were not observed. The density of zooplankton increased up to 3.0 org/mL in both treatments and the yield were of 0, 4 and 0, 3 org/mL.d and a duplication time of 2,7 and 3,3 days respectively.

Acta zoológica mexicana , 2009,
Abstract: the females of phyllophaga obsoleta (blanchard) (coleoptera: melolonthidae) have a great agricultural importance in mexico. they display a "sexual calling" behavior, that expose a bag-like structure on the abdominal tip, wich causes them to attract the males. the content of this structure has been extracted and confirmed his biological activity by wind tunnel and electroantenography bioessays. nevertheless, their morphologic characteristics have not been studied yet. for that reason in the present study, the p. obsoleta abdominal terminalia were characterized morphologically and protrusion-retraction mechanism of bag-like structure was studied. longitudinal dissections of the abdominal terminalia were analyzed with stereoscopic microscopy. the bag-like structure is the protractile genital chamber (pgc) of melolonthidae females and its protrusion and retraction is related to the activity of lateral sterno-sacular muscles with ventral sterno-sacular muscles, as well as for intersegmental membranes viii and ix. they should be involucrated in protrusion and retraction pgc mechanisms.

Molecules , 2010, DOI: 10.3390/molecules15074610
Abstract: It was only relatively recently discovered that nucleic acids participate in a variety of biological functions, besides the storage and transmission of genetic information. Quite apart from the nucleotide sequence, it is now clear that the structure of a nucleic acid plays an essential role in its functionality, enabling catalysis and specific binding reactions. In vitro selection and evolution strategies have been extremely useful in the analysis of functional RNA and DNA molecules, helping to expand our knowledge of their functional repertoire and to identify and optimize DNA and RNA molecules with potential therapeutic and diagnostic applications. The great progress made in this field has prompted the development of ex vivo methods for selecting functional nucleic acids in the cellular environment. This review summarizes the most important and most recent applications of in vitro and ex vivo selection strategies aimed at exploring the therapeutic potential of nucleic acids.

BMC Genomics , 2011, DOI: 10.1186/1471-2164-12-64
Abstract: This report presents the new bioinformatic tool AgiMicroRNA for the pre-processing and differential expression analysis of Agilent microRNA array data. The software is implemented in the open-source statistical scripting language R and is integrated in the Bioconductor project (http://www.bioconductor.org webcite) under the GPL license. For the pre-processing of the microRNA signal, AgiMicroRNA incorporates the robust multiarray average algorithm, a method that produces a summary measure of the microRNA expression using a linear model that takes into account the probe affinity effect. To obtain a normalized microRNA signal useful for the statistical analysis, AgiMicroRna offers the possibility of employing either the processed signal estimated by the robust multiarray average algorithm or the processed signal produced by the Agilent image analysis software. The AgiMicroRNA package also incorporates different graphical utilities to assess the quality of the data. AgiMicroRna uses the linear model features implemented in the limma package to assess the differential expression between different experimental conditions and provides links to the miRBase for those microRNAs that have been declared as significant in the statistical analysis.AgiMicroRna is a rational collection of Bioconductor functions that have been wrapped into specific functions in order to ease and systematize the pre-processing and statistical analysis of Agilent microRNA data. The development of this package contributes to the Bioconductor project filling the gap in microRNA array data analysis.MicroRNAs are a family of small single-stranded non-coding RNAs which regulate gene expression [1]. Functional studies show that microRNAs participate in virtually every cellular process investigated, and changes in their expression might underlie many human diseases [2]. One of the commercial microarrays for microRNA profiling has been developed by Agilent Technologies. Agilent microarrays use a single-color
