Abstract: the relations between postmodernity and education have been the object of countless researches, and also of some controversy within the philosophy of education, starting with the very conception of postmodernity and extending to the philosophical positions it engenders. in almost every research and controversy, jean-fran?ois lyotard's the postmodern condition figures as an important reference, although his subsequent works are seldom mentioned, thereby leaving part of his philosophical legacy outside such discussions and, in particular, of his resulting contributions to education. in view of the current state of these studies, the present article seeks to develop an interpretation of the lyotardian thought more strongly focused on the analysis of the works he published after his controversial book, with the purpose of placing his philosophical project beyond a landmark of postmodernity, and of discussing his contributions to the current philosophy of education. such interpretation rescues a philosophical project that places before today's philosophy of education "challenges" concerning the move of its epistemological problems to the sphere of aesthetics, nurtured by a thinking capable of illuminating the complex and obscure face of education, its inhuman shadow, and the constitutive contention of teaching, inapprehensible by language and communication. we thus hope that such project can be understood not for the controversy it brings to the philosophy of education, but for the current challenges put to the latter as a rewriting of modernity.

Abstract: This essay aims to analyze the relationship between life and school. In opposition totheoretical perspectives longed for a possible reconciliation between life and school, we look for toshow to existing tension between these two spheres, making an analysis of the themes of theexperience with birth, death and the difference, and highlight that this reflection invites the subjectsof the educational practice to an ethical attitude of care for the other, for oneself and so that theother one takes care of the care of the self. Having the thoughts of Arendt’s and Foucault’s asreference, we understand that life goes beyond school knowledge and practices, offering us what wethink about educational practice and making the subjects of that practice learn how to placethemselves between life and school, looking for new senses for themselves and resistance to theexistent while they transform themselves. Thus, we wait to offer the educators some life problemsthat pervade the educational practice, reverberate in their experience and make them think aboutwhat they have left.

Abstract: Este artigo aborda as rela es entre a filosofia e a educa o no pensamento de Theodor Adorno. A partir da reflex o elaborada pelo frankfurtiano acerca da rela o entre teoria e práxis, procuramos compreender o papel político conferido às suas concep es de filosofia e de forma o humana e discutir os seus limites e possibilidades no presente. Para tanto, elegemos como objeto de análise as conferências pronunciadas pelo autor e os artigos que escreveu sobre o assunto, entre 1959 e 1969, com o objetivo de recuperar os possíveis nexos teóricos entre filosofia e educa o em sua obra e o significado que seu pensamento crítico e sua concep o de educa o política assumiram nesse contexto; e de discutir sua eventual atualidade. Pretendemos, assim, reconstituir a reflex o de Adorno sobre o tema, compreendendo o seu significado em seu projeto filosófico, de modo a vislumbrar a face filosófica educacional de seu pensamento crítico. This article discusses the relationship between philosophy and education in Theodor Adorno's ideas. From the reflection about the relation between theory and praxis in his thoughts, we seek to understand the political role within his conceptions of philosophy and human formation and discuss limits and possibilities in the present. To this end, we selected for our object of analysis the conferences given by the author and articles he wrote on the subject, between 1959 and 1969, so as to recover the possible nexus between philosophy and theoretical education in his work, the meaning that his critical thinking and his conception of political education has taken in this context and to discuss how relevant this is nowadays. We therefore intend to reconstitute Adorno's reflection on the topicand understand its meaning in his philosophical project in order to see the educational philosophical aspect in his critical thinking.

Abstract: Este artigo apresenta os resultados parciais da pesquisa Democracia, Pragmatismo e Escola Nova no Brasil (em andamento). Descreve brevemente o cenário histórico e educacional em que o movimento Escola Nova se encontra, na ocasi o em que os temas filosófico-educacionais ganham proje o na Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos e na Educa o e Ciências Sociais. Focaliza os temas filosófico-educacionais presentes nos debates travados nesses periódicos e discute a rela o entre filosofia e ciência, supondo-a como central para a compreens o das formas de apropria o do pragmatismo, para sustentar a concep o de democracia e para oferecer um sentido democrático à concep o escolanovista de educa o, durante os anos 1950 e 1960. Recorremos a uma revis o preliminar da literatura sobre o assunto, focalizamos as rela es que s o estabelecidas entre a Escola Nova e o Pragmatismo e como autores como J. Roberto Moreira e Jayme Abreu se apropriam desta corrente da filosofia para tratar da educa o no período.

Abstract: Models for the study of computational fluid dynamics in vehicles to determine aerodynamic loads usually take into account only the geometry of the body. Several constructive elements such as the wheel geometry or suspension components are disregarded in the computational models. This work presents the study of the aerodynamics of a one-fourth model passenger vehicle, which contains the wheelhouse interior elements. The goal is to identify the aerodynamic loads produced by these components and their effect on the flow dynamics. Wheel and tire set, brake components, suspension and drive shaft are contemplated. Computer simulations were performed to the vehicle speed varying from 0 to 120 km/h and included the rotation of the tire and wheel assembly, considering the tire geometry in dynamic conditions. The computational model is solved by the finite volume method, wherein the computational domain is divided into tetrahedral and hexahedral elements. The turbulence model used is the standard k ε.
The Epidemiology and Clinical Manifestations of Dysexecutive Syndrome in Parkinson’s Disease

Abstract: This mini-review summarizes the evidence of the cognitive and behavioral features of dysexecutive syndrome in Parkinson’s disease (PD). Deficits in response inhibition, set-shifting, mental flexibility, and strategy have been frequently described from the earliest stages of PD, although there are inconsistencies in study findings due to the complexity of the executive function (EF) construct and methodological limitations. Behavioral disorders of PD, e.g., apathy, distractibility, perseverative behavior, and impulse-control disorders, may be viewed as the other side of dysexecutive syndrome. Despite the interrelationship between the cognitive and behavioral domains, some reports reveal that the two syndromes may be dissociated, suggesting that both aspects must be clinically assessed. EFs are widely associated with the prefrontal areas, although dysexecutive syndrome may be observed in patients with damage to other brain regions. EFs drive numerous abilities essential to daily life, such as prospective remembering and language comprehension, which may be impaired in PD subjects. Considering the impact of dysexecutive syndrome on independence and quality of life, early detection of executive impairment is crucial in the management of PD.

Avifauna do Parque Estadual de Vila Rica do Espírito Santo, Fênix, Paraná

Abstract: the avifauna of vila rica do espírito santo state park (pv) was studied from 1982 until 2007 in order to obtain the bird species composition. this protected area is located in in fênix, a parana state municipality that is inserted in a region whose landscape is a mosaic of patches of semideciduous forest and extensive areas of grain crops, sugar cane and pasture. it has an area of 354 ha covered mostly by second growth with mature characteristics and some places with primary sucession. the inventory was conducted using the methods of visual and aural recognition of bird species together captures with mist nets, during four periods. first, in 1982 with one expedition, the second period with 40 field expeditions between 1986 and 1999 and the third and fourth periods conducted respectively, from 2002 to 2003 and 2006, totaling in more 16 expeditions. this research has results in the record of 259 species of birds belonging to 55 families and 22 orders. the predominance of species of the passeriformes order and suboscines suborder suggests that the bird assemblage of the pv is characterized by forest elements. this environment is the most representative in the study area and has the largest number of species, 189 species, which are branches species (164 spp.), trunk species (14 spp.) and ground species (11 spp.). the pv has 14 endangered species and high species richness and this way present an important role on the regional landscape as a protected area. this landscape composed by some patches is fundamental to maintenance of local diversity, especially when these forest are protected in some way, as the case vila rica do espírito santo state park which is a protected area with restricted use.
Shelf life of peaches treated with 1-methylcyclopropene

Abstract: peaches [prunus persica (l.) bastch] present reduced post-harvest shelf life, partially, due to their high respiratory rate and fast ripening. these processes are related to ethylene production, as well as its action. peaches, cv. aurora-1, were picked at two different ripening stages (mature green and ripe) and treated with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-mcp), the ethylene's competitive antagonist, at concentrations of 0, 100, 300 and 900 nl l-1 for 12 hours at 25oc. after treatment, the fruits were stored at room temperature (25oc) for six days. fruits treated with 1-mcp presented better firmness and less ground color loss than non-treated fruits. the 1-mcp antagonist reduced the development of fruit rot at the mature green stage, but not at the ripe one. the 1-mcp shows commercial application potential in the treatment of peaches in order to delay the ripening process and increase their shelf life.
