ESTUDIO DE LA SINERGIA CORROSIóN-EROSIóN DE RECUBRIMIENTOS DUROS DE TiN Y CrN OBTENIDOS SOBRE ACERO AISI 1045
HARVEY PAYáN,WILLIAM APERADOR,ALEJANDRO VARGAS
Scientia Et Technica , 2008,

Abstract: the aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between cognition about illness and spiritual well being,and quality of life in 50 patients with terminal cancer in the city of medellin, colombia. the study used an exploratory, descriptive, correlational and cross sectional research design. the instruments used were the spirituality index of well-being siwb, the illness cognition questionnaire icq and the mcgill quality of life questionnaire mqol. descriptive results show that the more serious and insidious symptoms are body pain, asthenia and adinamia. regarding the total level of spiritual well-being, positive correlations were found with perceived benefits in the icq and existential well-being of quality of life;and negative correlations with helplessness in the icq and psychological symptoms of quality of life. in conclusion, spirituality and positive cognitions regarding aterminal disease process are mediating variables, buffers and modulators of the quality of life on the physical, psychological, emotional, social, spiritual and economic level.
Diaz-Pulido,Angélica; Payán Garrido,Esteban;
Mastozoolog?-a neotropical , 2011,
Abstract: ocelot ecology is largely unknown for seasonally flooded savannahs, particularly for the neotropical llanos of colombia. camera trap surveys were carried out in a private reserve in the colombian llanos to estimate ocelot density. five to six different ocelots (depending on the side of the animal photographed) were identified from 25 photographs taken during a survey of 1282 trap-nights. ocelot density was estimated at 5.47 (mmdm) and 11.08 (1/2 mmdm) per 100 km2. this is one of the lowest densities reported for the species and the first time that density is estimated through camera trapping for this habitat type. it is inferred that the particular habitat of seasonally flooded savannahs dissected by riparian forest influences this low density, additionally to threats due to direct hunting, habitat transformation (palm oil, rice plantations, and extensive cattle ranching) and prey hunting by humans. at this reported density, an estimated area of 4570 km2 is necessary for the long term survival of an ocelot population (n=500).
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PERFORMANCE OF PORTLAND CEMENT BLENDED WITH NANOSILICA AND SILICA FUME
TOBóN,J. I; RESTREPO,O. J; PAYá,J;
DYNA , 2010,
Abstract: in this paper some physical properties of colombian portland cement type iii replaced with nanosilica in percentages of 1, 3, 5 and 10% were evaluated. main determined properties were fluidity, normal consistency, setting times, heat of hydration and compressive strength on pastes and mortars. it was made also a comparative analysis with samples substituted with commercial silica fume in percentages of 5, 10 and 15%. results showed that the nanosilica from 5% beginning to have a major positive influence on the mechanical strength of mortars and with a 10% of substitution improvements in compressive strength up to 120% with respect to the control sample for one day of curing can be achieved. for longer curing time the improvement is decreased slightly, with near 80%, remaining this improvement in strength after 28 days of curing.
Villegas,Victoria Eugenia; Velandia,Fernando; Payán,Cesar;
Revista Ciencias de la Salud , 2008,
Abstract: background: transmissible spongiform encephalopathies are neurodegenerative diseases caused by abnormal accumulation of pathogenic isoform the prion protein, which induces the formation of conglomerates protein resistant to degradation. they are also responsible for synaptic dysfunction, neuronal damage and the classic symptoms of disease. this membrane protein is encoded by exon 2 of the gene prnp, located on the short arm of chromosome 20 and appears to be involved in synaptic transmission, signal transduction, the antioxidant activity of the superoxid dismutasa, neuroplasticity and cell survival. one polymorphism at codon 129 is associated with differential susceptibility to disease sporadic creutzfeldt-jakob disease. aim: clinical, pathological and molecular report on an 58 year-old woman with pathological diagnosis of creutzfeldt-jakob sporadic disease. methods and results. the clinic course appears with a behavior depressive disorder with progressive dementia and symptoms. at the end of the disease, the scenario progressed to a neurological deficit focused on the visual area. the mri showed nonspecific hyperintensity in corti?o-subcortical nucleus in the striatum, the eeg showed patterns of recurrent generalized discharges and complex three-phase, the brain biopsy post-morten showed severe loss of the neuronal population in all the layers, vacuoles in the neuropil, in the neuronal soma and the glial. the analysis of sequence of the gene prnp identified homozygotes for methionine at codon 129. the patient died at 3 months of the onset of symptoms. conclusions: epidemiology, clinical course and paraclinical examinations confirmed the diagnosis of creutzfeldt-jakob sporadic. the genotyping for polymorphisms of risk becomes useful tool to complement through molecular diagnosis and to deepen the understanding of the pathophysiology of creutzfeldt- jakob disease, both for sporadic forms and for the new variant.
HuComTech Multimodal Corpus Annotation

Argumentum , 2011,
Abstract: The Hungarian audio-visual corpus recording and annotation project is being carried out by the HuComTech (Hungarian Human-Computer Interaction Technologies) research group at the University of Debrecen and is a part of a comprehensive multimodal human-machine interaction modelling project. The research contributes to the exact knowledge of the overlaps between the verbal and nonverbal aspects of communicative events and prosodic features through the examination of spontaneous speech, with special regard to syntactical embeddings, insertions, iterations, hesitations and restarts, various kinds of emotions and discourse markers. The efficiency of speech recognition systems can also be increased by proper acoustic preprocessing and investigation of the suprasegmental characteristics of spontaneous speech. Concerning Hungarian, the lack of a multimodal, prosodically labelled, representative spontaneous speech corpus makes the development more difficult. The spontaneous multimodal corpus is being recorded via guided – formal and informal – conversations. During the conversations, several points are to be discussed in order to provoke longer monologues accompanied by gestures, facial expressions, and also including the above mentioned phenomena of spontaneous speech to be examined. The present paper focuses on the aspects of multimodal annotation, especially the details of the annotation of prosodic and suprasegmental features. The visual, nonverbal channel of these phenomena are also to be annotated thus we can examine and implement multimodal features and their overlaps as well.
