Abstract: O artigo examina a hipótese de que a ética aristotélica depende da educa o do indivíduo e do cidad o. Apesar de Aristóteles n o explicitar a rela o entre ética e educa o, é possível, após a análise de seus textos, afirmar que a ética aristotélica tem uma fun o pedagógica, isto é, o homem torna-se virtuoso gra as à educa o. The article examines the hypothesis that the Aristotelian ethics depends on the education of the individual and the citizen. Although Aristotle does not explain the relationship between ethics and education, after analysis of his texts it is possible to say that the Aristotelian ethics has an educational function, that is, man becomes virtuous through education.

Abstract: Exame introdutório ao conceito de virtude de Plat o considerando especialmente a quest o da unidade e das partes, da possibilidade de ensinar a virtude e das rela es entre a ideia de alma e as condi es da virtude. O artigo analisa o contexto social e histórico da virtude na Grécia antiga e na obra de Plat o, examina algumas posi es teóricas sobre o problema da unidade e das partes da virtude e a quest o da aprendizagem da virtude no Menon, Górgias e Protágoras e, finalmente, examina as implica es do conceito de alma presentes na concep o de virtude em Plat o. Introductory examination of Plato’s concept of virtue especially the question of unity or the parties, the possibility of teaching virtue and relations between the soul and Idea of conditions. The article analyzes the social and historical context of virtue ancient Greece and in the work of Plato, examines some theoretical positions on the problem of unity and party of virtue and learning of virtue on the Protagoras, Gorgias and Menon and, finality, examines the implications of the concept of the soul in Plato’s virtue in design.

Abstract: the occurrence of gum ducts in the vegetative organs of vochysia thyrsoidea pohl, a native plant from the "cerrado" vegetation of central brazil was studied. this species presents a swollen structure, which forms from the hypocotyl and the upper part of the primary root during the early stages of development. the secondary xylem of the hypocotyl part of the swollen structure shows the presence of both parenchymatic zones and gum ducts. the possible ontogenetic relationship between the parenchymatic zones and the gum ducts is discussed in this paper. the traumatic origin of the gum ducts is questioned.

Abstract: Com base na teoria do imaginário social, este artigo discute aspectos da identidade cultural do imigrante italiano nos romances A Cocanha e O Quatrilho, de José Clemente Pozenato. Inicialmente, analisa imagens referentes ao mito da Cocanha que orientaram as expectativas das personagens sobre o Brasil; num segundo momento, verifica em que medida essas proje es se concretizaram na nova terra; por último, examina o processo de adapta o ao novo contexto, bem como de reconstru o da identidade cultural. Nesse sentido, a análise promove o diálogo entre os estudos literários e historiográficos.
Application of molecular sieves in the fractionation of lemongrass oil from high-pressure carbon dioxide extraction

Abstract: the aim of this work was to study the feasibility of simultaneous process of high-pressure extraction and fractionation of lemongrass essential oil using molecular sieves. for this purpose, a high-pressure laboratory-scale extraction unit coupled with a column with four different stationary phases for fractionation: zsm5 zeolite, mcm-41 mesoporous material, alumina and silica was employed. additionally, the effect of carbon dioxide extraction variables on the global yield and chemical composition of the essential oil was also studied in a temperature range of 293 to 313 k and a pressure range of 100 to 200 bar. the volatile organic compounds of the extracts were identified by a gas chromatograph coupled with a mass spectrometer detector (gc/ms). the results indicated that the extraction process variables and the stationary phase exerted an effect on both the extraction yield and the chemical composition of the extracts.

Abstract: (comparative morpho-anatomy of leaves from the vicariant pair plathymenia foliolosa benth. and plathymenia reticulata benth. (leguminosae-mimosoideae)). the bipinnate adult leaves of p. foliolosa from the forest (minas gerais) and p. reticulata from the cerrado vegetation of brasília (df), brazil, were studied. all parts of the leaves were examined under the light microscope with normal and polarized light. p. reticulata leaflets are larger than those of p. foliolosa. the anatomical structure in all parts shows subtle differences which may be of ecological importance. the stomata occur either at the same level as the adjacent epidermal cells or they may be slightly sunken in p. reticulata or slightly raised in p.foliolosa. the leaflet blade is wider in p. reticulata and the mesophyll cells are more tightly arranged. the leaflet blade is hypostomatic, dorsiventral with two layers of palisade parenchyma in p. reticulata and one layer in p. foliolosa. the cutinization process is more intense in the epidermal cell walls of p. reticulata. calcium oxalate crystals are more abundant in p. foliolosa although crystal redissolution was seen in both species. stronger scleromorphism (from the anatomical point of view), greater amount of phenolic deposits and gelatinous fibers are features more conspicuous in p. reticulata. the similar structural organization recorded for the two vicariant species agrees with their close taxonomic relationship and the differential anatomical features may be related to the environmental factors of the species' habitat.

Abstract: Para o aproveitamento dos constituintes nutricionais do soro de leite, no presente trabalho efetuouse a secagem de soro de leite por atomiza o (spray dryer - Lab Plant SD - 05), caracteriza o do produto e aplica o em produto de panifica o. As condi es operacionais de secagem foram: temperatura e vaz o do ar de secagem, 190 oC e 75 m3/h; press o de atomiza o do soro de 0,08 bar; vaz o média de alimenta o do soro de 0,5 L/h. O soro desidratado apresentou em média 3,6 % de umidade, 48,84 % de lactose, 12,8 % de proteína, 6,6 % de gordura e 7,1 % de sais minerais. Com o soro desidratado, formularam-se p es de leite, substituindo-se o leite em pó por soro de leite nas propor es de 25, 50, 75 e 100 %, respectivamente. Os produtos foram avaliados sensorialmente, por uma equipe de 35 provadores n o treinados. A substitui o do leite em pó desnatado pelo soro de leite desidratado ocasionou uma diminui o no teor de cálcio e aumentou nos teores de gordura e sódio nas formula es de p o de leite. A formula o com 25 % de soro de leite desidratado apresentou as melhores características de sabor e aceita o geral (69 %).
Supercritical CO2 extraction of raw propolis and its dry ethanolic extract

Abstract: three types of propolis extract were prepared and analyzed with respect to their global extraction yields and with respect to the concentration of the following markers: 3,5-diprenyl-4-hydroxycinnamic acid; 3-prenyl-4-hydroxycinnamic acid; 4-hydroxycinnamic acid and 4-methoxy-3,5,7-trihydroxyflavone. the extract eep (ethanolic extract of propolis) was obtained by the conventional method from raw propolis using ethanol as solvent. the extracts (sfe) were obtained by supercritical solvent extraction from the raw propolis using supercritical carbon dioxide (sc-co2), with and without the addition of ethanol as a co-solvent. the fractionated supercritical extracts (fsce) were obtained by fractionation (extract and raffinate) of the dry eep with sc-co2. eep yields of 39.5% were obtained and maximum global extraction yields were 7.3% for sfe with no co-solvent, 51% for sfe with 15% ethanol and 18% for the fsce extract fraction. the concentrations of the markers in the different extracts differed as a function of the operational parameters, indicating that the addition of co-solvent and the selectivity of sc-co2 could be manipulated so as to obtain extracts with the yields and concentrations of interest.
