Abstract: O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar produ es científicas sobre a temática da educa o de jovens e adultos com deficiência intelectual, presentes em disserta es e teses no período de 1988 a 2008. Para isso, realizou-se o levantamento no banco de teses da Capes, por meio de busca com descritores específicos que contemplassem a educa o de jovens e adultos, educa o especial, e deficiência intelectual e mental. Foram selecionadas dez produ es distribuídas em seis Institui es de Ensino Superior (IES), a maioria oriundas de IES públicas, relativas ao Programa de Pós-Gradua o em Educa o, e defendidas na década de 2000. A maior parte dos estudos incidiu sobre a alfabetiza o e sinalizou a necessidade de aprimoramento das práticas pedagógicas, bem como a importancia da intera o dos jovens e adultos portadores de deficiência intelectual com seus professores. Verificou-se ainda a existência de poucos estudos pertinentes a essa popula o em quest o; apontando para um campo de conhecimento a ser devidamente desvendado. Abstract: O presente texto tem por objetivo mostrar como se constitui a parceria entre o Atendimento Educacional Especializado (AEE) e a Educa o de Jovens e Adultos (EJA) em uma escola da rede municipal de uma cidade de médio porte da regi o central do estado de S o Paulo. Trata-se de um estudo que teve como referência metodológica a pesquisa exploratória, a partir da perspectiva do estudo de caso. O estudo foi realizado em uma escola municipal de ensino fundamental que possuía alunos com deficiência matriculados na modalidade de Educa o de Jovens e Adultos. A coleta dos dados se deu por meio de entrevista com roteiro semiestruturado, tendo como foco o Atendimento Educacional Especializado junto aos alunos com deficiência da Educa o de Jovens e Adultos. Os resultados, ainda que exploratórios, evidenciaram que a maioria dos alunos com deficiência da EJA tinha deficiência intelectual, eram trabalhadores e n o frequentavam o AEE, uma vez que os professores da EJA n o apresentavam dificuldades no trabalho com estes alunos. é preciso novos estudos que contemplem a es necessárias à efetiva parceria entre a EJA e a Educa o Especial. Impact of restriction of cefepime use on the antimicrobial susceptibility of Gram-negative bacilli related to healthcare-associated infections in an orthopedic hospital

Interaction between antibiotic consumption and resistance development is of particular interest regarding Gram-negative bacilli, whose growing resistance has represented a great challenge.Objective: Assess the impact of restriction of cefepime use on antimicrobial susceptibility among the Gram-negative bacilli (GNB) most frequently involved in healthcare-associated infections (HAI).Methods: Data relating to hospital occupancy and mortality rates, incidence of HAI, incidence of GNB as causative agents of HAI, antimicrobial consumption at the hospital and antimicrobial susceptibility of GNB related to HAI were compared between two periods: a 24-month period preceding restriction of cefepime use and a 24-month period subsequent to this restriction.Results: There was a significant drop in cefepime consumption after its restriction. Susceptibility of Acinetobacter baumanii improved relating to gentamicin, but it worsened in relation to imipenem, subsequent to this restriction. For Pseudomonas aeruginosa, there was no change in antimicrobial susceptibility. For Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter spp, there were improvements in susceptibility relating to ciprofloxacin.Conclusion: Restriction of cefepime use had a positive impact on K. pneumoniae and Enterobacter spp, given that after this restriction, their susceptibilities to ciprofloxacin improved. However, for A. baumanii, the impact was negative, given the worsening of susceptibility to imipenem.Keywords: ecological studies, cross infection, drug resistance, microbial, Gram-negative bacilli, cefepime

Abstract: a flow system procedure for spectrophotometric determination of ascorbic acid in drugs based on [fe3+(scn-)n] +3-n complex decomposition by reduction is described. the flow network was constituted by a set of three-way solenoid valves, controlled by a microcomputer running a software wrote in quickbasic 4.5 language. the feasibility of the procedure was ascertained by determining ascorbic acid in drug samples with mass ranging from 0.0018 up to 0.0180 g. the results showed an agreement of about 7% when compared with recommended method. other profitable features such as a standard deviation of 1.5% (n = 7) and a throughput of 120 determinations per hour was also achieved.

Assessment of estrogenic, mutagenic and antimutagenic activity of nemorosone

Abstract: Currently, a wide range of research involving natural products is focused on the discovery of new drugs in many different therapeutic areas. A great number of the synthetic compounds on the market were derived from natural products, especially plants. Nemorosone is the major constituent of the floral resin of Clusia rosea Jacq., Clusiaceae, and in Cuban propolis. In vitro studies have shown cytotoxic activity in this substance against various tumor cell lines, including those resistant to various cytotoxic drugs, whereas it has low cytotoxicity to non-tumoral cells. Therefore, in order to characterize the biological activity of nemorosone, a substance with potential antitumor activity, and in view of preclinical testing of the toxicity of drug candidate compounds, the main aim of this study was to determine the mutagenic and antimutagenic activity of nemorosone by the Ames test, using the strains TA97a, TA98, TA100 and TA102 of Salmonella typhimurium. Secondly, to characterize the estrogenic activity in an experimental recombinant yeast model (Recombinant Yeast Assay) mutagenic activity was observed at in any of the concentrations in any of the test strains. To evaluate the antimutagenic potential, direct and indirect mutagenic agents were used: 4 nitro-o-phenylenediamine (NPD), mitomycin C (MMC) and aflatoxin B1 (AFL). Nemorosone showed moderate antimutagenic activity (inhibition level 31%), in strain TA100 in the presence of AFL, and strong antimutagenic activity in TA102 against MMC (inhibition level 53%). Estrogenic activity was observed, with an EEq of 0.41±0.16 nM at various tested concentrations.
Multicomuta??o e amostragem binária em análise química em fluxo: determina??o espectrofotométrica de ortofosfato em águas naturais

Abstract: a flow system based on multicommutation and binary sampling process was developed to implement the sample zone trapping technique in order to increase the spectrophotometric analytical range and to improve sensitivity. the flow network was designed with active devices in order to provide facilities to determine sequentialy analyte with a wide concentration range, employing a single pumping channel to propel sample and reagents solutions. the procedure was employed to determine ortophosphate ions in water samples of river and waste. profitable features such as an analytical throughput of 60 samples determination per hour, relative standard deviation (r.s.d.) of 2% (n = 6) for a typical sample with concentration of 2.78 mg/l were achieved. by applying the paired t-test no significant difference at 95% confidence level was observed between the results obtained with the proposed system and those of the usual flow injection system.
