Projeto Amigos da Leitura: um programa de interven o no Hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Marília

Abstract: Introdu o: O projeto Amigos da Leitura desenvolve suas atividades desde o ano de 1999, como uma atividade do Grupo de Pesquisa - Novas Tecnologias em Informa o, do Departamento de Ciência da Informa o - FFC/UNESP, em parceira com o Projeto água Viva de Promo o Social. O desenvolvimento inicial das atividades ocorreu no Bairro Jardim Bandeirantes, junto a um time de futebol de adolescente, em seguida foram transferidas para uma escola pública do bairro. As atividades voltadas para o atendimento de crian as hospitalizadas iniciaram-se no ano de 2003 no Hospital Municipal Materno Infantil. Hoje todo o desenvolvimento do projeto está voltado para o incentivo à leitura no Hospital Santa Casa de Misericórdia. Objetivos: O projeto objetiva apresentar o trabalho de alunos da gradua o em Biblioteconomia com crian as de 3 a 12 anos internadas nas alas: Pediatria e Unidade de Terapia de Queimados no desenvolvimento do ato de ler, como forma de estabelecer o contato do livro com os hospitalizados. Métodos: As atividades s o planejadas em reuni es com o grupo de envolvidos quando é estabelecido um calendário de a es voltadas para o incentivo à leitura. O planejamento é estabelecido a partir da análise da literatura disponível sobre o desenvolvimento do gosto pela leitura e é elaborado mensalmente com o intuito de resgatar a criatividade e aproximar a crian a da leitura e do hábito de utilizar livros de modo prazeroso. Os livros utilizados no desenvolvimento das atividades s o selecionados entre aqueles disponíveis no acervo da Brinquedoteca do hospital como uma forma de construir um vínculo para o uso do acervo, principalmente, nos momentos em os integrantes do projeto n o est o atuando no local. As atividades s o planejadas para atender as diferentes faixas etárias e diferentes habilidades cognitivas. No primeiro semestre deste ano os livros selecionados para o trabalho com as crian as foram: Flicts (Ziraldo, 1969), O pequeno planeta perdido (Ziraldo, 1985), O planeta Lilás (Ziraldo, 1979) e Claude Monet (Venezia, 1991?), com a proposta de trabalhar com as cores. Resultados: Como resultado percebeu-se um bom envolvimento das crian as com a leitura e com o desenvolvimento de atividades paralelas, como o recontar a história, construir outros textos, pintar, desenhar. Como conclus o aponta-se o ato de ler, na perspectiva da estrutura planejada no projeto Amigos da Leitura, como uma atividade que proporciona aos envolvidos a possibilidade de um distanciamento do local em que est o, um momento lúdico, que tem gerado, em alguns momentos, mudan as de atitudes compor

Abstract: simple double repetitive element polymerase chain reaction (madre-pcr) and pvu ii-is1245 restriction fragment length polymorphism (rflp) typing methods were used to type 41 mycobacterium avium isolates obtained from 14 aids inpatients and 10 environment and animals specimens identified among 53 mycobacteria isolated from 237 food, chicken, and pig. all environmental and animals strains showed orphan patterns by both methods. by madre-pcr four patients, with multiple isolates, showed different patterns, suggesting polyclonal infection that was confirmed by rflp in two of them. this first evaluation of madre-pcr on brazilian m. avium strains demonstrated that the method seems to be useful as simple and less expensive typing method for screening genetic diversity in m. avium strains on selected epidemiological studies, although with limitation on analysis identical patterns except for one band.
Impacto da atividade física na qualidade de vida de mulheres de meia idade: estudo de base populacional

Abstract: purpose: to evaluate the influence of physical activity on the quality of life of middle-aged women. methods: a population-based cross-sectional study was conducted on 370 women aged 40 to 65 years-old recruited from a population-based sample. enrollment took place in basic health units in each health district of the city (north, south, east, and west) from june to september 2011. according to the municipal health department of the city, 20,801 women were assisted at the basic health units during a one-year period. the sample size calculation was stratified by district and based on a 95% confidence level with a power of 80%, as well as an error estimate of 5% and it was considered proportional to the number of patients classified as having adequate quality of life (indicator >26) in the general population. data were collected while women waited for their routine appointment at the health unit. whoqol-bref was used to evaluate the quality of life, and menopause rating scale (mrs) was used to determine climacteric symptoms. the level of physical activity was assessed by means of the international physical activity questionnaire (ipaq). to obtain the classification of pa levels, we used three categories: sedentary, moderately active, and very active. statistical analysis was performed using the minitab software, version 16. results: the mean age of the subjects was 49.8 years-old (±8.1) and they were predominantly caucasian (72.7%), married (61.6%), non-smokers (93.5%), and had high school education (47.8%). using the whoqol, mean scores were found to be significantly different between the groups (low, moderate, and vigorous physical activity), classified according to the domains of quality of life (p<0.01). concerning physical activity and climacteric symptoms, significant differences were found for all domains: psychological (p<0.01), vegetative-somatic (p<0.01), and urogenital (p<0.01). conclusions: physical activity improves quality of life in middle-aged women.
Differentiation between Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis using hypertonic Sabouraud broth and tobacco agar

Abstract: introduction: opportunistic fungal infections in immunocompromised hosts are caused by candida species, and the majority of such infections are due to candida albicans. however, the emerging pathogen candida dubliniensis demonstrates several phenotypic characteristics in common with c. albicans, such as production of germ tubes and chlamydospores, calling attention to the development of stable resistance to fluconazole in vitro. the aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of biochemistry identification in the differentiating between c. albicans and c. dubliniensis, by phenotyping of yeast identified as c. albicans. methods: seventy-nine isolates identified as c. albicans by the api system id 32c were grown on sabouraud dextrose agar at 30°c for 24-48h and then inoculated on hypertonic sabouraud broth and tobacco agar. results: our results showed that 17 (21.5%) isolates were growth-inhibited on hypertonic sabouraud broth, a phenotypic trait inconsistent with c. albicans in this medium. however, the results observed on tobacco agar showed that only 9 (11.4%) of the growth-inhibited isolates produced characteristic colonies of c. dubliniensis (rough colonies, yellowish-brown with abundant fragments of hyphae and chlamydospores). conclusions: the results suggest that this method is a simple tool for screening c. albicans and non-albicans yeast and for verification of automated identification.
Prevalence of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus in Raw Hamburgers and Ready-to-Eat Sandwiches Commercialized in Supermarkets and Fast Food Outlets in Brazil  [PDF]

Abstract: Although well known, Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterium that remains widely studied because of its high pathogenic potential and its ability to develop resistance to antibiotics routinely used in clinical practice. The present study investigated the occurrence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in hamburgers and sandwiches sold in supermarkets and fast food outlets in Salvador, BA, Brazil. Fifty samples of frozen raw hamburgers (25: beef and 25: chicken) and 50 samples of ready-to-eat sandwiches (25: beef and 25: chicken) were collected and investigated for the presence of MRSA. MRSA was present in 32% of the hamburgers and 8% of the sandwiches. The frequency of MRSA was higher in the samples containing chicken meat. However, the statistical analysis showed no association between MRSA presence and the type of meat investigated (P > 0.05). The high prevalence of MRSA in hamburgers and the presence of the microorganism in ready-to-eat sandwiches are worrying and indicate the need for better control during food preparation to prevent the spread of bacteria.

Abstract: O presente artigo faz um recorte da pesquisa do curso de doutorado intitulada: PDE: uma política educacional de gerenciamento nas escolas. O objetivo da pesquisa é conhecer os resultados do plano de desenvolvimento da escola (PDE), a partir da sua proposta de descentraliza o da educa o, nas escolas do município de Manaus. A metodologia a ser utilizada nesta pesquisa contou com os seguintes instrumentos: pesquisa bibliográfica, análise documental e pesquisa de campo. Com abordagem quantitativo-qualitativa que atende aos interesses desta investiga o. O estudo apresentou alguns dados que permitiram uma reflex o sobre o programa fundescola e seu principal produto PDE, que é impregnado de conceitos como descentraliza o, autonomia e participa o. Os principais resultados apontaram que o modelo de gest o instituído pelo PDE n o atende seu objetivo de solucionar problemas como a repetência, abandono escolar e a má qualidade do ensino. Abstract: Neste texto pretendemos abordar criticamente algumas dimens es da configura o das políticas educacionais, no discurso neoliberal, tendo como foco de análise a pesquisa desenvolvida na UNIVERSIDADE PúBLICA no final do século XX e inicio do século XXI. Na seqüência, apresentaremos algumas considera es gerais sobre como se constrói a retórica neoliberal no campo educacional. Nosso objetivo foi o de questionar a forma do Estado Neoliberal, pensar e projetar a política educacional na pesquisa acadêmica desenvolvida pela Universidade Pública. Finalizaremos destacando algumas das mais evidentes conseqüências dessa farsa rotulada pelo Banco Mundial, BIRD e FMI de Pedagogia da Inclus o (uma inclus o que exclui) promovida pelos discursos educacionais em prol da constru o de uma cidadania outorgada! O caos educacional que estamos vivenciando possui lógica determinada pela Política Publica Educacional Internacional e Nacional. O que prevalece nesta era da irracionalidade é a sedimenta o do padr o americano de pesquisa. In this text we intend critical to approach some dimensions of the configuration of the educational politics, in the liberal speech, having as focus of analysis the research developed in the UNIVERSITY PUBLISHES in the end of century XX and beginning of century XXI. Our objective was to question the form of the liberal State, to think and to project the educational politics in the academic research developed by the Public University. We will finish detaching some of the evidences consequences of this humbug friction for the World Bank, BIRD and FMI of Pedagogy of the Inclusion (an inclusion that excludes) promoted by the educational speeches in favor of the construction of a granted citizenship! TOPOGRAFIA DAS INTUMESCêNCIAS CERVICAL E LOMBAR EM GATOS SEM RA A DEFINIDA (Felis catus Linnaeus, 1758) TOPOGRAPHY OF THE CERVICAL AND LUMBAR INTUMESCENSES IN THE DOMESTIC WITHOUT RACE CAT (Felis catus Linnaeus, 1758)

Abstract: Foram obtidas informa es sobre as intumescências cervical (IC) e lombar (IL) de gatos sem ra a definida, analisando trinta animais, post-mortem, adultos. Removeram-se a pele e a musculatura dorsal da coluna vertebral para expor a medula espinhal e seus envoltórios por meio de sec o dos arcos vertebrais, evidenciando-se a IC e a IL. Fez-se a mensura o da IC e IL e sua rela o com as vértebras cervicais (C), torácicas (T) e lombares (L) para obter a esqueletopia. A IC apresentou-se com o tamanho variando de 3,30-8,00 cm, sendo que em nove animais (30,00 ± 8,36%) este foi entre 5,00-5,50 cm. A IL apresentou-se com o tamanho variando de 2,90-5,70 cm, e em 21 animais (70,00 ± 8,36%) este foi de 3,00-4,50 cm. A esqueletopia dessas estruturas foi variável: em dezesseis animais (53,33 ± 9,10%) a IC iniciou-se na vértebra C3 e a IL, em 23 animais (76,67 ± 7,72%) na L4. Os finais da IC e da IL ocorriam em doze animais (40,00 ± 8,94%) na vértebra T1 e em 24 (80,00 ± 7,30%) ao nível da vértebra L6, respectivamente. The dorsal skin and muscles from the vertebral column were removed to expose the spinal cord and its wrappers were visualized when the vertebral arcs were sectioned, exposing the CI and LI. The CI and LI where measured up and their relationship with cervical (C), thoracic (T) and lumbar (L) vertebrae were analyzed to get their skeletopy. The length of the CI presented a variation from 3.30-8.00 cm, with a higher frequency of 9 animals (30.00 ± 8.36%) presenting 5.00-5.50 cm. The length of the LI presented a variation from 2.90-5.70 and the higher frequency observed was 21 animals (70.00 ± 8.36%) presenting 3.00-4.50 cm. Their skeletopy were also variable: in 16 animals (53.33 ± 9.10%) the CI began at the C3 and the LI began at the L4 in 23 animals (76.67 ± 7.72%). Their ends were also variable, since the CI and the LI ended in 12 animals (40.00 ± 8.94%) the T1 and in 24 (80.00 ± 7.30%) at the L6 vertebrae, respectively. Anelamento e reguladores de crescimento: efeitos sobre as medidas biométricas e qualidade de cachos da videira 'Superior Seedless'

Abstract: aiming to increase the berry size, weight of bunches and yield, the bunches of the cv. superior seedless was powdered with gibberelic acid (1 + 20 mg.l-1), bio-stimulant crop set? in the dosis of 0.1 and 0.2%. in adition was used the treatment known as girdling. those treatments were applied in an isolated way or combined to each other. the work was carried out during 2001-2002 (two harvest seasons), in the experimental station of bebedouro, semi-arid embrapa in petrolina, pernambuco state. the experimental design were in randomized blocks with 12 treatments and three replications. the differences among the treatments were not statistical significant in the two evaluated seasons. however, when the gibberelic acid was associated with crop set? 0.1% and girdling, it was observed a tendency to increase the weight of bunches, as well as, the weight and berry size in the 2001 season. the bunches treated with gibberelic acid presented stronger rachis, although significant differences are not observed among the treatments. some plants submited to the girdling presented problems with cicatrization, that caused death of them, recomending to avoid this practice in the conditions of this work.
