Porous graphene: Properties, preparation, and potential applications

Abstract: Graphene has recently emerged as an important and exciting material. Inspired by its outstanding properties, many researchers have extensively studied graphene-related materials both experimentally and theoretically. Porous graphene is a collection of graphene-related materials with nanopores in the plane. Porous graphene exhibits properties distinct from those of graphene, and it has widespread potential applications in various fields such as gas separation, hydrogen storage, DNA sequencing, and supercapacitors. In this review, we summarize recent progress in studies of the properties, preparation, and potential applications of porous graphene, and show that porous graphene is a promising material with great potential for future development.

Abstract: The hydrogen storage behaviour of the Mg-rich rare earth alloys, La_2Mg_(17) and La_2Mg_(16)Ni, has been investigated. Two plateaus related to the reactions Mg2Ni+2H_2(?)Mg_2NiH_4 and Mg+H_2(?)MgH_2 respectively exhibit in the pressurecomposition isotherm of La_2Mg_(16)Ni alloy. Partial substitution of Mg by Ni in La_2Mg_(17) gives a two-phase mixture: the major is La_2Mg_(17) type phase and the minor, Mg_2Ni type one. Hydriding of the La_2Mg_(16)Ni alloy leads to the formation of MgH_2, La hydride and Mg_2NiH_4. An experiment was also carried out on the hydrogen absorption by the alloys under either normal temperature and lower pressure or normal pressure and elevated temperature. It was found that La_2Mg_(17) and La_2Mg_(16)Ni seem to be the considerable hydrogen storage materials.
Equilibrium dialysis study on the interaction between Cu(II) and HSA or BSA

Abstract: The interaction of Cu(II) and human serum albumin (HSA) or bovine serum albumin (BSA) at physiological pH is studied by equilibrium dialysis. The successive stability constants are obtained by non-linear least square methods fitting Bjerrum formula. For both the Cu(II)-HSA and Cu(II)-BSA systems, the order of magnitude of K1 and K2 was found to be ≈104 mol 1· dm3. There are about twenty stoichiometry binding sites found in one HSA or BSA molecule. They can be divided into two or three sets. Results of equilibrium dialysis experiments suggest that there exists one strong metal binding site in both Cu(II)-HSA and Cu (II)-BSA. It is the imidazol group nitrogen atoms of His3 that are primarily concerned with copper binding site. After reaching dialysis equilibrium, there is the interaction among the different binding sites, the values ofK all deviate from the simple statistical effect except forK 1 and K2 in both Cu(II)-HSA and Cu(II)-BSA systems, and the positive cooperative effect is found.
Influence of Four Factors on Discharge Capacity and Self-Discharge Rate of Iron Electrode

Abstract: Ni-Fe rechargeable batteries possess the advantages of long cycle life, high theoretical specific energy, abundant raw material, low price and environmental friendship. It has a wide applied perspective. The advantages, disadvantages and preparation methods of iron electrodes were summarized. The influence of four factors on discharge capacity and self-discharge rate of iron electrode were discussed by means of orthogonal experiments, galvanostatic charges and discharges. The influences of graphite on the discharge capacity and self-discharge rate of iron electrode were the most remarkable, the most unapparent influences on the discharge capacity and self-discharge rate were HPMC (hydroxy propoxy methoxy cellulose) and sodium sulphide, respectively. The aim of the present research was to study the effects of graphite, HPMC and iron powder added in the electrodes, sodium sulphide added in the electrolytes on the discharge capacity and self-discharge rate of iron electrodes. The largest discharge capacity of the iron electrodes was 488.5 mAh/g-Fe at 66.4 mA/g-Fe in the first ten cycles, and the average self-discharge rate was 0.367% per hour.

Inference of Gene-Phenotype Associations via Protein-Protein Interaction and Orthology

Abstract: One of the fundamental goals of genetics is to understand gene functions and their associated phenotypes. To achieve this goal, in this study we developed a computational algorithm that uses orthology and protein-protein interaction information to infer gene-phenotype associations for multiple species. Furthermore, we developed a web server that provides genome-wide phenotype inference for six species: fly, human, mouse, worm, yeast, and zebrafish. We evaluated our inference method by comparing the inferred results with known gene-phenotype associations. The high Area Under the Curve values suggest a significant performance of our method. By applying our method to two human representative diseases, Type 2 Diabetes and Breast Cancer, we demonstrated that our method is able to identify related Gene Ontology terms and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes pathways. The web server can be used to infer functions and putative phenotypes of a gene along with the candidate genes of a phenotype, and thus aids in disease candidate gene discovery. Understanding the Determinants of Consumers’ Willingness to Pay for Eco-Labeled Products: An Empirical Analysis of the China Environmental Label  [PDF]

Abstract: This study applies data from a web-based survey conducted in mainland China to examine the determinants of consumers’ willingness to pay (WTP) for seven different product categories awarded with China Environmental Label and com- pare the mean WTP estimates among these categories. The Interval Regression method is used for estimation. The results indicate that Chinese consumers who regard environmental conservation as being more important than life convenience, who believe purchasing the eco-labeled products is good for the environment, and who have the experience in purchasing eco-labeled products are willing to pay more for those products with environmental label or eco-label. In addition, socio-demographic characteristics such as gender, age, education and household income are found to be important factors to affect Chinese consumers’ WTP amounts. Finally, the results of pair-wise comparison among the mean WTP estimates of various eco-labeled products indicate that most of them are different, which implies that the degrees of Chinese consumers’ willingness to pay extra money for China Environmental Label are different based on the types of products.

Abstract: Speed economy, proposed by Japanese scholars Masaki Tamura, refers to get the cost savings flow by accelerating the transaction process [1], which brings the a large market space to the cargo/express delivery industry [2]. Due to the rapidly growth of China air cargo/express market and the ongoing increasingly opening up of the sky, inter-national cargo/express giants have set up their hubs in China. The arrival of these global logistics integrators has brought a lot of influence to the development of airport. Hereinto, the unbalance between the scales of China cargo hubs and the rapid demand of air cargo/express development, the cooperation model of airports and air cargo/express have become the most urgently issue to explore. Therefore, on the basis of airport and airway co-competition analysis, the characteristics of the air cargo supply chain, and the airports and cargo airlines supply chain behavior, this paper will use the non-co- operative game of principal-agent model and the cooperative game model to analysis the revenue distribution of airport and cargo airway on the supply chain, this paper applies the cooperative game theory within a supply chain to analyze the cooperation model of airports and air cargo/express, so as to makes strategy suggestions on airport development.

The bilateral economic relations betweenChinaandThailandhave unprecedentedly increased since the signing of China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA). This paper describes the rapid economic relations between China and Thailand from the perspectives of bilateral trade and investment as well as other forms of economic cooperation within the latest one decade, and elaborates the spectacular features of Sino-Thai bilateral economic ties in comparison with ASEAN as a whole and the other ASEAN member countries. In addition to explore the driving factors in boosting these two countries’ economic relations, the paper also explores the problems that exists since the two countries’ economic exchanges are as matter of fact under a framework of “South to South” type that embrace inevitably the week pointes such as lacking of complementarities and the others, the effect of free trade pact of “earlier heaviest” concluded by Sino-Thai government since 2003 as an experimental arrangement of CAFTA will be revaluated.
Simulation of Unsteady Water Film Flow on Pelton Bucket  [PDF]

Abstract: In order to simulate the complicated unsteady flow in Pelton bucket, it is necessary to apply the animated cartoon approach. In this paper, a free jet and the inner surface of a bucket is described by boundary fitted grid (BFG) with non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinates. The water flow is discretized in space and time for CFD (computational fluid dynamics). The moving grids of water film are successfully projected onto the bucket’s inner surface by a projection algorithm. The visualization result of the jet landing on bucket’s surface and the unsteady flow in the rotating buckets in 3D verifies the effectiveness of the proposed method.
