Abstract: Penthorum chinense Pursh is rich in gallic acid, which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antitumor activities. In order to optimize their extraction conditions, various extraction parameters were chosen to identify their effects on gallic acid extraction. With extraction amount of gallic acid as index, based on single factor analysis, influence of solid/liquid ratio, ethanol concentration, fetch time and extraction temperature on extraction technology were investigated by orthogonal test. The optimization conditions for gallic acid extraction were determined as follows: ethanol concentration 60%, extraction time 2.5 h, temperature 90°C and solid/liquid ratio 1:30. The corresponding gallic acid content was 4.85%. This optimized extraction process was stable and feasible.

Abstract: In the paper we present three atomic decomposition theorems of Lorentz martingale spaces. With the help of atomic decomposition we obtain a sufficient condition for sublinear operator defined on Lorentz martingale spaces to be bounded. Using this sufficient condition, we investigate some inequalities on Lorentz martingale spaces. Finally we discuss the restricted weak-type interpolation, and prove the classical Marcinkiewicz interpolation theorem in the martingale setting.

Abstract: a method of bulk liquid membrane (blm) using complex of di(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (d2ehpa) and o,o'-dibenzoyl-(2r, 3r)-tartaric acid (l-(-)-dbta) was developed for the extractive resolution of racemic mandelic acid (rac ma). the effects of resolution time, concentration of d2ehpa in the organic phase, concentration of rac ma in the feed phase, stirring speed and temperature on extractive resolution were studied. the experimental results have shown that the greatest separation factor (α) 2.74 and the enantiomeric excess value (ee, %) 46.47% were obtained when the resolution time was about 4 h, the molar concentration ratio of rac ma, d2ehpa and l-(-)-dbta 0.05:0.2:0.3, the stirring speed 400 r min-1 and the temperature 35 oc. the developed method is helpful for optimizing the transport of blm systems and for large-scale production of pure enantiomer.
Marangoni effect of cracked liquid film of an aqueous electrolyte flowing over a vertical heated plate

Abstract: An experimental investigation was performed on Marangoni effect of cracked liquid film of aqueous Na2SO4 flowing over a vertical heated plate by using a sensitive infrared imaging technique. The results show that the thermal and solutal Marangoni effects, which result from the non-uniform distributions of surface temperature and concentration of the film, respectively, occur in the streamwise and transverse directions of the film, generating different influences on the film heat transfer. Taking account of the Marangoni number (Ma) and the solution concentration (c 0), a correlation of the Nusselt number (Nu) for the cracked liquid film is proposed.
Effects of Dietary Arginine and Methionine Levels on Broiler Carcass Traits and Meat Quality

Abstract: The current trial with 4x2 factorial arrangement was carried out to determine the effects of dietary arginine and methionine levels on broiler carcass traits and meat quality. Four dietary levels of arginine were 80, 100, 120 and 140% of NRC recommendation and dietary levels of methionine were 100 and 120% of NRC recommendation. On day 42 of age, chickens from each group were slaughtered to evaluate carcass traits, meat quality and muscle characteristics. Arginine supplementation significantly improved muscle growth (pL<0.01), especially breast muscle growth while methionine showed no effect. For meat quality, arginine deficient diet resulted in decreased lightness (L* value) while methionine supplementation increased yellowness (b* value). Except for the arginine deficient group, shear force values were decreased with arginine supplementation. Total collagen was not affected by the levels of arginine and methionine while heat-soluble collagen was increased with arginine (pL<0.05) and methionine supplementation (p<0.05). The result of the present study indicated that dietary arginine and methionine could affect collagen property and myoglobin status in the final formation of meat characteristic and a level of dietary arginine up to 120% of the recommendation by NRC should be suggested for better lean meat deposition and meat tenderness.
Wide Slot Loop Antenna with Distance-Adjustable Back-Reflector for Multiple Narrowband Antennas Replacement

Abstract: In this paper, a wide slot loop antenna with an adjustable back-reflector is introduced. Five working statuses are defined by simply adjusting the distances between the radiator and the reflector. Measured results show the total available operating band with better than 10 dB return loss ranges from 0.84 GHz to 3.04 GHz (113.4%). The radiation properties of the array are tested in an anechoic chamber. Stable unidirectional radiations with more than 8.3 dB gains are observed in the working band. Apart from that, the straightforward two-portion arrangement of the design provides cost-effective solution for mass production. All these features make the antenna an appropriate substitute for multiple narrowband antennas.

Association of CYP1B1 Polymorphisms with Breast Cancer: A Case-Control Study in the Han Population in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, P. R. China

Abstract: Studies investigating possible associations between cytochrome P4501B1 (CYP1B1) polymorphisms and breast cancer risk have been inconsistent. We set out to ascertain whether there might be an association between polymorphisms in exon 2 (codon 119, G→T) and exon 3 (codon 432, G→C) of CYP1B1 and breast cancer in a Chinese Han population in the rural region of Ningxia. Using an allele-specific polymerase chain reaction method and direct DNA sequencing, the presence or absence of the two CYP1B1 polymorphisms was investigated. Genotype and allele frequencies were analyzed in breast cancer cases (n = 152) and healthy age-matched controls (n = 156). The odds ratio (OR) of 119G→T or 432G→C in breast cancer cases and controls was 3.3 (95% CI: 1.28 to 8.28) and 2.8 (95% CI: 1.04 to 7.51), respectively. In addition, the OR for people with both polymorphisms (119T and 432C) was 4.69 (95% CI: 1.97 to 11.19). Our results suggest that certain polymorphisms in the CYP1B1 gene might increase risk for breast cancer among Han Chinese, perhaps because they influence the efficiency of CYP1B1 bio-transformation of oestrogens or pro-carcinogens into DNA- reactive electrophiles that may act as cancer-initiating agents.
