?NGELA PAIVA PAIVA
This paper analyzes the construction of image in descriptive sequences produced by non-literate speakers in spontaneous face to face interactions. Based on image conception (PALMER, 1996) and descriptive sequences conception (ADAM, 1993), it investigates how linguistics constructions evoke mental images and how the speakers translate these images in the lexical choices.

Paiva, Vera;
Interface - Comunica??o, Saúde, Educa??o , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-32832002000200003
Abstract: this text discusses the need to politicize psycho-educational arenas and presents the idea of a "psycho-social emancipation" as one of the references for improved operationalization of the notion of vulnerability in the field of prevention of new hiv infections and of the organization of care for those who are aids carriers. reflecting on actions designed to encourage patients to take their medication and use condoms, it suggests that the prevention of hiv should overcome models devised for "hiv negative" people and that the prevent-assist continuum should be radicalized. to this end, it is pressing to: take into account the facts accumulated in the field of cultural analyses and of psychosocial research in the planning and organization of preventive actions and of providing assistance to hiv carriers, including, for instance, the ideas of oppressive social construction of two genders, masculine and feminine; overcome the notion of "individuals as consumers" (of services, educational programs, condoms and prescribed medication, of behaviors and safe practices to be practiced); foster the innovation of prevention and care actions. working with the idea of a "subject-citizen individual", co-participant in the psycho-educational arenas whose horizon consists of psychosocial emancipation, can enhance the quality of preventive actions and of integrated care of hiv and aids patients, so as to include "all" brazilians, according to the socio-cultural context of "each one", both men and women, testing positive or negative.
Sobre o conceito de "capital humano"
Paiva, Vanilda;
Cadernos de Pesquisa , 2001, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-15742001000200010
Abstract: the article treats the retaking of the concept of human capital in recent decades in the context of the hegemony of the multilateral organizations more directly linked to the north american thinking and interests in the educational area and the demands which have resulted from the productive, social and cultural restructuring of the new age of capitalism. it highlights the breadth of the metaphorical notions derived from it (bourdieu and others) and cites the excerpt from the grundrisse in which marx refers to humans as fixed assets created by the development of their abilities in their free time.
Paiva, Vanilda;
Cadernos de Pesquisa , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-15742011000100015
Abstract: this article deals with the prevailing trend observed in humanities graduate programs linked to social/educational areas in brazil, which maintain a predominantly marxist-orthodox approach as well as an exegetical orientation character. in this sense, the observed trend is contrary to the global development of studies, which focuses on the relationship between education and work. in brazil, books and authors that after the boom years of the marxist 1960/1970 virtually disappeared from the international intellectual scene, are still predominant. as a consequence, any concept that is not in such literature is classified as "newspeak", term that originally condemned stalinism, but was converted in order to denounce those who "look left", but are, in fact, simply "neo-liberals". as a result, this situation ends up restricting the freedom to think, something indispensable to the formation of true intellectuals. also, not only the methodological, epistemological and statistical discussions are eliminated, but the empirical research as well, conditions necessary for statements no longer be the product of a talmudic activity, relying instead on concrete field work
A psicologia redescobrirá a sexualidade?
Paiva, Vera;
Psicologia em Estudo , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-73722008000400002
Abstract: common sense designates the psychologist the most proficient professional to work with sexuality. rarely, though, we are educating psychologists to work with the sexual life in non-clinical contexts. this article synthesizes a critique of the "sexological" framework, hegemonic throughout the xx century, and argues that the "constructionist" approach, while deconstructing woman's subordination and hetero-normativeness as natural, was validated as an alternative paradigm of great relevance for research and professional practice approaching the sexual sphere. this theoretical framework better understood challenges as the aids epidemic, especially in contexts of inequality and rights violations; inspired technologies for its prevention based on gender analysis and the understanding of sexual scenarios, scenes, scripts and trajectories by sexual subjects. psychologists practice will benefit from rediscovering sexuality, surpassing approaches based on personal values, rethinking the sexological and psychological approaches that aim at universalism, at least on the sexuality domain.
Paiva, Jane;
Revista Brasileira de Educa??o , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-24782006000300012
Abstract: current programmes and projects in the field of adult and youth education reveal different ways of understanding and apprehending the meanings and needs of the varied publics who seek such programmes and of attempting to ensure less the perspective of lifelong learning and more the basic right to education systematically denied to so many brazilians. based on this initial premise, the research explores the different forms in which six organizations have formally stated their propositions as well as carried out their practical work in this field. such organizations are characterized by being either public or non-governmental, or pertaining to the social movement or to the s system (sesc, sesi, senar). the aim of this study is to comprehend such postulates and practices in the light of national and international policies of adult and youth education as well as the connections, meanings, nexus, articulations and overlapping which are produced between them and beyond the limits of these organizations in the complex social network. within the perspective of rights, this investigation seeks to penetrate the different layers of reality in order to allow the productions subjacent to the programmes and projects to emerge with a view to mapping the complexity of those practices and reveal those elements which are constitutive and institutive of their conception.

Nowadays, for a significant number of thinkers the challenge of conjecturing on community structure takes on the value of a prophecy. Besides being a project of identity and educational links, it adopts the status of a proposal to be generated also by the specific area of communication and is configured from what we define as “generative community”.
A precariedade humana e a existência estilizada Human precariousness and stylized existence
Rita Paiva
Trans/Form/A??o , 2013,
This article discusses the helplessness experienced by the consciousness vis-à-vis the absence of solid bases for its longings for happiness and for its symbolic representations. For this purpose, the object of reflection of the article is one of Albert Camus' philosophical essays, The Myth of Sisyphus, and we inquire into the possibility of an ethics that stylizes life without minimizing the painful precariousness of human existence. Making reference to certain texts by Foucault, we attempt to establish possible connections between Camus' ethics and an ethics of the aesthetics of existence as found in the thinkers of ancient Greece.
